there many types of risers, so many possibilities as per what config you have or want, and what PSU you are using.

Is this where you got the PCIE risers?

for normal ATX PSU, the molex to SATA is fine actually (top left or bottom right - both works)

the pcie type - bottom right, is the one I use if using server PSU

in this case you would skip the use the pcie-sata and directly use pcie-pcie cable

It's official....have my first miner up and running.

Didn't install all 3 GPUs, made sure I didn't blow up the first one first.

Have one 1080ti FE going to Nicehash w EWBF 0.3.4b

I will learn how to put in pictures later, not sure if I even can right now.

Pushing 700 sol @ 293W at the Kill-A-Meter.  276 sol/W efficiency ( seems low compared to others).

GPU @ 72C

Have settings set on Afterburner---70 TDP, 73C temp limit, +250 Core, -500 Memory, Fan 75%

Appreciate everyone's thoughts and ideas in general.

Time to buy 500 more 1080ti's.
---------------
The 2.76 sol/W.....seems a little low, anything I can do to change that?

Pretty sure those settings are for mining SKEIN.  For zec it is different.

You actually want to boost the memory.  This is my settings on my Auros Card which already has high rates already so you can't over clock it as hard.
TDP = 75
+75 core
+375 Memory
+75 fan (but this depends where you live and how cold it is.  I use +50 fan as its cold as heck here right now).

Those setting should work well for you on non Aorus card.  But you can likely get more out of the core and memory.  If you are already geting 250 and its not freezing then you can probably do that. You can likely inch your memory upto 450.   But 400 is prolly semi safe.  The issue is your memory.  Zec mining is effected by it SKEIN is not really.

Your info is wrong.  Skein and Zec both like high core low memory.

Eth like high ram

Oh yep my bad was thinking Eth.  What are your settings for Zec I have my skein and eth settings sorted for aorus and standard 1080ti and thought I had my Zec settings but I was getting more MH/s for zec when I went from 0 - 300 Ram.  Will I get more if I go into the negatives?

These are mining ZEC on Nicehash.

The settings use. I start with Phil's setting because they rock, then just play a little to get what works in in different rig set up.

@citronick ...Do you power the pico with the server psu also?

If so, which cable do you use?

Im getting dizzy Tongue. THose are closer to what I said but Phil said low mem does he mean low or negative.   I know I use negative for Skein but it doesn't really seem to do much no matter what I set it too on Skein. On Zec I do get more Sol by raising Mem clock rather than leaving it on zero.  I will have to try negative again.

2.7 efficiency is usually stock ..... you really should do something about the watts 293w is really bad... waste of energy

Phils has good guides to finetune 1080tis to get low power but good hash ratio, and achieve 3-ish efficiency
The settings are the ones I saw him post but ill double check them

I will look into the power consumption,  will need to get it handled before adding another few cards and setups.

Do you have --pec. At the end of the bat file in ewbf_ 3.4 or 3.3?  It will show you power at the card.

Your number is power at the wall or some how the tdp is not at 70%

Soooooooooooooo what had happened was.......ha, I am a dumba$$.  Didn't realize there's this cool button, the check mark, to actually ACCEPT the settings I have it configured to.  Total rookie mistake.

With that being said, EWBF is showing 673 SOL/s, 169W @ 3.8 Sol/W, Kill-a-Meter is showing 215W.  Card is registering at a cool 56C.  Amazing what happens when you do the settings correctly.

Thanks phil & citronik for the help.  This afternoon after work I will install the other 2 GPUs and see how it goes.

Sorry to bug with some more questions, did a search and couldn't find it----

I am holding steady @ 660-670 SOL/s.

Nicehash is showing a super wide range from 450s-770s and never consistent.  Is this typical?  Does it average out over the day?

Keep in mind the big 200mm fans - although the CFM is nice - dont push as much air where you want it vs a smaller fan.  if you are pulling air, then I guess it should be good but I prefer when you can actually feel the airflow.  On another note I just bought a vortex s-800 fan to extract hot air out of my garage, if you guys are interested ill let you know how it works out.  It was on sale and I need to keep the noise down.  i'll probably build a box around it anyway.

hey frank - can you send pix of you solution when completed -- I have a similar idea to build some sort of a housing for the 200mm fan to be effective. thanks

Btw, is there a "hang-out-of-window" type blower/fan/exhaust/extractor ?

My warehouse lease doesnt allow me to do any permanent fittings, I have to find a way to increase the airflow out from the warehouse.

I currently have this - see pix below - useful because I can position the other end of that duct to hotspots in the warehouse... however I need to find a overall blower solution to work in tandem with this current blower.

Sure I'll post pics.  give me maybe a week and a half or something.  I have seen "window" exhausts, you should check out restaurant equipment / specialized hardware.  Those do an amazing job but unfortunately for me - they are quite loud and I only have a small window so they dont fit.  The fan you have is really nice but its really loud no ?  I sleep above my garage so I need to keep it down a notch.  For blower type solutions with duct, you can check out vortex fans and similar ones, they are used in grow-ops (lol), some are quite cheap but with plastic inside, or more expensive all metal.  they are noisy, but you can build a box around it.  I think its the best solution.  I think the 8 inch model I ordered might be too powerful but I did get a solid state motor controller from home depot so ill be able to control the fan speed, and hopefully at a lower setting itll be less noisy.  I know there was another thread on this somewhere, I couldnt find it.

figures at the top/front  of your nicehash page are indeed never consistent.

look for Projected daily income at bottom right for most recent hourly average (hover over i )

 the bold numbers are good.

