And another thing that you might put your brilliant legal mind to Strudle (or dick-eating propagandist mind to as the case may be):

Do you suppose that @MagicalFux was trying to imply that the U.S. Govt barred Mt. Gox from sending out USD wires which didn't have a 5% fuck-you-sucker charge but says that those which do are A-OK?
Right. That's just an excuse dreamed up by Mt. Gox's defenders. Even Mt. Gox doesn't say that officially.

If there was some action by the U.S. Government, it would affect funds being sent to Mt. Gox from US banks. Somehow, sending money to Mt. Gox from the US always works fine. Nobody has ever reported a wire transfer to Mt. Gox being returned to sender. Somehow, Mt. Gox's problems are always on the withdrawal side.

Yes, the U.S. Government's Office of Foreign Asset Control tells banks to block money transfers to certain persons and organizations Here is the searchable list.  Only 18 names in Japan are listed. Mt Gox, Tibanne, and Karpeles are not on the list. OFAC only says "yes" or "no"; there's no procedure which imposes a rate limit.

Reality: The U.S. Government doesn't care much about Bitcoin. They only care if you do something illegal with Bitcoins that would be illegal if you did it with some other currency or commodity.

Bingo!

I tried a cheap bank which used Citibank in London as intermediate for sending SEPA transfers. (I didn't know at the time I signed up.)  When I tried to transfer a deposit to Intersango on the first day, the bank told me Citibank refused to process my transfer due to U.S. sanctions.  Intersango isn't on the list either.  I reported the bank to the Norwegian Financial Authority for imposing arbitrary restrictions on money transfer, and the bank contacted me right back and offered a settlement, but that's another story.  I was a customer of this bank for one day only.

Citibank Japan no longer accept withdrawals from MtGox either, btw.  According to reports in this thread.

Anyhow, I think the Bitinstant case is a hint to why transfers are blocked, and why Mark haven't been allowed to talk about it.  I don't know why the 5% option works (5% is due to 2x currency conversion fees, it is not a MtGox fee), but I know the method is very limited.  I frequently get reports from European users getting their money after only four days by this option.  Is it slower for U.S. users?  It should be slow for everyone now, since it is restricted by the same 100M JPY limit that limits as Japanese domestic transfers.

To those of you who are insulting me: I will only answer your questions after you have sent me an apology signed by your mum.  My finger has become very attracted to the ignore button as well, and I may not see your apology.  Sorry about that.

I just had a 1/27 stuck btc withdrawal credited back to my account. There was no mention of the credit in the boilerplate message I got from gox in response to my ticket but the goxcoins are in my account now so I guess I roll the dice again on a withdrawal?

split it in small amounts, as I've stated, my 0.3 has gone through in minutes, and I did it in the middle of withdraw chaos (on the 30th).

I have been waiting for my BTC being withdrawn since last Sunday (26th Jan).
Today I logged into my Gox account and found that withdrawn bitcoins are now returned back to my balance.

Now I don't know if I should try and withdraw again...... or just to keep them until the withdrawal issues are gone.

According to the 25 days estimate, I should be able to get my JPY cash on the Feb 15th/16th.

my friend initiated JPY withdrawal on Jan 7 and got it on Jan 28 (Mizuho bank). It used to be couple of days max. I wonder if JPY withdrawals to JNB account are actually faster. Has anyone successfully withdrawn JPYs to JNB recently?

I made a JPY withdrawal through my JapaNet bank account on Jan 28th, today still waiting.

I made two withdrawals on 8th and 9th Jan, JPY to japanese account.

The first completed end last week, the 2nd completed  today.

Making another withdrawal today, will update on how long that takes.

So that amounts to 22/23 business days waiting time.
Wondering whether JNB is really faster. It should be. Will create a JNB account today.

My withdrawal on JNB account is in confirmed status since January 28th ... i'm not so sure it is faster  Sad

Week 2 my withdrawl to online wallet has not been processed. Support ignoring all my email except sending me 2 to tell me with developmental team. If you don't process a transaction you can send it anywhere you want. Ignoring emails is classic ponzi behavior as no legitimate  company would go that route.  Mt gox is a criminal and thief.
