Even with the price drops over the last week, GPU mining is STILL a lot more profitable now than it was 3 months or more back.

Good to see that NewEgg WILL be carrying at least some of the "mining specific" cards - even if they're going to have stock runout fast issues like on the consumer cards.
Sapphire was also smart about it, unlike ASUS - they give you a CHOICE on the memory options.

You sure about ZEC?

It's also way down in profitability right now.

everything is way down in profitability
ever since eth flashed crashed to 10 cents for a short time wednesday everyone pulled out of everything it seems

the flash crash was the result of someone placing a multi-million-dollar sell order at market price, meaning ETH would change hands at whatever price bidders were currently offering until the entire order was filled – no matter how much lower the price was than the current price of ETH.

Ya a lot of people lost a ton of money, Youtuber BBT lost over 137k from it.. he mainly mines ETH and had stop loss limits set in case of drops in price.... and when the snowball effect occurred, it triggered his auto-sells cashing him out on 291k worth of ETH at 154k price point...

What had happened was an ETH ICO wanted to cashout some of his funds for some unknown reason... ($275,814,878.06 worth of ETH to be exact), which took all the sell orders set in the system, which kept lowering the price on the exchange due to automatic price shift based on volume algo, so as the sell order was fulfilled, it just kept dropping and dropping, triggerings millions of people's auto sell limits.. which totaled MORE than the volume of fiat cash available on the exchange, thus dropping it to 10 cents, but millions also made a fortune off this.. IBS mining group had auto buys setup on ETH at some super low limit and bought up MILLIONS at around $0.25 a share... which once the exchange stabilized.. brought him up to a multi-billion dollar account worth..

amazing.... crypto exchanges has a long way to go to be on par to stock exchanges - I bet there are safe-guards to monitor and track events like above at NYSE etc.

Anyways, if you a trader/speculator .... the charts doesn't looks good because its still a sea of red. If you are a miner, not so bad.... but you are earning less - keep calm and keep the miners powered on

I feel like getting into XRP and Golem since its on the cheap now....

yes the stock exchange has a trigger if a stock goes up a point or down a point to fast it will put the stock on a 5 min hold

what exchange has this? i've never heard of that and i trade futures and commodities for a living.

Most people can't handle choices - that's why you have so many people unwilling to take charge of their lives and be their own bosses - just rather have choices made for them and go to a 9-5. More power to them.

"circuit breakers".  NYSE has them for example.  Rule 80B (15 min stop after -7% decline, etc), although its been a while I think this is on the aggregate, meaning one stock can go -90% and nothing would be triggered.  In commodities you do have limit up and down rules for some products at the open.

BTW for all those people interested after serveral people asked storx how he was mining blake2s algro and he never responded.

I figured it out you needed to download a beta/test version of Nicehash.exe to get it going.  They have just released a new version too that also supports blake and it is doing 10$ a day which is better than zec and skein right now.

You should go back 1 or 2 pages and re-read one of the best posts recently.
It was posted by board member Storx.

I have read every single post in this thread.  Care to point out this best post? Storx posts alot of useful information.  Lots of people do so I can't really single anything out. Not sure of the relavance of your comment.

Wow so with the new release looks like the price just tanked now that everyone can mine it haha.  Or something funny is going on.

i put my strongest test rig to blake2s Nicehash

ccminer-80-x64 -a blake2s -o stratum+tcp://blake2s.hk.nicehash.com:3361 -u <BTCaddress> -p x --cpu-priority=3

3x1080ti=22GHs getting 0.007 BTC per day - that's way down vs ZEC

The price jumps around like crazy.  Sometimes its at like 12-14$ other times it is down at 5$.  I dunno why.  I put my 3x1080ti and was getting around 24GH/s  which was giving me (just on nicehash.exe not using a manual batch file)  29$ a day US.  After like 1 hour it dropped down to $15.  It's not reliable at all.  Whattomine is saying 10$ a day per card but I have only seen it do that a few times most of the time it hangs around at 5-6$ per card.  So going back to skein for now.  Zpool has been really reliable last week.

I was about to switch off of Nicehash actually.. was thinking of going to a skein algo..
DO you recommend Zpool?

I have been on Zpool for the last week with no issues.  It had some issues three weeks ago.  I am just mining skein on there.  I really like the 12 hourly payouts.  I JUST changed to Zec right now though.  DGB has dropped so much ZEC is better today then Skein but Skein was the best all last week.

Anyone mind providing me with the bat config to mine DGB on the Skein algo.
It's been awhile since I've configurated a bat file and tweaked it.

What miner do you guys recommend running with?
Going to give blockfactory a try, unless someone has a better recommendation.

