bitcoinity just did the odd thing on my machine where the depth graph on the ask side remains flat for a rather big period before showing some action. I was pretty puzzled but reloaded fast enough before starting to ponder about who is possibly manipulating the market at the moment

Yeah well, basically no one knows jack... Everyone is just speculating - like you and me - and drawing colorful patterns on logarithmic charts. I, myself, believe we're still on track for any potential bubble to come. But hey, maybe we need another big dip or won't even see a bubble this year. No one knows!

A couple of months ago I tried issuing a daily ~20h prediction based on a hunch that I though might work (the "Chinese Slumber Method").  But in the end it was not significantly better than the trivial method "tomorrow the price will be the same as today". 

So my prediction for  tomorrow at this hour on Bitstamp is 621.18 USD.   Also for next year on this day, too.

So my prediction for  tomorrow at this hour on Bitstamp is 621.18 USD.   Also for next year on this day, too.  

Certainly as good as any prediction I've seen on this board...and actually better than most!

if they take the upper hand, this jump could easily end up as merely a bounce from a local floor.

On the other hand, they'd immediately join the train when it really starts and when it is obvious that it isn't just a short rally but another full-blown bubble. Those are the things that really get a bubble going!

It seems, the most probable thing to happen is that all those miners or entities having to dump sell a part of their coins every other day only drive the price down gradually. Let's see what happens...

I don't bet unless I believe I am right and I believe that I know why the other guy is wrong.  And even then a pizza and beer is my upper limit.
