Another developer log has been released. This video log shows how to set up and run multiple wallet instances, side by side. This tutorial will be useful for owners of multiple STaTiC nodes in the future.

I sometimes wish Xtrabytes was a.big money grab ICO so people.could see how big the tech is. People expect big things to only come out of ICOs these days.
uh, it basically was an ico. you bought a dead coin in return for a live one. the thing is they didn't really tell anyone that until after the fact. it's the ico phase now.

uh, it basically was an ico. you bought a dead coin in return for a live one. the thing is they didn't really tell anyone that until after the fact. it's the ico phase now. Look I have seen you post on XBY now for a couple of months. Personally I would say you are trying to FUD and have invested. BUT let's assume you didn't. Let me ask you as you know how this project started i.e. From a scam ICO which the developer and others invested in. So if you manage this coin how would you say it was distributed? I mean the developers didn't get ANY ICO money just what he and others bought on the exchanges either as bitmox or as XtraBytes along with all of us. Bear in mind they could of bought the hell out of it on Yobit but it sat for a week at under 40 sats which is when I grabbed some and more people were dumping rather than buying honestly. So should we say there was an ICO or that there wasn't an ICO? Because it looks to me like we are damned if we say there was an ICO and damned if we say there wasnt one. The truth is somewhere in between and is hard to get across in simple way without a big explaination. So what would you say when people ask if this was an ICO?

that process will come after getting statics operational - our number 1 priority. Hang tight.

Starting to research this coin. Can someone in laymans terms tell me what advantages this coin has over its competitors. I read the proof of signature page, and some of the other blurbs on the website, but I'm a little unclear as to what it means for this coin in the future. What's it trying to do?

Two main things. I'm giving you the very broad strokes so I'll be omitting a lot of the details: 1) Security. Bitcoin is vulnerable to a 51% attack, unlikely though that may be. XtraBYtes has special nodes (STaTiCs), ALL of which must sign off on a transaction for that transaction to be considered valid. If any one STaTiC or group of STaTiCs goes rogue, they are automatically blacklisted by the network. These nodes use layers of digital signatures and their intercommunication is encrypted as well. 2) Scalability. XtraBYtes' consensus algorithm is a digital signature only-not some kind of resource-intensive algorithm like Proof-of-Work, or something correlated to wealth such as Proof-of-Stake. This ensures speed and less energy consumption-and additionally XBY incorporates a chord network protocol to ensure the nodes can talk to one another quickly. That means that the network can process a high volume of transactions and support large numbers of users.

^ thank you!
The STaTiCs node seems like a very unique solution to the 51%
I'll keep digging on these.

It's really quite before the storm comes and hell to the yeah, storm will come. Looking forward to the STaTiC releases, that is also a guaranteed/proof of working technology. That should open crazy doors.

To add to what nemwanderer said, the plan is to make the platform core based and modular. That is, developers will be able to create systems/apps on top of the platform (so with all the security and scalability advantages). An ICO Platform, for example, could be built. It is being designed as a competitor to Eth, IIRC.
