Last time I used normal fees was quite long ago. In the last few months, I always use fees hefty enough for next block confirmation, mainly because when I spend Bitcoins, I spend them to buy something and next block confirmation are always welcome in these cases.

Isn't 50-70 sat per byte extremely low fees? They are going to take ages to confirm. I usually pay up high fees when doing any kind of transactions, don't feel like waiting. I once had an transaction with 296.011 sat per byte. It took almost 4 days to confirm. How long does it take to confirm with 50 sat/b fee?

I sent an exchange some bitcoins with an extremely low amount of fees (60 sat/byte) and left it like that for days.
I thought it eventually is going to return back to me. But surprisingly just a few minutes ago it started getting confirmations.
This is actually just 3 days from sending it.

I haven't used viabtc or anything similar.

I used medium fees but lately it's now decent high, 100,000-150,000 satoshis is too much for a fees. That is $2 on USD value. To minimize the cost, I always transfer in bulk. But Im considering using low fees now but not to wait for 2 or 3 weeks. Id rather pay for 1 to 2 days than weeks eventhough Im not using my bitcoin.

You never know what will happen so it's good be ready. We can earned the lost money but for the needs, we must be ready anytime.

Isn't 50-70 sat per byte extremely low fees? They are going to take ages to confirm. I usually pay up high fees when doing any kind of transactions, don't feel like waiting. I once had an transaction with 296.011 sat per byte. It took almost 4 days to confirm. How long does it take to confirm with 50 sat/b fee?

My 65 sat/byte (also, it had 2.2 kB size) took 2 weeks to confirm and it arrived today.

That's exactly my thoughts, today's 2 mBTC might be "only" $5 (which is already too much for transactions under $500), but if Bitcoin will cost $20 000 in 10-15 years, at that point the amount of fees paid by average Bitcoin user can easily be worth a few thousands USD or more.

Since there is a huge problem with low fees transactions I take care about the fee I'm paying for my transactions and I'm using wallet where I can control the fees and where the proper fees are already suggested. This is more secure and less chances that I will end up with unconfirmed transaction.

I think Electrum wallet will let you adjust the fees so that the transaction can be pick up faster. I haven't try it at all because I just got my first payment from a signature campaign. But if ever I want to transfer my funds then I guess I have to used the 400 sat/byte recommendation fees to make my transaction quick if I'm in a hurry.

Some exchanges, particularly XAPO, started fee for outgoing transactions recently but their charges are quite high compared to other places. So if you can avoid these high charge exchanges. Same here.  I've bought a few things in the past couple of months that I'd rather not have waited weeks to receive.  So no, I don't skimp on the fees usually.  And honestly I try not to spend bitcoin if I can use cash.  I'd rather give up the fiat, because I know it's not going to rise in value like bitcoin might.  Makes sense, right?  And who wants to pay $5-10 or more to spend money?  I sure as hell don't.

Hilarious stuff.  Jihan Wu doesn't lead ViaBTC.  For all we know he could be mining there, but I've seen no evidence of this.  I hope you feel good abusing a free service for your own greed.

Solution:  wait for ~3 weeks until you have BTC0.1 or so, then transfer to a new address.  Alternatively, just deal with the inputs - with current necessary fees it's not going to add more than ~0.0004 to your fees.  If you claim that you can't pay this with the income you receive, you're lying.
IMO the best thing to do is to use the lowest fee on the recommended fees page which is estimated to be confirmed within 6 hours or so.  This way you avoid pushing up the fees for other people by perpetuating the fee market unless you have a high-priority transaction.

No. I use https://bitcoinfees.21.co to look at the recommended minimum fee, and add an additional 10% to make my transaction look a bit more interesting financially. I have sent out 2 transactions today, and in both cases I added around $4 in fees, which makes it a total of $8 only to send coins from point A to B. Is it a considerable amount? Sure it is, but I don't like waiting -- time is money.

