I haven’t written a check since 2002.  And the last time I saw someone actually use a check was almost 10 years ago. It’s astonishing that they still exist in some parts of the world.
Older people mor so than younger still use them and they have one aspect they like and thats when they get their statements there are copies of the checks or the voided checks returned for their files. Not everyone wants top go paperless and like to have physical proof they paid for something.

I still use cheques for my business. We pay for our suppliers for stock with cheques, the best part of it is, the supplier doesn't bank them straight away, giving us a few days of credit. I also have client who also pay their suppliers with cheques and post them out, so by the time the supplier banks it, they have an extra 2-3 weeks.

But for personal banking, it is all electronic...

please refrain from bringing us google's top story
ok sorry sir. next time not showing that.
When the fuck did this turn into a frat and we got RUSHES CALLING US SIR NOW!?!?!?! Fuck boys, I drink a bit and fucking go MIA and this shit happens, I'm missing out.
You are a senior member at this forum use calling 'Sir' otherwise you are old Member sorry.

Sir is not necessary... just try to provide good information and good questions while learning about the space, and hopefully we can all learn from each other... even if it might take newbies a bit of time to NOT get distracted by shit coins or other misinformation distractions.  If you hang out, after a while, we might be calling you sir.. perhaps?  But only after we get to know you a bit better, you are good for your word, and things like that.. 2. Ultimately we are all just tourists, using our meat carcasses as spiritual vessels to get a glimpse of this and that for a while before returning home to the void.

Speak for yourself. I plan to live forever, swapping out parts as needed, to be replaced by the parts of youthful nocoiners.

Gentlemen, we have the technology, we can rebuild him.

Try not to become too luvy dovey because I have various tendencies to be a BIG MEANIE too and I cannot stop myself from telling emotional peeps on the interwebs to fuck off, too..... .... so my interaction on the interwebs with various avatars, especially with dee emotional and non-substantive ones, can cut in difficult ways.     Shocked Shocked

What do you think about my TA. Should I open an account on Tradingview.com or not?

The title is "BTC is plying H&S and inverse H&S"

Had a conversation about this with some medical types.  They aren’t afraid of dying but they are afraid of pain and suffering. They would choose the bullet 9 times out of 10.  No “futile care” was the wording they used.

Any of y'all ever get the uncanny feeling like the world -- the entirety of it -- has been created and scripted for the sole purpose to gauge how you yourself will react to it?

When I was a kid, very young - yep.  I had a phase where I was convinced people (and things) only existed when I could see them. That is, that when someone left the the room, they disappeared.  It was all show, put on for me.

Not sure if it was paranoia, or arrogance, I was probably 6 years old - and daring god to prove he existed in my head.  I decided since he didn't strike me down, he didn't.

Yes.

But isn’t that what the whole alt-right NPC thing is about ?

When I was in elementary school I went through a phase where I believed that the entire world was spying on me. I'm pretty sure that at some point everybody (well most liberated westerners with time to kill) contemplates whether or not the world revolves around them, and wonder if they may be the only real thing in the universe. Some have even developed philosophies around the concept, others movies.

After having your ass handed to you a few times though, it becomes apparent that we are all just typical spazzes, and that no one is actually that different from anybody else. We all exist, were born into this world crying and against our will, share 99.99% of the same DNA, and not one of us knows what the fuck we are actually doing here.

EDIT: Started a thread dedicated to this topic:

so we don't get drowned in the tens of WO pages!

Market dominance is a shitty indicator, we all know why, and after Bitwise report we cannot ignore anymore his limitation, but, can still point in the right directions to intresting thoughts about market.

Market dominance just broke the peak during Dec '17 (price) ATH, and at 65,2% it is now at the highest levels since April 2017.

Another way of looking at the same phenomenon is the following: relative price movements of shitcoins versus BTC over the last 3M

1BTC=1BTC
Elsewhere: red, red everywhere.
Some obscure random shitcoin in the green, but just a statistical error, I guess.
This is truly remarkable.

In the past we saw BTC having a beta<1 (if you think at a CAPM middle), during bulls run alt rose more than bitcoin (volatility weighted) while in bear market alts downperformed BTC (alt lose more in bear market than BTC).
This time is different and in this market BTC is growing more than alts.

I propose three reasons why market dominance is going north, I ask you your toughs.

I list there in the order of market relevance, in my opinion:

  • Technology has progressed, people studied and has understood better how cryptos work, so they came to the right conclusion shitcoins are indeed...shitcoins. Shitcoins value proposition has since faced and now they are clearly revealed for what they have always been: (kind of elaborate) exit scams by fraudster to transfer your bitcoin in their wallets.
  • We are on the verge of an epochal bull run caused by institutional money on the brink on entering cryptocurrencies. Of course the main gateways for this to happen is Bitcoin. I can't see them diversifying their investment into other bitcoins in the near future both because lack of regulations, lack of liquidity and above all security and scrutiny on this coins.
  • The more Bitcoin performs versus shitcoins, the more the random investors will be keen on buying bitcoins and abstain to shift to shitcoins, because Bitcoin IS the asset performing. SO kind of self-fulfilling mechanism/shelling point where you don't want to convert your bitcoin into other assets

What are your toughs?

Totally agree - and the eventual knowledge that we are all individually trivial teaches us a little humility, which is a good thing.

My toughs?  Wink

1. I think more non-retail money (increasing constituent, now) seeks the safer bet, along with the liquidity of the largest player / market in crypto.
2. The feedback loop.  As long as alts whither and dominance increases, it only reinforces the trend.  For now, at least.
