PRICE OF STATIC NODES
This is just to clear up the common misconception about purchasing a STATIC node.
We keep seeing people talk about the
price of a STATIC and this can lead to people not realizing the true benefit and value of becoming a STATIC owner.
You are NOT buying the STATIC node from XTRABYTES (
you could buy one from someone else though). What you are doing is buying the XBY required for the deposit wallet you must have in order to REGISTER YOUR STATIC node. If you want to get technical, the price of a STATIC can only be the fees, because the actual DEPOSIT of 500,000 XBY never leaves your possession. You own those XBY at all time and they are simply locked away in cold storage for your protection until you want to remove them.
Why would someone remove their STATIC deposit?
Actually, most people will not because they can sell the STATIC intact and it has much more value this way. But, nobody can or will stop you from breaking your STATIC if you want, in order to sell the XBY on the open market. Just as nobody will stop you from gutting your house, selling all the appliances and amenities, thereby leaving only the structure to sell. The point being that your house has much more value if it is fully furnished, decorated and landscaped, just as a STATIC node being an income producing asset is much more valuable than liquid XBY.
So, just keep that in mind when people talk about the price of a STATIC. These are ALWAYS your coins...