I do better with 4.1 sol/w  and 59% tdp  but  my hash is less

say 150 watts and 615 sols.  but this is intentional  as it is 95f today in NJ  so I lower the tdp to 59%  for heat mangement.

I have reached my heat envelope I can run  4x 1070's and 9x 1080ti's    with 95f outdoor temps  and manage the heat.

All my units are at 55-60%. This  means  in the cooler months I can bump every one to 70-75%  to boost hash and use that extra heat to warm the house.

also  your card is doing about 169 the entire pc is doing 215 at kwatt meter.    this is about right

here goes an explanation    for the 46 watt difference.  the cpu and the cpu fan  are most of it the ram stick or sticks are more of it.  the hdd or the ssd is even more.  finally if it is in a pc case  more fans.

Also  the  kwatt meter reflects your psu efficiency ie it shows watts at the ac wall plug.

and the Ewbf_   reading  may be the reading at the dc end of the psu.  So you are doing well.

really sorry guys, i;ve been EXTREMELY BUSY !!! & many parts are out of stock, i am restocking them. anyways, here are some teasers what i made during my spare time that i could squeeze ,,,

this is a "nicer" version but i dont that much of time to sleeve them, i've also made a small upgrade where the power cable is long so it can be easily plugged on to the breakout board.

@citronick, batch 2 PSU's have landed, i'll have to test them out & will ship your batch 2 goodies to ya.

@ phil, what are you mining now ? with the ti's ?

sorry to spam but i dont even have the time to update my own thread but for sharing purposes, managed to get hold of some ti's & more are on it's way.

some of them in action, try to find this guys called ermm i think nokia 555 or 515 something like that, he made a very nice monitoring program

alot of people have been sending me pm's, really sorry, i'm out of stock, restocking them, breakou board is out of stock too, eta unknown will check on it later. as for picos, i can order more of them, i'm doing it as i type now, same goes to custom pcie cables. here is some work that i do with the picos.

as usual gotta run will update.

@OP, zpool seems to have issues, it reads only HALF of my mining speed, are you still there ? atm, i just point direct to NH using latest ewbf.

Phillip or maybe someone else,

Could one of yall explain to me the difference between the miner intensity that it starts the miner at vs the difficult level that slowly ramps up... Im trying to get some coins i cant seem to mine stable with my 1080ti's to work... it seems some it all comes down to the core clock being to high and then others they will start off stable, mine for a few minutes and if the difficulty level climbs to high during mining it will lock up at that point only..

@citronick ...Do you power the pico with the server psu also?

If so, which cable do you use?

Yes.

For cable - solder 2 pins onto pico and terminate 6pins to breakout board.
yslyung does this "hard labor" work for me. I will take a picture later.
My EVGA replacement project and recent GPU farm server PSU kit supplied by yslyung.

Alternatively, the original 12v connector (meant for car power connection) if you buy the picos "as is" at Aliexpress - you can use one of those 2pin connectors that the Baikal Quads use to power their cubes via 6pin PCIE ATX PSU cables. Much more elegant solution but still need to spend money to buy those parts. See pix at http://www.parallelminer.com/product/160watt-24pin-atx-power-module-included-sata-molex-cpu-power-connectors-bypass-your-atx-power-supply-entirely/ -- getting custom kit from yslyung will be much cheaper surely.

In summary, with this pico/serverpsu/bb solution -- you basically can throw away the EVGA PSU.... LOL  Grin

Since we are on a Crypto hardware crunch now..... I wonder if I get a good price for EVGA-1300-G2 used 24x7x365 more than a year old ?

Thanks mate, I should be able to make my own cable. Will give it a go when my new pci-e risers get here and I can set up my server PSU correctly.

See yslyung post below -- close up of the pico with custom cable powered from the server psu and 4pin CPU cable - that's basically all you need. the rig will be much more neater and simplified I think... and now easier to manage airflow and cooling solutions.

@yslyung   nicehash zec using ewbf_ 3.3

@storx  intensity is a cpu setting  so a high intensity and a shit cpu = fucked.  so a 30,29,28,27 for skein needsa sold cpu   if you got a pentium or a celeron set intensity at 24

rant time  cpu's are easy to get a solid discounts on eBay from good sellers.
i don't use pentium or celeron I use i3's and i5's

the i5 6400t can be found used for as little as  114 on usa eBay

hhtp://www.ebay.com/itm/SR2BS-Intel-Intel-Core-i5-6400T-Processor-for-Envy-All-in-one-27-P014-Touch-/132220163246?

it works in b150 z170 or b250 z270 boards

I earn 50 cents a day while I mine zec with gpus  I mine xmr with the i5 6400t

It is far better then a pos celeron or a pentium

yeah 114 + 15 for a cpu  cooler  and in 200 days it earns 100 bucks.

back to storx

lower your intensity to 24 and drop the core  by 25