You can send the coins back to the same address, no need to use another. If you won't use the funds, just send them back to your address with a small fee, and when you need faster confirmation, the fee won't be as expensive because of just 1 input

I even used to think like that if i am not in a hurry,but then some my transactions with low fees got rejected and so i stopped doing transactions with very low fees and even i am starting to go over the bridge and start putting higher fees even though i am not in a hurry just to get those coins transferred.

You seem to have a very low fee for your transaction. So you surely need to wait for a longer time for it before the miners will confirm it but if you are lucky they can include your transaction, it all depends to them. Well I'm using the recommended fees by blockchain.info so mostly it is ranging first at 0.0002 - 0.0007 BTC now.

You're the most patient person and you did a great job man, when i discovered my old transaction i found out that the fee that we spent it was too high due to recently price so i guess it is a good idea to lowering our fee if we're not in a hurry in order to save those coins for future purpose. Personally I'm not lowering my fee i just convert my bitcoin to altcoins such a doge or litecoin to avoid the fee, if i should send bitcoin directly i increase the fee sometimes we need something fast even though it's expensive.

Hell, I wish I was able to use low fees like that and actually be confident in the ability for the blockchain to process my transaction, but I always have it at least a bit higher than that so that I can sleep knowing that my transaction would have gone through at some point within the next few hours. I don't care about being included in the very next block, but I would prefer it if I had some timely results.

My bitcoin wallet is XAPO, so I don't have control to set up my own fees. When i sent a transactions xapo make me to choice: Using High priority fee or standard fee.
By the way, It's too high, The current standard fee is : 0.00184505 btc and high priority is 0.00325587  btc.

I think it depends on how the people will be using those bitcoins. If you are Campaign Manager and making a payment for your campaign, it is better if you follow the fee that will make your payment send faster, maybe .001 to .003. If that is just for yourself, just to transafer some coins, How you want to pay it, depends on you, but don't rant if you will be receiving it months to weeks.

I'm pretty sure you mean 3k satoshi/kb, as 3k satoshis for every byte is hardly considered a low fee. Your CPFP attempt probably won't work that well as 30k satoshis/kb is still quite low and you'd need another CPFP payment if you expect it to go through. Currently, the recommened fee according to bitcoinfees.21.co is around 90k satoshis/kb, which is triple your new transaction (which you expect to pay for 2 transactions).

Depending on the situation because there are transactions which do really need it to confirm fast specially on my important transactions which i do need to set medium-high fees but there are times i do really set low fees and same as yours i dont mind if it would confirm long because those bitcoins are solely for saving for future as long im sure it wont be cancelled then it should be fine. Fees now are really horrible when you do really like to fasten it up.

Like you, I used to pay nothing or "free" when sending btc, i dont send low amount of btc which really need to pay transaction fee when doing low amount transactions. And sometimes i used to convert it first at fiat then send it to other people as payment. I prefer to wait than pay large amount of btc as transaction fee, i feel that im wasting my money on that, but sometimes if im in a rush, i only think about it as tax on my income.

I really depends on how badly I need that Bitcoin. If it can wait then I'll for the lower fees but if I need it really then I'll go for the higher fees. The thing is if you use high fees you should take advantage of it not by sending small amounts but large ones. Think of how much money you need to send overall so you will not be repeating sending again if you can just send it in one go. That's bullshit and you're really wrong. The type of wallet doesn't AFFECT the speed of a transaction. It's all the fee which always be the factor of how fast a transaction could be confirmed. Rest assured, when you're using low fee and far below the current recommendation, it doesn't matter whether your wallet is premium or platinum, your transaction will have a big possibilities to be rejected by the network.

Most of the time to those community who use low fees the confirmation is always delayed before
it transfer to the wallet, Where we want to put in. So In my part I'm not using low fees because my experience was it takes 3 days before it confirms.

you need to do some analyzing on the mempool sometimes. i have had some 100 satoshi/byte fee transactions in the past few days which have been confirmed in less than 5 minutes!
as i have said multiple times, the big number you see in the mempool (60K, 90K) are mostly spam attack not real transactions which means most of them have pretty low fees.

