Can anyone explain two things:

1. Why did Siacoin crash harder than the other alts, even though there is a strong backing from people in the business?
2. How is it an alt will always depend on BTC to stay up or down? Why can't alts, especially like Siacoin hold their own ups and downs?

I explain the reasons with my current knowledge gladly.

1. Siacoin is a pumped trash. So it's very normal losing its value while the real altcoins save their values.
2. Alts hold their own down and ups, but only the real alts. Not the ones like siacoin.

1) I think Sia was hyped more than other coins and got a little ahead of itself too fast. Too much hype means to high of a price, where a slower natural growth would be preferred. Since Sia may end up being a blockchain storage protocol layer much attention is warranted, but too much can be a bad thing.

2) Since BTC is the primary coin traders use to obtain Sia and most other alts the BTC price often has an impact. Some of it is not just BTC, but the whole crypto market rose very fast in the spring and some consolidation should not surprise anyone. It my belief we are in the early life cycle of crypto currencies, and all this will look like a tiny bump in the road when the whole crypto market is valued at 3 - 5 trillion dollars 3 to five years from now. I think when the fear over BTC scaling is over (sometime in the fall) the crypto market will have another pump up.

- Who knows, but all this means in 3 - 5 years Sia may be valued over $.50, and maybe even $1.

Building an exchange is not what we want the devs to focus on. The price will take care of itself as long as the devs deliver the product. But coins such as Komodo are working on an coin-exchange swap ecosystem which may end up being the preferred way to trade in the future, we will see.

- Crypto is not for the faint of heart. It is extremely volatile with price swings of 10% almost daily, and sometimes 30%+ swings. I was afraid back in 2015 when I first got into bitcoin, after a few months the volatility doesn't bother you as much.

Looks like it can touch 500 sat. I'm still holding a few no options really on my end. I was not trap, but just wanted to hold for a bit and not sell. I will sell if it goes 500 sat or more. And take my profit but I won't buy back. So much hype in this coin that it crash very hard. And I don't think it will go as I expected to be. I'm just try to be cautious, cause I really thought that this coin can have a good price by now.

Yeah, the pump was pretty nice yesturday!

I'm pretty sure that Sia will only grow, also remember the ASIC miners that are being released in January/May 2018.

The project they are working on says to go ahead and lots of units have already been purchased and they are going ahead with their project.

The same reason to fall to 300 stats aplies to the moon of 1000 stas... Speculation. Because for noe there are no real news to make the coin grow or drop. What i see is a huge supply of coins... don´t now if the demand will be that big to cause the coin to pump hard. For now i´m waiting, (with hope and not real analyisis) for 470 and 630 to sell.

The reason is because of segwit on Aug 1. Currently all cryptocurrency down again including bitcoin. Sia coin down around 9.9% and now it's on @328sat. It could falling deeper than now so i would suggest to wait before you want to buy it.

That is always a good idea for investments because without researching how can we dumbly invest into altcoins. Even if the price of the coin is decreasing we have to wait patiently to settle it price otherwise, you will end up with the loos.
