I decided to move my project from the DIY thread to prevent mixups with the other DIY projects.

Product Description:
# 10/20 Avalon chip module - 2.82/5.56 Ghash/s nominal speed, massive overclocking possible
# 4 Layer thermally enhanced PCB
# PIC32 native USB-Controller
# CAN-Bus inter-module communication (Only one USB connection for up to 32 Modules)
# Power Connectors: 6Pin VGA, barrel jack for wallwart, power-stacking-connector.
# Power requirement: ~20/40 Watts @ 12V
# Onboard 60A(80A) switcher for core voltage
# Easy stacking option
# Host protocol: Avalon emulation
# Temperature controlled Fan

More pictures: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=179769.msg2424435#msg2424435

Order Website: www.burninmining.com

Stacking will be similar to the cairnsmore boards from Enterpoint.
The CAN-Bus module connection will allow modules to form a big cluster like the Avalon machines.
That way you need only one USB-Connection for up to 16 Modules, maximum bus-length >10 Mtr.
Adequate cooling solution will be provided.
The host protocol will be an emulation of the Avalon host protocol.
Mining Software will be cgminer.
This is an open-source project, the sources will be released when the product ships.

Ordering and Pricing Info:
i offer only an assembly service this means you have to buy the Chips yourself and have them send to me for assembly.

I assemble for anyone that wants Avalon chips turned into Mining boards.
I work closely with these group buys:
Zefir (order window closed)
ragingazn628 (order window closed)
SebastianJu (closed)
www.asic-chips.com

Zefirs sale thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=177827.0
SebastianJu's: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=187660.0

>> you have to be able to sign messages with address used for the payment of the chips!<<

How will the ordering work?
You order from your distributor and tell him you want your chips to be assembled by me, this usually requires a signed message.
Then the Distributor will ship the chips directly to me for assembly.
Head to www.burninmining.com and place your assembly order.
As a second Verification step I need a signed message that contains the delivery address of you order.
The instructions for that will be send via email and posted in this thread.

A how2 for the signing process with bitcoin-qt can be found here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=179769.msg1922342#msg1922342

Assembly cost can be paid with BitPay, Paypal, Wire Transfer.
Final prices:
BitBurner 10 Chip Complete: 98 eur
BitBurner 20 Chip Complete: 105 eur
BitBurner 10 Chip without cooler: 90 eur
BitBurner 20 Chip without cooler: 96 eur
Price + shipping and VAT.

There will be the following order options:
1. Completed 10 Chip PCB with mounting materials and cooling solution
2. Completed 20 Chip PCB with mounting materials and cooling solution
3. Bare bones assembled 10 or 20 Chip PCBs for the DIY folks
4. Empty 10 or 20 Chip boards for hard-core DIY (If you ordered chips from Zefir i can send them together with the boards)

Timescale:
Usual Processing time for on order: 5 to 10 Days after receiving the customers chips.
Production capability ~1000 modules per week.

warranty
There will be a limited 2 year warranty on my products.

FAQ:

Q: Can I order now to have a "good" place in the order cue?
A: No, you can't, ordering will start with announcement of the definitive price.

Q: I bought 10k chips on my own, can you assemble them?
A: My assembly service is open to anyone who wants Avalon chips turned into mining boards.

Q: Does it have LAN or Wifi connection?
A: No, it is a USB device, you could use a Raspberry Pi, Wifi-router, NAS-device or your PC/Laptop/Mac as host.

Q: Can't the chips be put in sockets?
A: The chips conduct almost all the heat trough a pad underneath, sockets don't provide an adequate thermal connection to this pad.

Q: Where are you based?
A: Hamburg, Germany

Q: Whats your email address?
A: burninmining_AT_gmail.com

Q: Do you offer Shippment to country X?
A: I will ship to almost any country worldwide but check your customs regulations first

Q: I have ordered from a different chip group buy can i use your service?
A: Yes you can, in the best case we would arrange a direct shipping from the distributor to me.

Q: How can I register for your newsletter?
A: Head to this website: http://eepurl.com/zNH7v

Q: Where are you based?
A: Germany

And zefir is Switzerland... great... so if the chips arrive there is not much risk left regarding postage that is insecure and allows random persons to change the delivery address...