MAN, today was a ruff day.. barely made $5/card on my 1080ti's
Someone was really expecting some algo to be magic money today;  Watched ~300Gh sit on skien for a few hours and vanish....  Did some strange things to the diff for that period of time... not enough time for it to recover and be more consistent.

Its now ~73Gh on poolside and back to normal seeming profitability.    I personally continued to mine when profitability on skien dipped under 0.002mBTC/Mh, so this profitability currently doesn't scare me.

I swear;  hashrates above a certain amount in a pool produce less profitable results.  Amount somewhat depends on the value of your dividend, and network hashrate.

I see it often.....

But look guys;  we were talking about this correction happening 2 months ago when it all started.....   It was an excellent and profitable ride for me; and continues to be.

I see GPU prices declining once people understand how things are going to be (and are) in the real world.  I'm still rather salty about how the GPU prices jumped just because of the recent profitability;  even though the manufacturer lowered its price.  I am finally starting to see $400 1070's hit CL again.  This is good in my eyes.

ya im really curious if sitting on a single algo is more profitable over the multi-algo thing.. i do reduce my jumping to 3 a day, but boy was the profit nice the last few weeks.. just wish i would have scaled up before the reduction in earnings.. i hope the prices dont continue to decline in profit.. im just now getting up to 18 x 1080ti's mining in my mini operation....

no, that's just perception.

the dow is just a collection of stocks measured as a sum; same as nasdaq....  a group for commodity and one for industry I believe.

Jaredkaragen.  I relise you might be a very busy person.  But you link is ultra confusing to most people.  It wasn't until I knew what I was doing that I figure it out. Everytime you refered to your link I clicked it and got confused.  Honestly it would be faster to just post a basic bat file to get the average person going.  Your batch file is for advanced users,  and honestly clickign on it when I was new really really really put me off the whole deal.  Now I appreciate it ALOT. But if you are asking for basic info your link is not great unless it has changed.

here is my super basic bat files

Wondering how hot they will

I know you typically sandwich a 1070 mini
http://imgur.com/a/lwiDW

Please note this is super tempory and I was semi curious.

I thought he puts the 1070 on the end but I can be blind.  So I have an Aorus which takes up 2.5 slots.  It is by far the best 1080ti I have out of 4 models.  I live in new zealand so everything is more expensive and dificult to do.

I order some 1080ti but I really didnt have the gear to install them, I am waiting on some risers.  So I had to pretty much defile my gaming PC which has 3 PCI-e full siz slots.

SO I have the three cards install as follows in a case.  Slot 1 (pci-e x 16)  all fan style so they blow up from the card.  SLot 2 reasonable gap same card evga 1080ti SC black.  Then immediately next to it I have the Aorus.  It is almost touching it is so close.  I also had to take the backplate off to get it in the case.  If your card has a HDMI port you may not be able to fit it with the backplate off even.  I had to bend my case to fit it.

So amazingly the middle card the teh coldest by 2x.  because I think the card in slot one is sucking on it's heat sync and cooling it down and heating teh card in slot one up.

So the card in slot 2 can run at any TDP 100% and too the moon on low fan speed.  The card in slot 1 runs at 100% fan speed and at 50%-60% tpd depending on what I am minging.

It is super not ideal.  The aorus has access to cool air a the bottom so is mostly fine.  I installed a few extra fans but they didnt do alot.  YOU NEED that gap.

But as a temp measure it is fine.   It is much better than not having one of the cards going.

So the middle one gets upto max 45C  at 100% TPD.  The one in slot 1 gets upto 63 at 50-60 tpd and the auros is near 58 at 70 TPD.  It is winter here though so yer in summer things would not be great but my house is very well insulated.

I am still having heat issue in my dual GPU rigs, even though both GPUs are spaced apart.

So I added 3000RPM Scythe fans and its working very well....

To further improve the cooling in all my other NVIDIA rigs, I have decided to redesign and consolidated to save space, because the NVIDIA mini farm is sharing with the 1070 and RX470 ETH farm.

This will also give me an opportunity to setup dual server PSU and do load balancing. This I hope will reduce heat even further because PSUs will be running well below the threshold. The dual server PSU method worked very well in my RX470 ETH rigs.

I have 2 types of 1080ti Reference (FE aka blower types), the plan is to achieve 2xAsus and 2xZotac = 4xGPU = 1 single rig.

I will be using the Gigabyte Z270P-D3 and 3 x risers (1 GPU will be on the mobo) for this project using nvOC Linux.

My other 1080ti 5 x Zotac AMP, 3 x AMP Extreme and 8 x Aorus will be consolidated into 3/4/5 GPU per rigs with the same method above.

If I provided you good and useful info or just a smile to your day, consider sending me merit points to further validate this Bitcointalk account ~ useful for future account recovery...