Of course the transaction fees will get higher because the demand of bitcoin is getting higher every year, that is why obviously the miners will make the transaction fees high so that they will also get some profits. Most of us says it is not fair, how come? we are all getting benefited by bitcoin here in this crypto world, and if you don't want to be bother by this transaction fee, then simply just don't pay it and don't expect to receive your bitcoin, or wait for a longer time to receive your bitcoins.

The only problem here is those people who are earning bitcoin through faucets and acting like almighty about this thing, then just simply change your way on how to earn bitcoin, problem solved.

Here in the Philippines, we have no big problem in transferring Bitcoin except if we use maybe Blockchain or Coinbase wallets. We have our coins.ph and similar sites and they are doing good job but coins.ph now is starting to charge us service fee and we are given three choices and I just usually choose the slow one which is actually not really so slow...we are not complaining on speed but we are somewhat shocked of the fee because in the past this is shouldered by coins.ph itself but not anymore.

Two days back, my transactions also got confirmed very quickly, although I paid a fee far lower than what was suggested by bitcoinfees.21.co. If I remember it correctly, I paid around 100 Sat/byte. The online calculator was suggesting somewhere around 260 Sat/byte.

That said, it is now getting very difficult to do small-value transactions. I paid BTC0.0002 fee for transferring BTC0.001 from one of my wallets. That corresponds to close to 20% fee.

Yes, you should be careful in selecting the transcation fee as a too low fee will make your confirmation waiting for months and its no use.

Yes, I always have used low fees so far. But that is because of Multibit wallet, who sets the fees automatically and as I have set the fee slider towards the lower side of it. But now I think I would get Electrum and use manual fee per transaction, so I can set low fees for transactions when the time won't matter much, and relatively higher fees for when its an urgent transfer.

Your reason for using low fee is valid and even me would do same thing if I am in your position since it will still amount to the same thing in my wallet when it arrives whether the price of bitcoin increases or decreases but for someone who is ready to pay for sale, I am not sure that argument will stand for whatever reason before confirmations means money exchanging hands which cannot wait for weeks especially in case of emergency.

I used to use low fee based on the confirmation I expect. At times when I need to make a selling used to provide the higher transaction fee, as the price volatility is high and at any time the price variation might drop. Hope it's good to go with the transaction fee suggested by the wallet service to have a timely confirmation.

Always using the default fee even if it seems low. I'm in no rush usually, and when the network was spammed by miners transactions were slow and regardless of the amount of fees you paid transactions were still getting stuck for a few days. That was one time when I was OK with paying larger fees but it didn't help in any way so I see no point.

I have been checking the fees here : https://btc.com/stats/unconfirmed-tx and then I send accordingly my fees. Usually its around 200 and 300 but its lower and higher too. And guys if you ever miss the proper fees you can use btc.com push tx service to get a very fast confirmation ( they show as usually 7-8 mins )

I began to use Hashnest wallet few weeks ago and I pay 0,00002 BTC for the transaction and it is kinda fixed fee there, but the transaction provided during an hour. I am satisfied with that speed and I ready to pay this fee for the fast speed of the transaction. You see, if you pay a super low fee, but wait a week the price for bitcoin may drop so deep that it will not be profitable for you at all.

It is so disgusting to use low fee at the moment because of too much volume of transactions every seconds.

Normal fees means default fees right. That would set as by default and nowadays default fees has been increased to 0.0007 to 0.00092 btc for a transaction in blockchain.info and coinbase. If you wish to have a low fees for a transaction. you can use the the multibit or bitcoincore to have a fees as 0.0001 or little. Confirmation time would little longer than the above mentioned one.

you need to do some analyzing on the mempool sometimes. i have had some 100 satoshi/byte fee transactions in the past few days which have been confirmed in less than 5 minutes!
as i have said multiple times, the big number you see in the mempool (60K, 90K) are mostly spam attack not real transactions which means most of them have pretty low fees.

