What would happen if I connected the second board to a second/different PSU (while the power stacking stays in place)? Would that  work or cause a short circuit or even damage the boards?

I have tried lots of ghetto-style connection setups including powering from different PSUs, different channels of a single PSU, different power connectors of the BTB (jack, ATX, power stacking connectors) at the same time. Nothing bad happened so far.

Once I even have accidentally missed the polarity when connecting power wires to stacking connector and burnt USB connector on my PC (with smell and smoke! Wrong polarity connection caused short circuit from PSU +12V to ground via the board, USB cable and PC). The BitBurner still working though!

burnin, is there any chance to see the firmware source code?

I have tried lots of ghetto-style connection setups including powering from different PSUs, different channels of a single PSU, different power connectors of the BTB (jack, ATX, power stacking connectors) at the same time. Nothing bad happened so far.
I don't recommend that. There can be huge currents flowing from one PSU to the other. The system will try to average the +12v voltage over the two PSUs - current will flow from lower voltage PSU to the PSU which has slightly bigger voltage at that moment. That current can easily overload the wires and burn them. Running BB boards on one PSU connector is close to the current rating of wires on most ATX PSU. For example I use Molex-to-PCIE cable and Molex connector is rated only for 8-10 A, which is what 2 overloclocked BB boards take, so the connectors are quite warm (but as there is enough air flowing, not hot).

I have tried to use part of cheap Molex-to-SATA cable at home (instead of SATA I connected it to the green stacking connector). The cable insulation was gone in smoke after 10 seconds... so these currents is no fun and can be dangerous if not done properly.

BTW, the same applies if you use ATX PSU with separate +12v segments and connect +12v1 to +12v2 segments together. Currents will start flowing through your connection (grounds are already connected in any PC, so they are not an issue). It is OK to run first BB with first +12v1 segment, and another with +12v2 and have them connected via CAN, but DON'T connect the power stacking cable in that case.

Not really. Most current will flow through the BTB as it has much lower input resistance than output resistance of the PSUs.

We all know the story about ASIC chips delay from Yifu.
There was nothing that we could do but wait and grin and bear it.
So I did too, as did the majority of people who paid for the chips.
Unfortunately it came to a point where I can't stand it any more.

Here is a Zefir's post from his Group Buy thread...

Update: Chips shipped out

As promised, I drove to Germany on Saturday with over 30 packages to ship. Can it really be that one single DHL postal office is opened Saturdays after 13:00 within the whole 100km southern belt of Germany? It was, and I found it Smiley

Tracking numbers have already been provided to all recipients.

This is the list of orders that were shipped out, sorted after a) destination and b) address:
.....
.....
.....

If you can't find your shipment on the list, it is either a) you did not enter your shipping destination, or b) your manufacturer of choice did not provide his address (e.g. steamboat).

Those unclaimed chips will be kept for another 2 weeks, where you are given a final chance to request them. Please note that since those are mostly small orders with chips almost worth less than the shipping costs, you will have to pay S&H in advance. After the wait period I will auction the remainder and be done with this Avalon DIY chip distribution.

As soon as you receive your chips, please be fair and pay S&H as described here.

Cheers

....which means that my chips (as well as anybody else's who wasn't lucky
enough to be in Zefir batch #1 or #2) were shipped to burnin exactly one month ago.

So far I've been patient all way along and for high esteem I hold burnin at
for everything he did for the community, but now I have to vent my indignation:

IT IS UNACCEPTABLE !

One month and not a single word, an update, an email or a piece of information.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH (with irony)

PS
For my order I paid to burnin on 24th of July and no, I will not perish because of it
but it just makes me PISSED OFF the way customers are treated.

I didn't think to order a power supply in advance, doh. The strongest wallwart I can find in my house I'm not using is 12V 2A. I saw burnin mention earlier in thread that a 12V 2.5A would be okay to run a single bitburner board. Would a 12V 2A work safely? I'm running a single 20 chip XX board.

I received my bitburners today order 5xx.
Nice design and layout by burnin.
I have them running on a RasPi with no problems encountered.
When I get some time I will build a CAN bus cable and update the firmware.

He did for sure
the problem is, that my old working till now distro is not up to date, and compiling newest cgminer is impossible.
BTB works nice @430 (@450 i`m getting just 30Ghash wit 6 units) and i`m having 50-51Ghash witch is ok for me.

I have a similar problem with miners i host for a user. My own miners and other miners i sold directly to another user are running fine at 450mhz. But these miners here not. Im now down to 430mhz and they rund faster each time in lower mhz. I dont know why. The 2 psu should mean enough power. And 3.5 miners running before had the same problem. So the only thing i can think of is that it might be different power supply parts on the board? Or are the newer cgminer-versions negative? I really dont know.

i`m running cgminer 3.4.0 with a line and sudo.
Sommetimes it happens that speed is diffferent. once it`s 45Gh, once it`s 51....dunno why.
no change in my line or smth.

Is it possible to change fan speed by hand "on the fly" ??
Is there a photo of power section and a point where to check Vcore ?
I`m confused with cgminer`s 1.32 when i set 1.28 or so.

Yes, but with the --avalon-auto they are running up to 455  ( BTB 0 = 453;  BTB 1 = 455;  BTB 2 =451 ) with this setting.
If the voltage is below 1285, they don´t reach the 450.

Order 6xx Still processing. Hmmmm.

I've got (3) 6xx orders "still processing" since it was paid in July. This is BS.

Agreed, one of these boards is being reshipped to me. Pretty disappointed  Undecided
