I am just curious why every time we have some big or small increase, a dump follows below the starting point of the "pump"? Are these the 1%-daily-profit-seeking-traders, or the casual way the closing of short/long positions work? Or even worse, whale shorters, who defend their shorts by dumping on Bitstamp their prepared bitcoins for this purpose? Perhaps some experienced trader can share his thoughts? And in this regard, is the longs vs shorts ratio on Bitfinex (293 mln vs 45 mln) a threat for the price, i.e. a potential long squeeze? I've noticed that Bitfinex longs are more stable than on Bitmex. The volume is the same as it was when the price was above 10K. Better funded perhaps, so it is hard to get a long squeeze even from 10K down to 7K. On Bitmex there is parity (312 vs 330 mln).
I don't really know much of anything to attempt to explain your various observations, but many of us likely realize that the price pushes on one exchange could actually end up paying off on another exchange, so just logically, it seems to me that having disparities in the number of longs versus shorts on one exchange versus another exchange causes some short term arbitrage opportunities that might set up for a kind of BIG play of some manipulator(s) (aka whale(s)) who believe that they are in a position to take advantage of such exchange disparities.

The Lightning Network will soon be able to support larger Bitcoin payments.Blockstream announced today that it is closer to solving one of the biggest problems facing the Lightning Network, Bitcoin’s scaling solution. A better way of sending large payments across the network is coming soon. Atomic Multi-Path Payments (AMP) over Lightning were first proposed by Lightning Labs co-founder Conner Fromknecht and its Head of Engineering, Olaoluwa Osuntokun, in 2018. But it wasn’t until May this year that a new routing proposal was merged into the Lightning spec, providing a fix to Bitcoin’s long-standing payment problems, including AMP. Sending payments over the AMP protocol would improve the privacy of Lighting Network intermediaries and provide fee savings, as well as other benefits. Multi path payments are so much more important than people realize yet. It will make lightning payments look a little more like chips on a poker table as opposed to beads on an abacus. It's a bad analogy since there are not winners/losers. But what we can do is move value around the network MUCH more organically. Not only will it allow bigger payments, but it will also free up the ability for the network to begin to balance itself. In fact I see this is an area that something AI like could be set up to manage routing. Hopefully they are getting the security right.

Well, looks like the Brit gits are about to commit economic suicide. Thank heavens there is bitcoin so the people can exchange their worthless "pound" for something that will have value.
I'm going to enjoy watching this unfold.

Solution: switch to linux
I haven't worked on a a Mac since the mid 90's but afaik Macs are now on a Linux kernel so there should be a workaround. Close. BSD. But diverging therefrom.

Sense of guilt disclosure. I have to confess I do have to use Win10 for some things because reasons
My Win10 use is limited to my VR rig. Mostly, anyhoo. And wifey's SecondLife station.

Less so than previously. Used to be able to compile and run pretty much any *nix project on Mac, GUI components allowing. Not so much any longer.

I think the problem is that the opposition offered even more economic suicide. Even if they kept it soft with the EU their Venezuelan ideas would've driven away most business. Unbelievable that it's come to this. The only bright spot is the Scottish Nationalists wiping out everyone up North which means the union might break up and I can leave England to slowly fist itself. Failing that I may buy some toothless Bulgarian grandma for a pittance so I can marry her.

Ireland becomes an economic wasteland and begs to join with their bretheren.

I doubt Ireland can afford the Northern Irish, let alone want them. The current arrangement suited them very nicely. Northern Ireland costs the British taxpayer a shit ton to run. The rest of the UK picked up the tab, kept a lid on the loyalist nutters and the flow of business into Ireland was seamless.

Only in the short term. In the longterm EU Is gonna perform a lot worse. It's a sinking ship and leaving can bring some turbulance. But once you save yourself and you reach the shore of an island you can start a better life.