I always need the money I earned through bitcoin so I always have to use low fees.  But like what you said I realized that those small amount of bitcoins sooner if you would add all of it, it will sum to a valued amount.  So since then, I make sure to make it big and then make a huge withdrawal so the fee is all worth it.

There is a pretty damn stupid reason why the unconfirmed number was decreasing..
Believe it or not is because of the increase in mining power.

We were getting a block every 8 minutes and the capacity of the chain was increased by nearly 20%.
But the dif adjustment just kicked in and the number will go up again.

You can use low fee if you not want send BTC fast to someone or your Balance, but when you make an auto deal or sell it to get real money, I think you need use hight fee  for your transaction, because you can get time out if it is an automatic exchange service

That is entirely your personal choice. This is the reason why the concept of "Dynamic Fees" is developed.
However, I don't feel waiting for weeks is good option especially for me where I need to remunerate number of people daily who keep up my work running. Nor it will contribute to our vision of 'Bitcoin as money'. No money takes a week to transfer between two people.
So low fees and wait can't be any solution. We need some amendment is block size.

I am also mindful of what fees I end up paying for the transactions I make and it depends on how quick I may want them confirmed, Sometimes I go with the fastest, some other times I settle for the lowest fees, but never encountered delay beyond couple of hours.

Yes, I always have used low fees so far. But that is because of Multibit wallet, who sets the fees automatically and as I have set the fee slider towards the lower side of it. It's not safe to use low fees anymore. I used to be able to send transactions with 0 fees assuming that my btc amount is big and get it confirmed within the week but now it's not even a matter of time anymore - if you out low fees in your transaction it might not confirm at all as the backlog of unconfirmed transactions builds up.

It's might be a good idea to do it if you're trying to restrain yourself from doing a certain activity but saving a few thousand satoshi per transaction doesn't make sense to me.

If you have a look at the technical support discussion board you will see that board over populated with "transaction stuck" or "transaction pending" and all these threads have something in common, low fees. Wow 5 minutes it is a very fast time for the confirmation time in the moment? Even I myself use a fee 30k satoshi. Sometimes it takes hours to get one confirmation lol

I just sent a 189-bytes transaction and paid a little less than 78 sats per byte. It confirmed about an hour after I made the transaction. That only cost me about half a dollar, instead of paying a little less than $2 had I chose to make the confirmation faster. With the current rate of bitcoin, 1.8$ supposedly to be 0.00073 while the average fee needed for a transaction to be confirmed within the next 3 blocks is 0.00088140 (from https://bitcoinfees.21.co/). No wonder why it's still taking an hour for just a confirmation. Even my transaction which I made a day ago uses 500 sat/byte as a fee and still unconfirmed within 2 hours.
If you want to make a transaction, always be sure to check the current recommendation on that given site above, otherwise your transaction will either stuck or have too much fee(not wrong btw).
The scalability issue seems will not be solved very soon, the only way is to use the recommendation fee as your advice.

It's really up to you if you really need it or it can wait. I hope you do know that this exchangers don't give you the private keys to your wallet right? So it means you don't have control of you btc. Another issue is that if those exchangers are hacked, what will happen to your bitcoin then? It will be gone. Yes I`m using a wallet with low fee, it was like that until recently, xapo now have fee and for me this fee is too high. Couple days ago I wanted to send 7 mBTC and low fee for slow transaction was 1.5 mBTC, high and fast one was above 2.3 mBTC, that is funny and to high for me.

Yes, it is not worth it for micro transactions but I do less transactions with high amount so I don't hesitate to pay the fees which are required by the network. I sometimes use quite low fees if it is not an urgent transaction. Otherwise I normally use high transaction fees, even normal fees don't get confirmed that quickly and most of my transactions are urgent otherwise I wouldn't be wasting the money sending it over to someone.

