Hey Guys,

I was thinking about getting 1000 XLR to start my first masternode, but after quite deep research things doesn't like too bright to me. Please, correct me or resolve my doubts if I am wrong.

Also, please note that is just my objective opinion.

I am working as a software developer so I've started from investigating the source code of Solaris. First of all, we can see that this code is a fork of AmsterdamCoin which is a fork of Pivx, then Pivix is a fork of Dash and Dash is a fork of Bitcoin. That basically means they are built on each other's fundamentals with the addition of new features. And here is the thing that after going through each active branch of Solaris project (https://github.com/CoinProjects/AmsterdamCoin-v4/compare/master...Solaris-Project:v2.4.0.0) I don't see too much value and features added by the development team (I'll make a note about development team later).

So, let's take a look on the commits one by one:

Commits on Sep 30, 2017

1. The project has been forked from AmsterdamCoin and each occurrence of Pivix/AmsterdamCoint has been replaced to Solaris.
2. Images and colours have been replaced to match Solaris theme
3. Changed number of coins in circulation

Commits on Oct 01, 2017
Not much, updated background image, updated some params

Commits on Oct 08, 2017
One line fix to replace some PIVX coins value

Commits on Dec 16, 2017
Here things looks like team did a huge progress: 363 changed files with 79,769 additions and 7,410 deletions. -> https://github.com/Solaris-Project/Solaris/commit/bb7c9e577f76f0e1fe4502d40577c583412981fe
Well, actually not really,  open the URL above and if you have time, just go one by one file with the PIVX repository -> https://github.com/PIVX-Project/PIVX
They are exactly the same, except replacements with Solaris name.

Also I am worried about files like this one: https://github.com/Solaris-Project/Solaris/blob/bb7c9e577f76f0e1fe4502d40577c583412981fe/src/accumulatormap.h (created on 16 Dec 2017) now take a look on the same file in PIVX repository: https://github.com/PIVX-Project/PIVX/blob/master/src/accumulators.h (created on 13 Nov 2017)

Both files are exactly the same, except first line: // Copyright (c) 2017 The Solaris developers. Looks like Solaris developers are claiming that they are authors of this code where in fact the PIVX team is. If you look carefully, there are more files like that. By the way, with this commit, ZeroCoin feature was added to Solaris, however, I haven't found a single difference between the code made by PIVX team.

Then the rest of the commits are just hotfixes, seems like developers forgot to update some data that works well with PIVX blockchain but not with changes made to coin supply and whatever else they have edited.

There was also a reddit post (https://www.reddit.com/r/solarisxlr/comments/7p9rxb/heres_a_snip_of_code_written_by_the_solaris_team/) where someone was delighted with the code clarity. Yes, the code is clear, but that's not Solaris Team code, that's code written by PIVX team (in case you want to take a look: https://github.com/PIVX-Project/PIVX/blob/master/src/pivx-cli.cpp vs https://github.com/Solaris-Project/Solaris/blob/master/src/solaris-cli.cpp the only difference? renamed file + PIVX team has added few new lines)

And you may ask how code added by Solaris team looks like, then there you go: https://github.com/Solaris-Project/Solaris/commit/ed3a2d016da831360f69204e51c014f6947e0449 (green one -> they don't even care about
indentation and spacing, believe me, if you're a developer, that means serious mess)

To sum up the code part, I don't mean that using open source code is bad, I mean that adding ZERO features (except XEVAN algorithm that was implemented in AmsterdamCoin and AmsterdamCoin took it from BitSend -> same code, no big deal) and not even maintaing the code properly doesn't look good. What you're actually buying is 99% PIVIX, 0.9% BitSend and 0.1% Solaris.

Now few words about the developers team. On the telegram group they state that there are two develeopers, however only one is active on github and its https://github.com/keesdewit82.

keesdewit82 have "created" the AmsterdamCoin which is fundamental of Solaris. If you take a look on AmsterdamCoin it seems like an abandoned project, think twice if you think the same can't happen to Solaris.

