With Elneny injury they now have two defensive midfielders- Partey and Xhaka but if they also get injured then someone needs to play out of position as they don't have more defensive midfielders. Possible that Arteta might put someone in that position but his actual role will be much more advance or in defence depending on what kind of the player he is. Even though he is quite old, we should not underestimate Ronaldo's performance and play, so far Ronaldo is a player who continues to live a healthy lifestyle and of course he has quite good fitness, Ronaldo is like Ibrahimovich, even though he is old but still able to show the good performance in the game, after losing Lukaku chelsea should be able to make ronaldo a better option  for striker and maybe will be able to help them have a good  this season.

I agree that we should not underestimate him even at this age, but even if we consider him a great player today, does that mean that we could end up justifying a 30+ million euro transfer fee and 20 million or more on salary for him? I think there is just a tin possibility of getting a deal done before the end of the window, we have seen this kind of scenerio where the club will act like they want to sign a player and end up making no signings in the end, it happened in the January window which cost us top four finish. If they succeed in getting a signing or two before the window closes I would be very pleased.
