@ coins101 and/or KarmaShark
I was not in the AMA so not sure if this was asked.
About the snap shot. Are only coins in local wallet counted?
Basically what I mean is if coins are on an exchange will we have to pull them out and put them in our local wallet or will you exchange one for one with coins on say BitTrex and then it will be up to BitTrex to distribute the coins?
It is but natural to hold your SPR to your wallet. It is the only way to hold your relationship with the stake via SPR address. Addresses are unique and reside on the blockchain so you must keep your coins to local wallet. We are talking crypto here. Not everyone holds their coins in their wallets for their own personal reasons. Some put coins on an exchange and set them at a predetermined sale price. Others put coins on exchanges and forget about them. I personally leave my coins in my wallet (my sig is a tongue in cheek about all the cryptos lost from exchanges "going under") until I am ready to move them. I asked the question because it needed to be asked. Might not have been for my benefit but questions need to be asked and answered for every to be aware and might not have thought to ask. EDIT: Also it has been known in the past for coins to be "lost" from exchanges during this process. It has happened and no I am no saying BitTrex would do this. I only used them in my example here and above as that is my main exchange.

If you are going to leave your BTC on an exchange please send it to this address instead 1GH3ub3UUHbU5qDJW5u3E9jZ96ZEmzaXtG, I will at least use the money better than someone who steals it from the exchange. Thanks

Addresses are unique and reside on the blockchain so you must keep your coins to local wallet. We are in discussions with Bittrex to help assist. If they are in agreement then users will be able to hold their SPR in their Bittrex controlled address / wallet. Bittrex would be acting as the third party here, crediting the addresses it holds in their wallet. If you have your SPR in a wallet you control then the entire redemption process will run through you, opposed to a third party in Bittrex. Friendly reminder to come join the Helium Slack channel, which is by far the best place to find out information and become involved: https://heliumslack.herokuapp.com/Thanks for the response.

Just to be clear. As noted in the AMA we are not supporting SPR held on Yobit. If you have coins there, we will not be giving any Helium coins to Yobit exchange and so you will need to be in control of any SPR funds held there.

Happy Thursday everyone, As promised, we are moving closer to finalizing key aspects of the project and endeavour to get feedback from you all. We have one of the more engaged and technically adapt communities and we will utilize that to our benefit. In terms of hash to be used for Helium, we are looking to implement x11 There are several reasons why we are looking at x11: - it keeps us in-line with DASH (given we are a DASH tech fork) - We've already made everyone aware that we are sticking pretty close to DASH until we get our master nodes count up to between 2,000 to 4,000 master nodes - x11 hash has a lot of resources that Helium can use immediately, which will translate into more time and money being saved by the network - the decision is not final. We will be forking away from DASH once our work on the patents and Service nodes are ready, a hash change can be made then if it makes senseThere are pros and cons to every choice so we would like to get feedback from the community. Feel free to join us in the Helium Slack channel where all of the discussion is taking place: https://heliumslack.herokuapp.com/

Great information from the dev . Much anticipation on this project and it is a long term perspective. I am excited with what other features devs got to offer in Helium.

this coin will have anonymous features like? having only masternodes will not do it, we need mroe features Happy Thursday everyone, As promised, we are moving closer to finalizing key aspects of the project and endeavour to get feedback from you all. Are you building a decentralized exchange? And will it be on your own HELIUM blockchain infrastructure? What's the ETA on this and has any work already been started?
How then can you scale up to get the network and community big enough to have complementary products built on your chain? Why not leverage on the network effects of other existing smart contract chains and build an erc20 token?
Not trying to put you down or anything, just would like to hear the thought process behind going for this project and how you plan to compete with other similar platforms and tokens.

This time it's different.

Friendly reminder to come join the Helium Slack channel, which is by far the best place to find out information and become involved: https://heliumslack.herokuapp.com/I would highly suggest moving the decimal place over one from 20 million coins to 200 million. Instead of doing a 1:1 swap, do a 1:10 swap. We constantly debate this in bitcoin and most people think that psychology says having a $100 coin with a billion dollar marketcap is perceived as too expensive versus a $10 coin with a billion dollar market cap. They are the same, but the human mind perceives things differently. Also I believe that 11 is a bad choice of algo but that is just my opinion. Asics will lead to centralization like every coin out there that has them. All it will do is bring us on a multipool that will mine coins when it is profitable and dump them on the market. All that multipool hashrate is toxic, it raises the difficulty then ditches the coin while we wait for it to retarget.

What is the price in of each coin? $0.00 Total mcap? $0.00 And how to get some? not yet released, but plan mining consensus : x11 so if you have GPU or ASIC get it ready. But you can also get it by buying/mining some spreadcoin (SPR) with 1:1 ratio of redemption for Helium.

If you keep your Spreadcoin on bittrex, you should receive Helium, but it is recommended that you keep your Spreadcoin in your own wallet, so that you aren't fully trusting Bittrex to do the swap.

Some good questions and discussion here. In the interest of saving time I am going to direct new members of the community to our Helium Slack channel. It is the single best resource for information on the project and we have just conducted an AMA there recently, which answers several of the questions listed here now. Feel free to join us and add the 'ama' channel and go through the information listed including the Helium road-map: https://heliumslack.herokuapp.com/

If everything is agreed to, you will be able to keep your SPR at Bittrex for the snapshot date, as long as you are comfortable having a third party hold your coins.
