According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

When science is backed by the companies that want to sell their product. Or when fact checkers are owned/sponsored by billionairs invested heavily in pharma companies lol. Legal crime and sheeple people applaud it.

Every dip is getting eaten at the moment, this feels like a really strong base for a run at a new ATH within the next 6-8 weeks.

I’m a lot happier with the way things are going at the moment. We’ve all been involved in bitcoin for a long time now but it doesn’t make times like May 2021 any easier. I was a panicking little bitch for long periods back then. It really does feel like we’re getting ready for new highs soon now.

I can feel the engines starting up, the train is getting ready to leave the station once again.

I have spirals in my eyes... but I think we are about to watch the big one.

the noon wall report

Positive sentiment and continued accumulation sends bitcoin to a new local high at $46,787.60 on moderate volume. Cheezeburger Thursdays and weekend pamps do seem possible.

On the earlier discussion about money not making you happy.

I recall a study done where it's not so much that money makes you happy but not having money makes you less happy.

I think the key is to reach the point where you're not worried about money anymore so you can focus on better things in life. But the less money you have, you certainly do need to worry about money. I've been at the lowest end of the scale to well beyond the highest and I would agree.

I would caveat this with the fact that though I did not have money (I figured out the many ways to cook potatoes as it was all I had to eat for weeks, and later finding Bar-S hot dogs for $1 and a loaf of bread for $1 could get me through a week of meals) I knew that if things got too bad I could fall back on family. So my level of desperation never hit huge lows.

My current goal in life is not about having super cool awesome stuff, lambos, etc. It's about ensuring that the rest of my life I am not in the position I was early in my life. My problem with government has always been that they are the biggest factor in stopping me from ensuring my future through the use of violence.

Thx elwar…. I’m very interested in these kind of studies…

Good when I have some discussions with some peeps

I’m of the opinion Money doesn’t make happy… but it make thing way easier and that’s why it does make people happy

Like not have the need of worrying to pay monthly bills, able of going on holidays etc

Then comes the point of more money could be better, holidays can go easier more exciting, a bigger car, better house little more luxury things etc

Do I need most of gadgets not really but when there is more money then mostly more things are being bought.

I can say there isn’t really a lot making me happy these days from gadgets, I do like a nice house to call home and a nice car to drive with…. So money doesn’t necessarily makes one happy but the comfort it can give and taking away some stress points that’s something anyone becomes happy from…

Being able of taking my Gf or brother or someone I like on a trip or at a high class restaurant and give them the experience they wouldn’t have … that makes me happy as well

So I’m in favor of having more money as less money is a thing that could give join, an important thing maybe is to use it on important stuff as well and not only gadgets …

Agree.  This graph really lets us see what we instinctively know that Money can make you UNHAPPY when you are having to constantly focus on gaining it.  But after you are "secure" then there is not so much change.  Seeing that quantified as 75k per year seems like it is right from my own experience.  There are two modes:

Paycheck to Paycheck.  Must be disconnected from money to be happy.
Enough.  Money will not be a stressor, but happiness must still be chosen and pursued.

Critical thinking skills are neither easy to develop nor easy to employ in practice.

Even people that we know to be very smart will consider themselves to be engaging in critical thinking skills, but they somehow are not able to sort between substantive and material facts and to give proper (reasonably proper) weight to either questionable facts or questionable logic.

We are all guilty of these kinds of errors at some level because there are a large number of instances when we are not able to know all of the facts or logic and we have to make various kinds of leaps of faith to fill in some of those gappenings - of course, many of us will argue quite stringently, even while knowing that we are making some leaps of faith on some aspects of the position(s) that we take.

Every dip is getting eaten at the moment, this feels like a really strong base for a run at a new ATH within the next 6-8 weeks.

I would like to watch the BIG ONE when it comes too, and surely I would like to be told when it is happening (if it happens) and where to look, exactly (if there is a place to look).

