When the bankruptcy is executed, the BTC IOU's are assigned fiat value according to the day of bankruptcy. So the cheaper they can push them, using all the methods available, the less they owe. Legally, Gox can pay all that is owed, but the 2 years the court process takes, makes all the difference on who holds the goodies in the end.

You make some good points, but there is no way a court will use the Gox price when they set the market value of the BTC. For this plan to work they will need to somehow crash the price at the other exchanges as well. If your theory is correct we will see someone dump huge amounts all over the place and then have Gox declare bankruptcy.

When I lift my eyes, this is all I see around me...

They changed my 7 jan SEPA withdraw status to pending , i see this as a sign like: let us clean the house before opening the btc gates, and whoever ask for fiat should now deposit new fresh money if wants to buy our cheap btc !
My SEPA withdrawals from the 2nd, 3rd and 4th still have status "Confirmed". I had no withdrawals in the 20 days before that.
I think you're making up some positive story to get people to "deposit new fresh money" at MtGox.
To my surprise, my SEPA withdrawal from 28 Jan not only has changed status to pending, but also arrived to my bank account today Shocked. However it is just 100 EUR.

because literally EVERYTHING related to bitcoin is a scam.

I cashed out of bitcoin and I am literally done, I will not buy back in at any price.

Physical metals are the best alternative currency, not cryptogarbage.

There are now sure a lot of people in line now. Almost all have sold and must get out the FIAT. Coins are indeed locked. By the way: Something new from Gox?

There seems to be good news everywhere that Gox will resume BTC TX soonish. Any scenario where this could not happen? Unless Gox is developing a huge scam, TX should resume soon, right?
All winds blow to they will be back on track very soon   Wink
Source for the good news?

I think you talk BS... my SEPA from 3 Jan. is still on 'confirmed'.

I also requested a small withdraw (160+€) on 27th Jan. and its status changed from 'confirmed' to 'pending', it's not bullshit. Still it's small amounts and only information, I guess queue is processing but it's definitly only some information, not a "MtGox is solvent and cool" statement. Plus this thread name is "MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering]" so don't be mad if people are posting their story about their withdrawals...

Edit : btw, remember BTC withdrawals and Fiat ones are not related

If you have fiat waiting in line to cash out from Gox at this point you are doing it wrong. I bet a lot of big cash-outs have been canceled the last couple of days.

"(...) Once the implementation is complete customers will again be able to deposit bitcoin, but we will be doing extensive testing before bitcoin
withdrawals are reactivated. We will publish an update on the situation on Monday ."

Well something is happening, still no confirmation on BTC withdrawals though.

There seems to be 2 issues here:

1. Withdrawal of BTCs

2. Gox manipulated the market with this issue

It looks like the withdrawal of BTCs will be resolved soon (still speculative though).

For me personally, the second issue is pretty much irrelevant, bc I will get my BTCs out of there as soon as I can and never work with Gox again. And I will never be able to take Gox to court for the loss I incurred with this (my time and paying lawyers will be more expensive than the money I could get ever back).
As I can't fix that problem, it stops being a problem for me. Even if personally I am very pissed with them and I am sure many people are incredibly angry with them due to the large amount of financial losses.

I can sleep better tonight.

Of course, it's above their intelligence level to understand the full details - so they are expected to blame someone else for their own stupidity level.

I had to find the passage back

Well ... it's a known issue for almost 2 years, even on the Wiki for over a year ... and the longest standing BTC exchange still did it wrong ...
Certainly sounds like a bunch of morons to me.

No doubt once they came up with the excuse to stop people getting their BTC, they then played the financial scam to to advantage.
Clearly software design skills and financial scam skills are unrelated ... as MtGox has proven Smiley

indeed, where the incompetence of their software dev's was the first problem, and could be seen as simple human error, the events which have evolved over the past week or so (months - with regards to fiat withdrawals) are unforgivable.

One look at the price disparity between MTGOX and all other Bitcoin exchanges and it becomes clear, the market has spoken and called MTGOX out on its BS.

It is interesting the goxBTC is trading at only 50-60% of bsBTC. Have you thought about the following scenario:

I think they are just too stupid to fix the problem within the same timeframe as the other exchanges are able to.
As soon as they are, the price will jump onto the level of bitstamp or higher again. If I had FIAT there I would buy GOX-BTCs now.