Your solver has been around for a long time, because I rarely store Bitcoins in my wallet and often pull it in several times and wait for a while to trade successfully. In addition, this way will help you less likely to be caught by the bank

Yes, but I am not sure why this is happening because when I see my transaction is confirmed faster I immediately check the current number of unconfirmed transactions and in most of the cases I notice that the number is above 10K transactions. I am sure exchanges put the same fees but yet I never faced any long time (24 Hours+) unconfirmed transaction issue so far. The only important things is the size and the fee they are paying.

You can have 200 000 tx with 1/2 inputs and you can have 50k with 40 inputs.. that would actually mean a 5 times longer queue.

Nice idea if you are comfortable in that way. For me at the usual case, it's better to make a big transfer at once. Ok let's say you are setting a low priority of 50-70 sats per byte but always doing that for a week, then it's no different from the usual transfers. Im just thankful that even the fees are high, good thing bitcoin price is high.

I got stuck in the same situation too. For the time being I converted my bitcoins into altcoins and then I withdraw accordingly. Another idea is to deposit your bitcoins on exchanges and then withdraw from there as they send mass transaction and hence at a much lower fees they bind up a lot of transactions which we ourselves cannot do.

Maybe someone can explain. Why is the bytes so high ? The over 1000 when they were otherwise 225. What's going on please help me to understand this.

That happens when you frequently receiving small amounts of satoshi, and one you want to send btc to other address then the size takes so high thats why the recommended fee is high to, sometimes the was much hifher than the funds you want to send

Yeah, I definitely use the low priority option with a fee of 0.0002996 when sending bitcoin to my main wallet which is not going to be spent soon. On the other hand if I am depositing my bitcoin onto a gambling website or send it to an individual, I always end up choosing the high priority option with an approximate fee of 0.0009877, so that I dont have to worry about the confirmation time.

yes i made a transaction and made a fee of 70 satoshi per byte few days ago and it confirmed after 5 hours. i usually pay 250 satoshi per byte fee because before, the recommended fee is 220-250 satoshi per byte but now its 480 i'd rather wait for hours than to pay a huge fee.

That's right, the output and inputs inside of a transaction really affect the fee because it's increasing the size of a transaction. If you're really curious. Try to claim from various faucets into one address which is yours. Then, try to move out your funds that you get from the faucet before into another address, there'll be so many outputs in just one transaction that could overwhelmingly increase the size of the transaction.

I try to avoid transacting if possible. Sometimes using bitcoins is just not feasible.
If there is no time constraint in confirmation, I use low fees hoping that it will confirm, even if takes a day.
Only otherwise do I use the recommended fees.

If you use Electrum or Wallet have recomend and default fee, you should use it, from 200 sat/byte and max 500 sat/byte if use Electrum

I'm not using low fees anymore because blockchain confirmed is really long to get confirmed. That's why i use the minimum fee at least 0.0005-0.001 to get fast confirmation. If you use lower fee such 0.0003 your transaction will not get confirmation fast.

Yes, that's useless if you use low fees but your transaction never get confirmed. You shouldn't think that's better to leave small fees to get quick confirmation. That's why you shouldn't receive dust transaction because you will need to pay big fees for that.

I just checked making a transaction in coinbase and they charge 0.0013 which is really a lot and i assume that is around 500+ satoshis per byte.

The number of unconfirmed transactions is irrelevant..
The only important things is the size and the fee they are paying.

You can have 200 000 tx with 1/2 inputs and you can have 50k with 40 inputs.. that would actually mean a 5 times longer queue.

Well at least it has paid ~4 USD in fees even though it is a large transaction size, but about coinbase usually the transaction size is very small as it is only 1 or 2 inputs so the size doesn't go more than 300-400 bytes.

