The hashrate is probably due to increased attention from miners and others .. I haven't even begun promoting the coin hardly at all, and it is already getting a lot of traction

Tor integrations ? still dont understand what makes this special these features have been around for years
Tor integration hasn't been around for years. We're very open to adding new privacy-related features - did you have some in mind? Usability is a main priority too .. so we are working on a MacOS wallet and Android wallet ASAP

Our goal is to be the #1 privacy-centered coin, displacing Monero (which is not very user friendly) and competing with Dash, which is - in my opinion - a rather sketchy coin.
We plan to be top 5 on CoinMarketCap by next year. Bitcoin will always be the gold standard, but we all know Bitcoin has a huge scaling issues (which TorCoin does NOT have). So Bitcoin provides more of a value store than anything else.
Ethereum is always going to be a major force because it does something different than Bitcoin - smart contracts.
Litecoin is a decent coin, but doesn't really offer anything too special, except being a little faster than Bitcoin to confirm, and having somewhat fewer scaling issues (although some chinese miners are screwing with Litecoin SegWit now ..)
Then there is Monero - a nice coin and very private, but it has usability issues and even Alphabay is fed up with it. Shapeshift can't integrate it .. I couldn't even get their Windows wallet to work! So it has a long way to go.
Dash is of course strong, but marred by pump-and-dump accusations.
So I think TorCoin should be right up there competing with Dash, Monero and Litecoin in the years to come. It certainly has a strong name, will always have a strong dev team, excellent branding, extreme privacy and a focus on usability ...
I am VERY confident in the longterm viability of this coin.

hey folks, as I have said before price is NOT an indicator of the success or even quality of a coin .. nonetheless it is still EXCITING to see TorCoin up 677% today! http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/torcoin-tor/$0.671039 (677.83%) I am much more interested in seeing an ecosystem develop around TorCoin than just watching the price go up and down .. I am offering a bounty of 2000 TOR for a MacOS wallet, 2000 TOR for an Android wallet .. and I would suggest that one way to accumulate a lot of TOR would be to develop services which accept TorCoin .. innovation is key, folks oh, no! so few supply!

I have just read this article about TORCOIN; http://darknetmarkets.com/torcoin-anonymous-cryptocurrency/ ...the news is spreading. On a side note I see the network Hash Rate has increased dramatically so there is increased interest with mining, which is reflected in the price.

Then there is Monero - a nice coin and very private, but it has usability issues and even Alphabay is fed up with it. Shapeshift can't integrate it This is simply UNTRUE! I used shapeshift for Monero swaps several times, it's as easy as any other currency option on shape (for the user anyways). Try it yourself: https://shapeshift.io/#/coins .. I couldn't even get their Windows wallet to work! So it has a long way to go.
THIS MAKES ME DOUBT YOUR COMPETENCE. I would consider myself quite the crypto-noob and I managed to get it running without hussle. Whereas your torwallet gives me a gaddamn virus alert every single time. Try to fix THAT.I also wonder why a privacy focused person would be using Windows in the first place. Very strange. That beeing said, there might be a place for TORcoin. But right now you guys are the ones with a LONG WAY TO GO. Oh and btw, have you guys heard of Byteball? It already has TOR integration completed... and offers a lot of great innovations. All while beeing distributed by free airdrops. Byteball has a very talented active dev. Any comment on that one and why TORcoin should be better (except for the appealing name)? Not a hater, just a skeptic here. Bought some TOR not too long ago and pretty happy with the 200%+ gain so far. Still, these are questions that have to be asked.

What are you thinking about adding in the future? I may be talking out of my ass, but you did ask for suggestions. What about Zero-knowledge proofs, PGP integration, tails or some sort of tumbler.
If you guys need a translator for dutch , I'd be willing to fulfill that.

TorCoin briefly passed $2 today :-)
that's very exciting, but remember that the PRICE of a coin is a NOT a determinant of the health of a coin.
Look at Bitcoin .. it is not too healthy right now with all the talk of a fork, the centralization of mining, etc .. yet the price is still high.
So let's try to look beyond simple price-point and focus on the longterm health and viability of TorCoin ...

What do you think about any of this stuff Carsen? I don't know zero-knowledge proofs - how would they increase the health and longterm viability of the coin? PGP integration - how do you mean? The coin already supports encrypted end-to-end messaging within the blockchain. A tumbler? Seems pointless, as the coin is already anonymous. I'm sure some third-party tumbler will pop up anyway. But we have stealth sending, which makes tumbling unnecessary. We tried to use ring signatures in the initial compile but ran into awful problems compiling it for windows .. these are the problems faced by Monero (which does use ring signatures) Ring signatures might increase anonymity and could be an idea for a future update, but I don't want to sacrifice usability, so we would have to figure out how to compile for Windows with those more advanced features, which was not an easy task ...
