... The question stands: What was the intended message of that chart, beyond "oooh, scary!"?
I didnt post it. But try comparing it a chart of bitcoin issuance from 2009 to 2140 Then why respond?

What is the intended message behind your trolling? is it because you are a good samaritan ? a saint? a helpful kind of person? because you are trying to "save" people? what is the point of your posts porkchop ? hmmm ? we do all wonder, it confuses us so much (/s) Why you spend soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much time on here, being a douche? trying to "help" You must be like jesus, a real saint, you should get an award. Not Jesus. Just a concerned adult. But if deifying me helps... ... How come all bears seem illiterate? Why hang on this forum? Because you're a good Samaritan? ... Sorta...

I got as far as "concerned adult" and stopped reading. whatever Lambchop, unless you are getting paid, then you are just wasting your life (and our time) and acting like a massive prat, do not for 1 second even think that you are accomplishing anything, or fooling anyone with your BS. Even if by the 0.05% chance you are trying to be helpful, you shoot yourself in the foot by acting like such a massive douche. FACT. Honestly lad, sort yourself out.

No that is called seeing some total bullshit and thinking "whatever, I am not interested in reading that shyte" You carry on old chap, totally unaware, and wasting your time, pity you could not do so a little more silently to be honest. Your life to waste, if you feel like wasting your precious time here, accomplishing nothing, then you know, well done sunshine.

I'll concede the uselessness of Metcalfe's Law as a predictor, that is for academic discussion. I don't believe Metcalfe's Law even applies to Bitcoin, because it is not a network. It doesn't need a lot of nodes, only a lot of decentralized miners.
The network would be the users. Mining is not directly relevant (though may affect the price) I agree, Metcalfe's law for Bitcoin should use (number of customers)x(number of merchants) instead of (number of users) 2. Unfortunately we do not have data on the number of customers and how it is evolving. I suppose that when Dell started to "accept bitcoins" there was a rush of bitcoin holders buying from them. Ditto from each other major merchant that "accepted bitcoins". Has that trade been increasing, decreasing, stagnating? We do not know. The blockchain cannot tell us that, as discussed already. Unfortunately BitPay and Coinbase are privately funded, so they do not need to post independent audits every quarter, and they can be as creative as they like in their press releases. And even if we knew how much BitPay is processing every month, we would not know how much of that volume is really people using bitcoin because they find it better (cheaper/faster/easier/etc) method of paying for goods and services than other forms, and how much is other uses (such as people using BitPay as a way to exchange bitcoins for dollars). A while ago, BitPay announced that they had processed a single transaction worth 1 million dollars: a downpayment by HashTrade to BFL for a batch or mining equipment. But now some people claim to have evidence that the bitcoins in that transaction belonged to BFL itself...

No dear, that is not how it works dear, you do not get to tell adults what to do dear, do not worry when you grow up it will all become less scary and you will not feel the need for attention so much, and you will be able to have coherent thoughts, and you may even learn some social skills. anyway dear, I am really bored of you now dear, so run along like a good little child and go play with your toys, try to play nicely dear.