Yes, that's useless if you use low fees but your transaction never get confirmed. You shouldn't think that's better to leave small fees to get quick confirmation. That's why you shouldn't receive dust transaction because you will need to pay big fees for that.

I don't have an idea if it's confirmed for almost 8 hours I've been waiting and finally it has confirmed. Well you will lose a lot and you will only pay for the transaction fee if you have smaller value of bitcoin to send. At this range of paying 128-153/sat is already good for me, since I can wait for hours before it can be confirmed.

These days I think it would be crazy to use a fee lower than the standard, if not higher.  Almost all TX's that I have incoming or outgoing I watch on blockcypher.  It is an interesting approach the site has by giving the normal info and adding in the miner preference and a few more nice little points of data that are very cool.  The more and more that people learn about Bitcoin, the more that I distrust a low fee too.  

Yes exactly, I think one should use the standard fee to confirm a transaction as soon as possible. I have seen many people choosing the low fee and then wait for days and weeks to confirm their transactions. I personally like my transaction to confirm immediately or with in a less time so I prefer to choose high fee transaction. Oh. I use Bitcoin with low fees and I don’t have any issues with it. I think that the people that use high transaction fees don’t really know how to use Bitcoin because the people sending the coin should not have to spend over a dollar for an amount that is less than a dollar. I always go with the 'high' fee to make sure the transactions gets confirmed on the chain fast. I don't like having to potentially wait for weeks like some do when using really low fees. Transaction accelerator service began during the past price jump which caused a big number of around 90000 transactions getting stuck to the network. As mentioned I too prefer the fee structured by the wallet, so that no need to worry about confirmation and other issues. It gets confirmed at the right time.

It's cool to send a snail fee when I'm moving money between wallets, but if I have to pay a time sensitive address nowadays, I'm too scared not to max out the fees; the risk of having it confirm too late, and the PITA that is trying to explain to support what happened to your bitcoin payment same with moving money between exchanges, now a days I'm pretty much gonna convert it to Doge or LTC, just to ensure timely receipt (let me tell you about another PITA, watching the price sink while waiting for confirmations at an exchange )

You have to use high fees or your transaction won't get confirmations or there is another chanse, you need to have access on f2pool's or other pool's transaction accelerator or have to be a big miner or so luckier to add transaction in viabtc which is very difficult now because it's already limited instantly.

It is the second to the highest of the transaction fee if I'm not wrong, because the transaction fee is depends on the wallet that you are using. I'm using Electrum wallet and the transaction fee that I'm paying is 0.002 if I'm not wrong, and if you are paying high amount of transaction fee, then expect that you are going to have fast transaction, that is why I'd prefer to pay high than the other way around just to have convenient transaction.

In my opinion 50k satoshi fees are already high. If you refer to a transaction last few months ago that might only around minutes to be confirmed. I think that this is becoming a crisis already. Merchants will get bankrupt if this continues and became more worse

Blockchain recommended a fee of 0.0038, I just sent it with 47 sat/B and got it confirmed with ViaBTC within couple of hours. If it is not an emergency transaction, using a fee of 0.0002 BTC is enough to get it confirmed eventually.

Now the current situation has forced some wallets and exchanges to setup a fixed minimum or standard fee, up to 0.003, equivalent of $8, users who want to withdraw small amounts would not agree with these fees . Kraken has just increased their fee to 0.0025 and now I have altogether stopped using Xapo. Glad there are still exchanges in India with a fixed fee of 0.0005 and fast confirmations.

As long as your bitcoin received than it doesn't matter. I don't use small fees, just a sufficient amount to get my transaction confirmed but normal fees still have to wait for several days due too many unconfirmed transaction on waiting list. Well, I don't mind to pay 120-200 satoshi per byte, but some people suggest to increase fees until 220 satoshi.

Last time I used normal fees was quite long ago. In the last few months, I always use fees hefty enough for next block confirmation, mainly because when I spend Bitcoins, I spend them to buy something and next block confirmation are always welcome in these cases.