Another thing is their plans for the future, do you really think that two developers can make a exchange platform and maintain/keep adding new features to the project?  Take a look on PIVX team: https://pivx.org/pivx-team/
and how many commits they make: https://github.com/PIVX-Project/PIVX/commits/master and compare with https://github.com/Solaris-Project/Solaris/commits/master

About exchange, I think the name txbit is not a coincidence, if you google a bit, you can find a project called txbits (lol). Guess what... its an open source cryptocurrency exchange project. However this project is no longer in active development.

https://github.com/txbits/txbits
https://txbits.org/ -> so this is probably sneak peak of XLR exchange, enjoy!

Last thing:
Web and Android wallet. Not sure if anyone of you have noticed this when you try to contact support on web wallet:

https://scontent.fwaw3-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t35.0-12/27537390_1711744045552042_868281243_o.png?oh=46ab08fc94b4cf941630eae087d428d3&oe=5A745273

"Please contact support via email at contact@mystphy.sx." interesing, lets google that. That leads to this page https://mystphy.sx/ where we can buy web wallet for $600 and Android wallet for $700! Developers were too lazy to write their own? Who knows what  does the code written by external developer, I would be worried about my XLR at this point.

Not sure if Android wallet was released yet (I have seen it planned somewhere for Q1), but you can already find it here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mystphysx.wallet.Solariscoin_Qt

That are just my 2 cents, be careful and always do solid investigation before investing.

Thank you for analysing.

But Solaris Dev Team never make a Secret about from where the Code is coming.
Also right now anyone can read at the Solaris Website announcing about Code Mix from:

* Bitcoin Core
* PIVX
* Dash
* Bitsend

But its a big different in the Conceptition, like:

* Total supply
* Reward System
* Required Coins for Masternode
* etc.

By the way, most Coins in Krypto Jungle are similar then other Coins with litle Changes ... and some small Changes can make big Difference.

So for me is all right and Solaris Project should grow so much as it can.

Which current masternode and privacy coin the author thinks is not coming from those sources?

All masternode coin with privacy features are coming from dash/pivx and base from bitcoin. We already know about bitsend dev's contribution to this project. As far as I know Solaris never claimed to bring new algorithm or code, so it is not clear what he is trying to establish here. It was not also unknown to the community that MystPhysX has made the wallet for Solaris (link to post below) and who knows that he is not a part of the core team?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1831629.msg23124916#msg23124916

I think the author of this post who created an account only to post this, will be better off investing in Bitcoin, Dash, Pivx or any other unique masternode coins that he finds are writing their codes from the scratch and I request him to post link here once he finds any.

Solaris team is experienced enough to bring out good products in future. They are serious and not amateurs like most recent or new masternode coins. They are also very active and solve issues quickly. This is one of the good old projects that stands out from the rest. If you look at the supply, coin distribution and other features, Solaris can be regarded as better option than Dash, Pivx or Zerocoin, in which people can still afford to invest.

I am not sure what you wrote is right, because I am not a software developer. However, it sounds good, and also gives me some first insight about the crypto ecosystem. Anyway, thanks.

Hello all,

The logo submissions are official closed. There have been a lot of fantastic logos and the team will have a hard time picking the top choices for the vote. It was decided to lower the amount chosen for the final vote to 5 logos to ensure a clear winner will be picked.

Voting will begin today at 10PM UTC.

Thank you for your support !

After selecting winner for logo contest, will we have signature campaign again?
Nobody knows it for sure but we hope it will.

I like #1 logo the most.

I always thought Solaris has a standing out logo with a plain design, but very unbalanced with a lot of empty space. I have used to this logo and it has a strong connection with the coin in my mind.
For me, the original logo design is not only the gold symbol. To be honest, I first thought it is a solar flare what was depicted.

Concerning Lem's novel it's still makes a good sense - you can see the planet, the Ocean and a symmetriada in the light of a sun (and you still have the other sun color for affiliated projects - why not?)

