diff just spiked to 70k a few mins ago , I think we will see 100k eth diff by september .. fun times wow you realy in september we can see 100000 ETH... well just doing the math, seems we are adding 10000-12000 diff per month and with vega cumming soon, there should be some new cards to buy before those get snapped up as I speak now diff is steady at 71,000 up 11k this month alone , before we surmised that the shortage of cards would slow down difficulty, this theory has proven to be blatantly false since we see diff is always going up, in the absence of any data to the contrary it seems some people have access to mass amount of cards and they will need to keep adding hash to make up for the loss of income from the price drops and diff , slower block times etc. Diff will keep going higher this is truly fascinating to watch, Im power tapped but I have almost 100 gpus sitting idle due to heat issues , I wont turn them on till winter around October , meanwhile I'm selling them on ebay as well since they are of no use to me sitting idle. I would never have imagined the diff could grow 10k per moth but I think we are just seeing the start of this from all indications.

im curious what is going to happen when the BTC upgrades, im under the understanding that a new HARD FORK is being created for it....
no joke right there. If we can't get our way the legit way, we will force it on everyone..... the core team has lost their minds with this mentality. Destroying bitcoin. Going against it's core principles... one as basic as consensus.... It's sad... Truly sad. They lost a LOT of respect in my eyes. This hardfork is going to cause some serious waves...... I may shift to cash to ride this out. Hi Phillip, I have all BTC on Electrum and I'm not sure what to do Looks like someone went full retard and decided to split BTC I have no clue how to split BTC and there is one article from Electrum site as to what to do but they are talking about Linux and I would rather kill myself than touch that nonsense system. Should I just quickly download Bitcoin core and transfer all BTC there or sell all coins I'm holding since 2013 ? (It's sad to see end of the bitcoin after all those years) Thank you for help depends on how many coins you have. if you are looking to cash 10 coins or more you may be taxed More than that but I'm in EU so that would not apply to me .? I think this is good advice: http://www.nasdaq.com/article/a-beginners-guide-to-surviving-a-coin-split-cm764421TLDR; 1. Control your private keys. 2. To be on the safe side, avoid any transactions shortly after the split. 3. As the dust settles, split your coins. How, exactly, will depend on Bitcoin's post-fork landscape. Basically make sure you have control of your wallet(s), don't panic then wait a while to see what happens. The value may drop as the shitstorm settles down but imho it will return to current levels or higher. Remember where it was a couple of years ago! In a recent meeting with my group, to manage the risk of this BTC fork come 1st AUG.... will be moving a large BTC position to ETH and Litecoin. We also have concluded that there will be panic selling but BTC will rise up above 3K soon enough.... (past case ETH vs ETC), we will monitoring this situation and may buy BTC if it dips below 1700. I've been thinking about ways to hedge for the fork without going to cash as well. Has anyone used Vaultoro? It's an exchange where you can switch from BTC to gold. The downside is it's a centralized exchange so it wouldn't be wise to put to much on it.

@ Citronick, What CPU would you recommend for that board? i3, i5? ram? I'm thinking about getting one too. Thanks for any info. Chili
does look cool a 13 card board. I have to think use an i5 6400t but not sure. Wouldnt you need like an i7? i wouldnt think the i3 and i5 have enough pcie bandwidth... my understandings is each 1x pcie slot reserves 2 channels on pcie controller..... the motherboard may be compatible with the lower cpu's but do they have enough channels to fully use the motherboard fully?? ive read that i3 with 16 channels can only support up to 8 gpu's max ive read that i5 with 16 channels can only support up to 8 gpu's max ive read that i7 with 28 channels can only support up to 14 gpu's max Hi I have several rigs with msi z97 gaming 5, all with 7 amd gpu, so i decided to build a rig with 7 nvidia gpu with this type of mobo, it detected all 7 gpus in device manager but one gpu has error code 12 ( not enough resource), it is not to mention that it tried everything in bios also i replaced some gtx 1070 with gtx 970 because of one post i read in this forum about difference between amd and nvidia in pcie lane handling in among of gpus memory, no success at all, cpu was g3260 and i tried both win 7 and 10, i don't know what is difference between amd and nvidia here! add more ram are you 4gb? add a 4 gb stick as for hedging I sold 1.3 btc today I will keep it as cash.

