I saw in this forum someone who bought gold with bitcoin. Month later, bitcoin goes from 2000$ to more than 4000$ and gold remains the same price.
I don't think this story shows that bitcoin is better than gold, gold remains the most valuable thing for ever and bitcoin is the best cryptocurrency, but this last can't even touch the gold's brand for people because it is something that we learn at school and we master thanks to the habits and the traditions. |

Bitcoin obviously has a lot of different properties than gold, and is in many ways better than gold.
Or, at the very least, you could say it's similar to gold (in terms of value).
Perhaps someday, in the not so distant future, people will be happy to get a few mBTC to store their family's wealth.
Is it true ? I think people are still more confident in gold. although its use is still less efficient than bitcoin. gold is one very good asset to store wealth, even the government also better suggest gold. I don't see the need for the comparisons here, they both have their pros and cons and Bitcoin is slightly having an edge because it's an online currency and can do more than gold but gold is tangible and can be safely kept than bitcoins which need internet before you can access them I think it is fair that we compare them, gold has been the point of reference for a lot of time and now bitcoin wants to be the new point of reference when it comes to currencies so unless we can compare them then we will not know if bitcoin is better than gold, and it is clear that since I’m on this forum I think bitcoin is better than gold. I think it would be fair to compare bitcoin and gold on the investment side instead of currency or other, in terms of bitcoin and gold investments beat each other, many people argue that bitcoin is better because it is more profitable in the short term, on the other hand people also argue gold is better because it's safer, everyone's investment appetite is different so the best of course is different in everyone's view |

So Bitcoin is better than Gold?  Not really but it depends upon the situation. Since nowadays, gold is hard to find and hard to deal with, i can say that bitcoin is better than gold. But if you have a mining site that aims and collect gold, well it is better because it is not hard to earn gold as long as you have a source of it. In terms of its value, i think gold is higher than bitcoin but the price of a gold depends on its weight and class. |

But if you have a mining site that aims and collect gold, well it is better because it is not hard to earn gold as long as you have a source of it. In terms of its value, i think gold is higher than bitcoin but the price of a gold depends on its weight and class. Even though you have a mining site that collects gold it is still not easy for your to get a lot of gold because it is hard to mine golds and it will take time before you can get a lot of gold and for sure it will cost a lot of money for you to be done so it is a smarter decision to just buy bitcoin directly to a wallet or exchange and keep it for long years and you can earn more profit in bitcoin than to what you can earn in gold. |

in terms of price, is very true because it is proven in recent months alone bitcoin prices continue to rise sharply.

Gold have been around the market for a very long time, in terms of stability gold can give you more assurance than bitcoin. However, an ordinary minimum wage earner can't have gold that easy. It would take real hard work for a long time for you to have gold while in bitcoin anyone regardless of age, status and education can have it. You just have to learn how it goes and need patience, for sure all your hard work will paid off.

Well maybe I can say that bitcoin is better than gold because nowadays gold is hard to find. Since many countries are not allowed to mine there is scarcity for gold unlike for bitcoin they are many funds for bitcoin.

LOL. But at least you can wear gold; it's one of the 'features' of an actual, physical substance. You really can't do anything with a Crypto except spend it, or possess it. You can use gold for art, technology, medicine. In addition to all that utility, it's a really old, really trusted store of value. Bitcoin is just numbers, information in a database. Yeah, it has grown a lot, in price, but why? What has changed that suddenly makes bitcoin so valuable, that we have reached these price levels? This is the same bitcoin we have had, with a fee tweaks, since the beginning. |

Gold is not that popular compare to bitcoin, but gold is the currency that we know that is precious because it is a treasure, unlike bitcoin, which is a cryptocurrency but its price is way more expensive than gold, so, I could say that bitcoin is more better than gold, having its advantages is a great thing to use. |

Very interesting graphics. I still think pitting gold vs. bitcoin is the wrong way to approach the two. The advantage gold has is intrinsic value as a tangible form of money. However, bitcoin has some advantages, as noted in the graphics. |

Please check the Bitcoin exchange rates from 2014 to 2016. The rates went down from $1,200+ per coin to around $200 per coin. So you can't say that the Bitcoin exchange rates will increase for ever. And also, you need to remember that gold never had a massive fall in its history, like the 85% decline which Bitcoin had from 2014 to 2016. |

So Bitcoin is better than Gold? There are some aspects that bitcoin is better than gold and then some when gold is better than bitcoin. It depends on the basis of comparison. When you talk about price then bitcoin is better than gold because bitcoin has thrice the price of gold but when it comes to popularity, gold is better than bitcoin since gold is known by everyone while bitcoin is still new so its not yet that popular. When it comes to traders, I think they would choose bitcoin over gold because a lot of trading opportunities in bitcoin because it is more volatile than gold. |

Bitcoin and gold are different in nature values. However, bitcoin is in some ways better than gold due to the fact that its yield is higher.
It is only one reason that you have mentioned here. I am afraid if someone wants to transact a large amount to the other part of the world in case of emergency and he has all the amount in the form of gold, would he be able to do this? My answer is no. But if he had bitcoins, he won't face such situations. |

Gold is good at securing long-term legal assets, but bitcoin provides more benefits in various ways and certainly requires a high risk understanding, bitcoin is more complex because of its double role as currency as well as investment asset, therefore gold is considered very far behind, we just need see both as a long-term investment asset.

When it was a few hundred, and started to slip, people said "hey I've already changed $100 into $20,000, better no get greedy!" and bailed. Now we have lots of people who have bought because they believe it will go up and up and up. They may be wrong, but their belief matters. I think yes, bitcoin is far better than gold, because gold cannot be used for buying anything in the world, first you will have to change it in your local currency, then in the required one and then you will be able to use it. On the other hand gold reduces its price with the passage of time, while bitcoin increases its price as the time passes. Gold is not a business and bitcoin with a currency also a business too. |

Bitcoin is much better in several approaches. The only dilemma, that it is not so steady, but in prolonged terms it displays monster expansion, which gold will never ever see yet again.
The price of Bitcoin has increased tremendously in the past. But that doesn't mean that gold prices are going to stay low for ever. The mine production of gold is declining, and most of the remaining reserves are located in the most remote regions, where profitability is low. And at the same time, the demand for gold is increasing, especially from countries such as China, India and Russia. Nobody is saying that gold won't increase its prices ever but we are of the point that it is very slow in making value gains and we are living in a fast era. Getting the picture!