The world famous brands show us that redesign should not be radical - and it's a common knowledge for designers, that good recognizable logos should not be changed drastically. It's better to make some "tweaks" that sometimes even can't be seen without side-by-side comparison (think about Starbucks, Google, Sony, BMW, Firefox, Barbie, IKEA, MS Windows and so on).
That's why I think the logo by vmalafeevsky is the best from the list. It's a very meaningful logo concept rendered to pleasant proportions with some lovely touches like handmade lettering and few usable variations of composition. It has a nice clean design that is readable in any size and needs as few as only one color to be printed and recognized. It's not only the logo - it's a perfect symbol.

I also liked a logo with S-letter in a diamond shape with rounded corners that wasn't included to the list (can't recall the autor). But, unfortunately, like other logos it lacks originality.

Unfortunately, I cannot vote due to my rank. If I can, one vote for the fourth logo. Simple, bright as the future of Solaris project.

Some great quality logos there.  Having trouble choosing between 1, 2 and 4.  I think these three are more professional looking than the other two.

Out of the first two, I like the font of Logo 1, but prefer the graphic of Logo 2.

I will go for logo 4.

This happens if you don't close your wallet properly and the database corrupts.

Go to your solaris data folder (%appdata%/solaris/)

Delete all files and folder there, expect for wallet.dat, masternodes.conf and solaris.conf (DO NOT DELETE THESE 3 FILES)

Open your wallet again and let it sync.

Since I upgraded my controller wallet and mns to the latest 2.4 release, I do not see any mn rewards coming in anymore. Do others see that?

I voted for the first one. I liked anyway. I thought I would ask a friend who is a great graphic designer but I don't think he would get this done better however I could ask him to try if devs decide to give it another go.

I have got 1 Masternode ... this i will not sell.
But i also try to trade every day ... as an example today i sold 23 xlr and get 58 at my following buy order.

With the rewards from another Masternode wich i have, i am selling to btc and then also set some buy orders at xlr.

With the price dropping so rapidly it is hard to sell and buy more again especially when the value against the BTC and ETH is lower and lower every hour. It is fine as long as you manage to buy more. I doubled my XLR often within a day or two just trading it but the price was stable 20-23$ a coin for a week or more. Right now... I have no idea. I removed my coins from Kucoin. I will forget about it for a while and I will mine something I can actually sell to make profit to buy more xlr unless I give up for good.

You are right. Is hard to trade at this time but i think XLR needs some new buyers because the Market is in a downtrend and at this time i try to sell higher & buy low again ... at the End of the day i have got more xlr or btc ... i take both.

Anytime will come the point where the Market is again moving to the other side ... latelly when people remember that XLR had a very low supply und most people from Solaris are hodl their XLR ... latest when POS Phase kicks in ... April.

And i also think the Price in April or May will be much higher than now.

I hope so too. I hope people won't dump bitcoin and ether as that would destroy crypto profitability for long. No matter which coin we choose to HODL now that would make it pointless.

Right now people are dumping everything in an attack on the crypto market.  Blindly selling and walking off a cliff like lemmings.

This is what I think is happening right now but I may be wrong. There are so many coins to mine or trade, many very successful at least for a while. Hard to choose and this may be why. You see a coin you think is great so you sell other alts in your portfolio just to trade, you sell it relatively cheap just to sell and buy what you think will be big. Stupid but true.
I am relatively new but I gave up any excitement or panic. I sit down, mine, observe. Stopped trading as I cannot stand selling at current prices. I just can't. SO I'm waiting...

People selling Solaris is most likely the miners as I have seen this many times in the past with masternode/pow hybrid coins. I think once Solaris switches over to full POS/masternodes then the price might start to rise and remain stable for a longer period. Solaris will start to get the POS people in who are looking for a good long term hold while they stake. I just saw this happen with VGS recently where the price was always getting smashed because the miners were dumping their coins. Once it switched to POS/masternodes the price stopped going down and has actually started to go up in a big way so I'm thinking the same will happen here. Not long to wait now, just 3 months before we see POS start.

I can promote your project on X to my 100k+ followers for a reasonable price. Just DM me for prices.