Never gone anywhere below 250 per byte since the year started. Last year I think the lowest I went was maybe 180/byte.

When I need a quick confirmation, I aim for bitcoinfees21's cheapest and fastest, at whichever has the lowest unconfirmed tx's.
When a tx is not urgent, then it's usually at the 250-300/byte range (the lowest of the yellow bars.never the orange ones. ^^)
When I make a mistake calculating my tx size and it ends up on the 10-20 blocks range, then I use the accelerator. It usually works.

Why pay the high fees even if I could wait days? Because I don't like my transactions(money/btc) stuck. They could be in wallets, storage, or even in cash, but never stuck in between.

It depends, there are things that need a fast confirmation because if you don’t get confirmed then you need to contact support and then tell them that it took longer than expected, since I prefer to avoid all that, most of the time I send a good enough fee, but when it does not matter if it takes a short amount of time or a long one then I send with a small fee.

I actually go for medium fees because I'm willing to wait but I'm not willing to wait for a really long time. When you choose low fees, be ready to wait for days before your transaction gets confirmed. When you choose high fees, you'd receive your money in between a couple of minutes to a couple of hours. Setting low fees doesn't mean you are going to get a confirmation within weeks. You may not get a confirmation at all. That's the danger of setting a low fee. You cannot be sure whether or not you will even ever be able to spend that transaction or not.

If after a few weeks no pool confirms your transaction(extremely likely since they don't want to waste block space on such a low amount of fees), then you have to use a transaction accelerator. That would mean that you will be paying way more than if you just paid your fair share of fees in the first place.

At least do like 150sats/byte. That's the lowest you can go imo to get a transaction confirmed within a day at the moment.

There’s nothing wrong with that, I use a small fee while sending a Bitcoin transaction and the whole thing gets multiple confirmations within 5 hours or really close to it. If I wanted to get my transactions approved faster than I would send my transactions with a high fee.

Poloniex usually uses a very high fee because they want the receiver to get the money in a very fast manner.

You cannot use low fees for any transactions you do nowadays as your transaction will have a really big risk of never getting confirmed in the network. You should always use the recommended fee or just a bit lower so your transaction will confirm.

I used medium fees but lately it's now decent high, 100,000-150,000 satoshis is too much for a fees. That is $2 on USD value. To minimize the cost, I always transfer in bulk. But Im considering using low fees now but not to wait for 2 or 3 weeks. Id rather pay for 1 to 2 days than weeks eventhough Im not using my bitcoin.

You never know what will happen so it's good be ready. We can earned the lost money but for the needs, we must be ready anytime.

I also preffer on choosing the medium fee because if I will look a the time lapse of every transaction I can see that most of transaction have the same mode or time of delivery. If you have no problem waiting then I think it makes no sense to spend huge sums on small transactions, but there are pressing demands that needs you to send small transactions and you might be looking for quicker confirmations(i.e. renewing your cost); in such situations paying high fees becomes inevitable.

Most exchanges are now charging 0.0015 which is enough. I use that amount now. The exchange went from 10k to 20k to 50k and now 150k that is a big leap and with Bitcoin being worth more it's now well over 30x more costly then before. 100x more is not unreachable. Before it was 10k now it's 150k that's already 15x then factor in Bitcoin price and you get 30x 90x easily. Pay more then 0.0015 ntc and you looking at 100x more costly then before.

Just hold your bitcoin, try not to send it anywhere until they fix the high fees thing. If you are sending from exchanges it's easy enough to buy ltc or doge and send that instead. With bitcoin fees so high it's made it not very useful. I still don't understand how faucets can send so many micro transactions that are less than the minimum btc fee. I have used the minimum fees with no problems, longest I've had to wait is 2 days, but usually goes through withing a few hours. I think you can soon set your wallet to use a bip148 server, this will strengthen the movement over, and make sure your transactions don't get stuck on the old chain.