Hi people, Hello, I'm having issues with Nicehash Miner 1.7.5.13 and also with 2.0.0.7. Same problem with every miner: after changing one or two algorythm, it freezes, crashes (restart) or even BSOD with Driver_IRQL_OR_LESS. If I'm mining with only one algo selected on every gpu and not trying to switch, it works just fine, stable for hours and even days. Alpha version crashes sometimes, with .13 version works like charm. Eh, when I enable more algos and try to switch (I should mention I've tried with profitability at 0.07 and 0.1, which means it switch at 10% difference) it crashes as said above.
I've read on other places, reddit, nicehash issues on github that other people are having these issues. I've tried with two different drivers, not being latest.
OS: Win10 creators update with latest updates GPU: 3x Asus GTX 1060 Dual and 3x Gigabyte GTX 1060 Windforce, all six with 6GB. A bit of overclock is done, +128 core and +196 memory. 100% power limit. Driver 378.49 PSU: 2x Seasonic 850W
What could be the issue in your opinion? Regards, John
With so much going on, I think this maybe got overlooked. Have often seen Phil advise not to try and put too many gpus on the one mobo - maybe that's at fault here. Could you advise: which motherboard, processor; ram quantity

I was looking at maybe mining spread coin. It is a pain to mine its a bit like ETH where you have to have the whole blockchain downloaded. And then you have to only solo mine to your wallet, so there is a bit of luck involved, you need one wallet per rig also. It didn't seem to be working when I tried but the blockchain wasn't downloaded yet so I will try again tonight.
Anyone mining this and have any thoughts or tips on how to actually get it going. The threads on it have a guy with an enhanced miner wanting upfront BTC to get his miner, just not sure about that incase its only a fad to mine it for a few weeks.? the price looks really good and I saw that it is up another 20% today!
I bought it - I would not recommend it. Unstable, buggy, it does mine faster, but the high variance on spread makes it meh. I'm seeing less profit vs skein.

With so much going on, I think this maybe got overlooked. Have often seen Phil advise not to try and put too many gpus on the one mobo - maybe that's at fault here. Could you advise: which motherboard, processor; ram quantity Switching is very tough on gear. And you are at 100% tdp which I think is terrible use of power. just drop tdp to 85% core to 100 and ram to 150 Here is a simple reason switching is hard. eth likes 100 core and 300 memory zec likes 200 core and 0 memory So if you switch back and forth set at 128 core and 196 memory when you are on eth the settings are okay but on zec the settings are less then ideal if you have five algos most likely only one or two match your settings well and the other 3 are less then ideal. So at 100% tdp you magnify the less then ideal settings. plus you could be switching a lot. So back off on tdp core memory clock Also make it switch at 15% not 10% so that less switching occurs. 85% not 100% ======= tdp 100 not 128 >>>>>>> core 150 not 196 ======= memory 15% not 10% >>>>>>> switch time

Going to sell some BTC today... Most of it to cash. But for some of the fractions I'll get some alt-crumbs. Already own a few Sia and DGB, but curious to hear what some knowledgable people here would recommend with the upcoming forks...

Maybe zer and uno Zer is on a New Zealand exchange Uno is on bittrex. I have 548 in ebucks to spend by August 2. Was going to get one more 1080 ti. I may get three bars of silver instead. I cashed 1.3 btc in. I am updating an empty core 11 wallet to a core 14. It should synch by Tuesday. It is on a Mac mini. Once it synchs I will clone it with super duper. Boot the clone and check that it works. Put 2 btc into that wallet. Since it seems that I could be on both sides of the fork with a core wallet. May be some free coin after the fork if I do this.

well just doing the math, seems we are adding 10000-12000 diff per month and with vega cumming soon, there should be some new cards to buy before those get snapped up
I don't see VEGA having a noticeable effect on ETH mining - same reason the Fury is not much used for ETH, the HBM memory latancy kills the hashrate. I DO see a high probability of VEGA being a good mining card for some OTHER stuff though, like ZEC. For the small windows - build an air box around them, probably need to use 2x6 or so, with the box being a little larger than the size of your fans - no need to get fancy. Then cover the end of the box with plywood, and cut a hole in it to fit the fan. Your airflow is still going to be limited by the size of the windows though - and 28 GPUs is probably still going to run pretty hot even if you use a high-end gable fan (there are 16" gable fans rated for 3000+ CFM, and they're designed to handle SOME backpressure in most usage. The Rotron fan Phil linked should be a good, reliable unit - I've had Rotron fans go 20+ YEARS in 24/7 usage without issues, and I've got ONE of them that's pushing 35 years old now, and just STARTING to see some bearing wearout problems. I just don't think 455 CFM is going to be nearly enough to handle the number of GPUs you're talking about.

I sent some requests for the ability for our hardware wallets (specifically ledger) to have access to both chains after the split. Should be interesting to see if they take this on; or I wont be using it anymore, possibly not even after the split.
Got an answer back from ledger. They say they will add the functionality in their chrome plugin to choose what chain its operating on. In essence, a dual-chain device now. Interesting. Waiting to see if they have a timeframe for the functionality to be available... *edit* I just got the response... "It should be happening in the coming weeks, the next or the week after basically depending how early Segwit2x activation goes" Excellent. This leave some easy options for guys like me who can't exactly download/maintain a blockchain because i'm on a cellular link at near all my sites....