Thanks for that warning cAPS.   Wink Wink  I am going to keep my eyes peeled for this one.

Oh, never paid much attention to that. It's a good thing I just keep all of them. I do understand the reflow thing, but I don't like much when some text have hard-coded page numbers in them and reflow causes a little confusion. It's a minor thing and probably the fault of the author for not making the text "know" which goes to what page.

Page numbers really don't make much sense in an e-reader. They are useful though so Amazon, at least has started allowing authors (or rather whatever you call people who compile e-books) to include them. Not sure about the open formats but theoretically they're not hard to add so if they're not there already, they may be later.

Most of the PDFs I have had to view are in Letter format, 8.5 x 11, so it's not an issue for me personally. I guess it's a "metric" vs "imperial" kind of thing where everyone should be using A4, but you know how these standards developed and the countries that use them. It's going to take awhile before some countries stop using miles and pounds and "Letter"

I doubt we'll be seeing the end of letter anytime soon. A4 has the advantage that it has the same ratio if halved or doubled (hence A3, A5 etc) but letter has handy multiples of inches. As a point of interest, hexaflexagons are said to have been invented when an American studying in England was messing around with the bits of paper he'd cut off to fit his binders.

So i stand by my point, people get happier if they get rich, because they know how money makes them able to buy things that make them happy.
BUT many things make you happy only for a short time. So people want "more happy", buy more things. The old supercar isn't super anymore? No problem, buy a new one. Enjoy it until you see the next, even more super supercar. The moment you know there is a better one you want to have, you're unhappy (about still having the old one).

They think they're buying things that make them happy. But for most things, it's not the thing, it's the buying that gives a short-term dopamine hit. Understanding what makes you happy requires introspection, understanding and the ability to confront some possibly hard truths.

Well one good thing about covid is township changed rules on sheds.

I can have 2 of them. 120 sq ft each.

Vs 1 at 100 sq ft.

With the fall in lumber prices, mine is back on the table. Aiming for 12x20 which is the same size as the neighbor's shed which it'll be sitting next to. I've got to get an awkwardly growing tree down first though.

Presuming that you are building it rather than a premade, since you continue to mention lumber prices.. and sure, I suppose if you order a premade.. they are quoting you based on then lumber prices.

Do you already have your workers lined up, or you building it yourself?

Nothing like maintaining symmetry with the neighbor.  #nohomo

My experience: You can only be worried about money if you have money you don't want to lose, for any reason.
No money, no worries (about money).
No woman, no cry.

Money well gives you security, which again, is not happiness. Well, maybe happiness is sometimes dependent on security. But it's not the same at all.

You have to realize that your personal experience does not apply to the whole population.
You might not get happier if you get rich, but the majority of people do, as shown by science, and me.

In this one you are simply wrong I'm afraid.

Still, it's not the money that makes you happier. It are the things it buys you, aren't they?
So i stand by my point, people get happier if they get rich, because they know how money makes them able to buy things that make them happy.
BUT many things make you happy only for a short time. So people want "more happy", buy more things. The old supercar isn't super anymore? No problem, buy a new one. Not sure about this. Wasn't freedom what we were looking for? The "fuck you" level?

There's a lot of unseen continuous costs coming with "things", be it a house, a car, a laptop or a TV: taxes, storage room, subscriptions, memberships, repair and maintenance etc.

Buying more things is not the right way of maintaining fuck you level, mate.

After all this hodling and determination for years and years to get this virtual money running, are you really going to find happiness in spending your profits on material stuff? Not saying you're wrong or right, only that I have other plans.

(FYI if I'm not mistaken, the true meaning of "No woman no cry" is actually "No woman, don't cry")

A Dutch family traded ALL of their liquidity for Bitcoin (and some s**t) when BTC was at $900.  They have six hardware wallets stored in various places around the globe.

There is a remark by Chainalylsis in the article that they calculate an estimated 3.7 million BTC are lost.  It would useful for us to KNOW, but that figure sounds about right.
