Bitcoin’s 12-year history has been peppered with vertiginous gains and equally sharp drops. It volatility has hampered use for payments and made many larger investors wary.

Backers hoped than in 2020 a more mature market and fewer retail investors have lowered the chances of the kind of crash that followed its 2017 bubble.

Traders cited for the drop the unwinding of highly leveraged positions built up as bitcoin approached its record, as well as tweets by the CEO of major cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase expressing concern at rumours of a regulatory crackdown.

There will be more FUD like this next year....all year long.

So, ATH soon is a given IMHO, then what ? Stay up there, go significantly higher ? Then what ? Do you think a pullback to 4 digits USD is possible ? Asking for a friend.
4 digits is no longer possible.  That time has passed.

That does feel like a knife in vegeta's back.
Back down to $17k

Always when we get so close to ATH it drops down 3x as much from before.
A dark cloud is upon BTC price action.

Just like vegeta's tears in the rain. Cry

So, is Bitcoin dead yet?

[...] NO ONE can participate in bitcoin from all angles [...]

You said my name.

Yes... including ur lil selfie.

In the past several months, we have learned more and more about your BTC investment approach and some of your perspectives in respect to lillie fiend.

No problema.

Whether you choose to continue to participate and reveal more or to roll with the punches in these here parts remains within your discretion.

Furthermore, we have had some back and forth in various regards including how balancing BTC with other investments might work and the extent to which spending BTC might be preferable to giving such BTC to others... and surely some politics can skew world-views, too.. whether we agree about various points or not.

In any event, if details are shared, NOT even nullius can reasonably persist in holding himself out as an everyman, once we get to know such lil fella (#nohomo) a wee bit better (whether we had wanted to increase such acquaintances or no).     Tongue Tongue

to comfort myself in this dip I have bought two claymore mines. Unfortunately I couldn't find a live one, so I had to settle for replicas. I will, like my hero and role model Ron Swanson, have one on my desk and the other one as a hitch cover.

Good morning WO! I see a lil weak hand shake out happened during the night. Traders must have their cut off losses, this is part of the game. I guess some of them are selling in expectation of some 2017 style correction like 30-40% from the last top. But this time it is different. The big institutional buyers are leading the charge. This never happened before in the history of Bitcoin. They are not looking for short terms profits not to mention cut losses. And indeed in the last 8 months we had only one noticeable correction of 20%. It remains to be seen if this tendency will continue. So far 10%.  Roll Eyes

I agree with you that "this time is different" in regards to a kind of ongoing FOMO dynamic of quite a few institutional buyers.... but in the end, so fucking what?

I doubt that some of these BIGGER players are going to change the dynamic too much in terms of what is possible or likely in terms of dips - and in fact, there is some necessity for some of these BIGGER players to come into bitcoin in order for us to get some kind of pattern that might play out similar to either 2013 or 2017 but with 100x or 20x (respectively) more capital needed in order to move the BTC price in explosive ways.

Sure, in some sense, you are definitionally correct about "this time is different" because every time is going to be different in several regards to previous times, but in any event the BTC price prediction models still remain amongst the best of what we have in order to at least outline parameters of what is possible or probable to happening in bitcoinlandia in what appears to be our present cycle... and just for clarity (not necessarily for you, ivomm), the currently persuasive BTC price prediction models I refer to are 1) stock to flow, 2) four-year fractal and 3) s-curve exponential adoption based on metcalfe and networking principles.

So, essentially I am saying that 30% or 40% or greater corrections are possible - whether they are probable or not, I don't really know, but I would not be too surprised or shocked or NOT prepared financially or psychologically for them to happen and even to endure lower and longer than expected, largely because BIG status quo would prefer to remove as many regular Joes from their BTC as they possibly can.... those manipulative fucktwats.   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

That was a good shortie-but-sweetie (only 5 minutes) interview with Michael Saylor, and he continues to be quite a good spokesperson on the bitcoin investment thesis - even though he might have been a bit better served by more directly attempting to address the underlying volatility of bitcoin concerns that seem to have been underlying the CNBC interviewer's perception of bitcoin.  Furthermore, she came off as a bit hostile to Microstrategy's investment approach and she was NOT shy to directly confront him about this - and even though it may have seemed that he was dodging or avoiding her questions regarding defining the mission of Microstrategy, he did end up directly responding to her point that may have well undermined any further naysaying from her - though we might not have known this with any certainty since mainstream media does seem to be a wee bit shy about having any kind of extended interviews, anyhow, so the interview ended with Michael making his point in a way that seemed pretty strong, at least from a bitcoiner's (referring to yours truly) perspective.

By the way, I merited your post, dude, because the interview was quite informative.. .. yet I do believe that it would be MOAR helpful for you (and any other posters) to go beyond merely posting links without descriptors (known as click-bait) - but, instead, to give some kind of title or descriptor for such links in order that we WO peeps do not have to click such link-only posts in order to figure out what such links happen to be about.