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

Maybe we should start a chip group buy in Germany?
Otherwise we might pay unnecessary tax. China-->Switzerland-->Germany-->all user outside EU.
If there is demand for it I would make myself available.

What does one get for said 80 eur?

-Assembled board  + software + psu?
-Assembled board + software ?
-Assembled board ?

What do you provide that costs 80 eur apart from manufacturing a bunch of boards based on the avalon reference design?
Please explain, I'm a bit confused.

Also please don't speculate with shipping dates already.

This is an open-source project, the sources will be released when the product ships.

Does that include the PCB design files?  What else?

Is there the possibility to buy just the blank PCBs from you, and gather the rest of the components and assemble them ourselves?

if we could have the breakdown of the BOM, labor, heat sink , fan, pcb and usb connector  would be great. if someone order 500 chip they will need to
have 50pcb x 80 Euro? 4000Euro on your part? since he is ordering so many pcb and other parts would they be some kind of a quantity discounts?

This looks promising, do you own a company or do you do this by yourself as a private person?

Assembled board+cooling solution+software.

What do you provide that costs 80 eur apart from manufacturing a bunch of boards based on the avalon reference design?
Please explain, I'm a bit confused.

This is a new development from scratch, it isn't based on their reference design,
since that isn't out yet and won't be for another 2 weeks.

This is an open-source project, the sources will be released when the product ships.

Does that include the PCB design files?  What else?

Is there the possibility to buy just the blank PCBs from you, and gather the rest of the components and assemble them ourselves?

Blank PCB's will also be available.
Source release will include PCB-design, BOM and controller sources.

This looks promising, do you own a company or do you do this by yourself as a private person?
I'm in the process of founding a company for this and future projects.

would you have a rough cost on how much the pcb themselves would cost each?

(Rounding up) 1 btc for 10 chips, and 1 more btc for the assembly, so about 2 btc for 2.82 gh/s, with July delivery?

Awesome!

Will you provide some kind of PSU at cost or at least some recommended models? Is there an easier way to power these boards that are stacked besides having one PSU for every board?

Exactly, 10 chips per module.

Will you provide some kind of PSU at cost or at least some recommended models? Is there an easier way to power these boards that are stacked besides having one PSU for every board?

For a single module a 2.5A 12V wallwart will suffice.
Power Stacking will possible through high current screw terminals or 6Pin VGA Bridge cables (not decided yet).
That way 3-4 Modules could be powered through one 6 Pin VGA Connector.
The design will allow the possibility that multiple boards can be mounted on a single heat sink like in the Avalon units.

would you have a rough cost on how much the pcb themselves would cost each?

About 15eur each, still subject to change since board design is not final either.
We're missing pinout and other information that will be released in may.
I will put out a 3d Preview of the PCB next week.

Interested but before I spend 35 BTC on chips only, is your service 100% guaranteed to happen or 90%... or less? What happens if Avalon releases info that make your plans change and price rise (or lower)?

Not trying to shoot you down, I am really interested, but being completely incapable myself of doing PCB or building these, I am not willing to spend 35 BTC on chips if something happens making this project not viable and me ending sitting on 400 useless chips.

Otherwise we might pay unnecessary tax. China-->Switzerland-->Germany-->all user outside EU.
If there is demand for it I would make myself available.

Well, no, Germany is in the EU (or it could be argued, germany _IS_ the EU)

This leads to a really interesting possibility - depending on the relationship between switerzland and german - but I do not see why it would be different than uk - ukrane for example.

You can import electronics _for assembly and resale_ into the eu (as long as the components come from outside the eu and are the assembled devices are sold within the EU) and no vat is paid anywhere along the line. (although you can claim back 10% as if it were paid - 10% of the 17.5% of uk vat (or is it still 20%?) there is something with the import costs being balanced against the 'export' costs and generally work out in your favour.  If you are charging the value of the cost of the chips for the assembly then you wont pay import.

Caveat: all my experience is import for assembly in the uk.  Law is not a speciality, nor something I pretend to understand - what I have posted has been my experience, and how the process was explained to me at the time. - however I may have the odd detail wrong or backward, this is what i remember being shown.  I will check tomorrow and then update this post if needed.

burinin: We already have our own supply and manufacture supply chain. Is there an option for licensing the board designs, BOM, etc so we can use all our own equipment, just not have to put the work in Smiley

I will email when I get a chance.
