Someone please wake me up when the ETF goes live

Do you really think ETF will boost the price of Bitcoin.
I do not believe on this theory.

An open door where millions of dollars can instantly be poured into Bitcoin easily?  How can it not boost the price is the question!

Simply: if a door opens and you can buy toilet paper for $400, will you jump in? Just because the opportunity has opened for this? Smiley

Don't think so.

Bitcoin was ONLY interesting as long long as bubbles could have happened. Those times are done (maybe there will be a couple of SMALL bubbles, but in the end market lost the confidence in BTC, as it should have been loosing it. It's a joke, which can be manipulated, destroyed, or raised with a few millions of USD. That is something that NEVER could happen with any real currency in the world).

Thanks for the link!

However, the 4-month gap in the OKCoin data (Feb to May)  is inexcusable, and invalidates some of their comments.  Bitcoinwisdom has got the OKCoin volume throughout that period, and it was in fact 15-25% higher than Huobi's.  Moreover, there are/were other exchanges in China besides those 3.  And MtGOX, not included in that aanalysis, had significant volume through the November rally.

My retired father has $10k in his retirement account he's ready to drop in as soon as it is available.  He doesn't want to invest any other way for tax reasons.  I'm sure he's not alone.

we will finally stop watching bear stamps.

Those who waits for ETF totaly fucked the market, cause anything other is not important. And you know what, ETF is imo not coming for at least a year or even two. Till then we will be just bleeding?

If you asked what would happen if paypal would start integrating bitcoin in the begining of this year everyone would be screeming 5k or 10k, now we can not fuckingly climb back to $500. And manipulators know that and they are here to milk everyone. Just because everyone wants to sell to buy a bit more a little lower of the cheap coins.

We did this ourself. When ETF comes and no result - then what? Smth new will come and ETF won't be a wanted story anymore. Damn, just sell to buy a bit lower a bit more.

BitChick, maybe a bit off-topic, but I'm wondering - about a little over a year ago, you and your husband were pouring your monthly savings all into Bitcoin. Are you still a permabull at this stage, and are you two still pouring every penny leftover each month straight into BTC?

We had a green 15000 BTC 1h candle on Finex a week ago....
Didn´t start a reversal, so those 9500BTC won´t help.
BTC would need real and big buyers, shorts covering can´t prevail the downfall anymore.

We are definitely permabulls.  However, there is not much left over to pour in at this point.  We had a bunch of extra expenses this year (braces for one kid, new car for hubby, etc. . . )  It is frustrating to see the price at a good point and not have the liquidity to throw any more cash in.  Embarrassed  But we haven't really sold any.  Just holding, and holding, and holding.  I think I am learning a little patience in all of this. Wink

Now if the ETF opens we will move a small amount from a retirement account into it.  I think many people will.  Sure it is probably going to be considered "high risk" but with "high risk" often comes great reward. Smiley

Saddly that is not yours or mine decision. We don't have enough coins to affect the market. But there is enough sheeps to help doing what we don't want.

Rather, with high risk comes the high probability of losing most of your investment (as this is practically the definition of 'high risk'), and merely a small chance at great rewards.

Else your investment would've been low risk, obviously..

I remember you pouring everything you had into BTC when it was $1200. Gonna find that topic now and bump it for the education of others. Being perma-anything is a bad thing, and greed has obscured both your visions. The descision of never selling anything as BTC was reaching ATH's was clearly a bad one.

Never bought at $1200.  Sorry to disappoint. Wink  We thought about selling some at that price but we were concerned about capital gains taxes.  They are lower if we hold the coins for a year or more.  It wasn't quite a year yet.   Undecided  This time around we will be fine. Wink

I take some offense at your comment about "greed" though.  Sad  Hubby and I do our best to live our lives in a way that is generous.  We give 10% to charity each month.  I am going on a mission trip to India in six weeks, (partially funded by BTC).  We never ever invested more than we could afford to lose 100% of and be fine.  We just really believe that Bitcoin is revolutionary and worth pouring a decent sized investment into it.  If it means we have to cut back on some things to do so, it is totally worth it!
