I bet this was ordered to discredit Bukele and Bitcoin. When I see a word combination "non-profit organization" I read CIA (or some other three letter agency) between the lines. It's hard to believe average joe journalists can detect war spyware like Pegasus, identify the person behind it, locate all victims etc. Looks like a job for intelligence guys. He's a demagogue and a wannabe dictator. If he wasn't so into Bitcoin he'd be derided here (if anyone even knew who he is) for his actions and policies, from firing Supreme Court judges to inflationary spending to COVID lockdowns. He's a populist and seems to be well liked in El Salvador. But I have little doubt that the spyware story is true.

It most probably is true, but I question the goals and motivation behind this investigation. Also, very suspicious anti-bitcoin, anti-Bukele movement showed up in El Salvador all of a sudden right before the legal tender bill. Luckily, it didn't grow to the scale of riots or civil unrest but was probably sponsored by some external anti-Bitcoin forces.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqPJiM5Ir3AWhy People WILLINGLY Give Up Their Freedoms W/ Prof. Mattias Desmet |Mass Formation Psychosis What are the conditions in any society that will cause a people to willingly sacrifice their freedoms? Mattias Desmet has studied and lectured extensively on this phenomenon. He is a professor of clinical psychology at Ghent University has and holds a masters degree in statistics. After noticing some anomalies in the statistical analyses conducted during the pandemic, he became concerned by the consensus narrative. He joined me today to discuss his expertise in a phenomenon called ‘mass formation’, a type of collective hypnosis essential for the rise of totalitarian regimes. He provides the step by step formula for this collective psychosis to take hold and how this relates to our current situation. He cautions against the dangers of our current societal landscape and offers solutions both individually and collectively to prevent the willing sacrifice of our freedoms. Mattias DesMet; Professor of Clinical Psychology from BELGIUM, researches and lectures in mass formation (psychosis) events from history.

The same thing could of easily been written about Lee Kwon Yew, and look at how that turned out for Singapore. This could easily be a hit piece funded by his enemies (as mentioned by others), but if not, I think it is hard to judge him from our comfortable western views. For instance, let's imagine that a country is so corrupt that the rule of law is ignored at all authority levels. How would a completely pure man, reform this country with his good intentions and completely honorable actions. He couldn't, sometimes you need to fight fire with fire. So let's not be too hasty in judging him. If he turns El Salvador into a Singapore, we'll know his actions were probably justified.