I am still spending the same fees and I rush on to viabtc and submit my transaction, has been working well for me. Though at times the submissions are beyond limit but anyways I  manage to submit my transaction anyhow.

Converting your Bitcoins to alts just to save yourself some satoshis isn't really what I consider to be worthwhile. It's not only time consuming, but you'll be subject to the volatility connected to altcoins as well. You just need to include fees based on the priority according to you -- if it doesn't need to confirm directly, you can choose to go with a lower fee, and mostly your transactions get confirmed well within 10 blocks. If you need quick confirmations, then just go with the recommended fee. Don't waste your time on altcoins....

The lowest I can, and I don't know what we can expect in future with this fees, if fees continue to rise more then I will stop gambling and sending bitcoins, probably I will start to gamble with some other currency cause I don't wish to pay 5 dollars for one little transaction, that is not normal, and I agree with people who think that this what miner ate doing is just crazy.

I was always use normal fees with my trabsactions and always gets confirmed in 25-30 minutes i dont have problems with it. Probably your transactions doesn't go through because of the blockchain transaction traffic is maybe full in the time that you send it. If a bitcoin scaling solution like segwit and lightning network you can kiss the delays goodbye and the price of bitcoin will soar up dramatically cause bitcoin will be once again able to use micropayments such as buying coffee or pizza and more investors will be interested in investing to it as all the problems has been fixed in crypto currency.

Hopeless, because it was april when i had sent a transaction with low fees and it took about 2 days for the confirmation so from that time because I learnt the lesson and I won't repeat it again and now i sent only bulk amount only and all amall small transaction will get red signal from my side. It all depends on the priorities. I usually go with the fees suggested by the exchange or web wallet service providers as I don't do frequent transactions. I am not sure what is the reason but I have observed that even paying the average fees, the transactions are getting confirmed faster than before. I guess that exchanges are clubbing multiple transactions and it results in faster confirmation.

If his BTC is all inside the exchangers. I think everything is fine. Though you have pretty silly question  , If he needs his BTC quickly, he simply sends it directly without swapping them because it's basically just an option for him to avoid the overwhelming fee in bitcoin blockchain. Within the time intervals needed for a coin to be swapped and be sent to the targetted wallet, there might be a fluctuation happen, but mostly just a small margin, if he's fine with it, it's ok, though.

As for Electrum, it proposes those high fees for child pays for parent transaction, in order to get it confirmed both transactions very quickly.

Here I have things to understand and explain . First of all currently the fee rate got down . About 2 days ago I made a transaction with the low priority from the mysselium wallet and get confirmed in 6 minutes with 1 confirmation like a miracle​/magic  so here I am 100% sure if I can send Bitcoin with the fee 0.0001then it will get confirm soon and it will be about 50-60sat per byte .
Here not only you are using the low fee but a big exchange in my country using the same thing for the fee , they are using 50sat/byte for ownself transaction and get confirmed after month , that is really cool.for them because they don't much need for the speed because they have lot of money but are also savings much money with fee system .
And currently the fee is also down , so we can use to include our transaction in the block easily  but true is that we need to wait for the weeks .

Most of the times I will choose the highest fee to pay and get confirmation as soon as possible because I don't like waiting for long. But now Bitcoins are no more attractive to send small amount so I stopped using bitcoins for smaller amount transactions. For small amounts, I prefer to use either ETH or DOGE coins. XAPO nowadays charges very high fee compared to blockchain fees.

It is really not a problem if you would not use it right away like OP said but the definition of low fee now can be considered high in the old days. I personally use low fees to transfer bitcoin when I am not in the hurry. Setting it to the highest fee is not always the solution though for a slow transaction. People that pay for a huge transaction to get confirmed is the ones that should be paying because they are doing business with large sums of money. No lower fees your transaction. Your transaction will get deprioritized by the blockchain. But it depends on the traffic on the bitcoin network. The more unconfirmed transaction will make the chain will be slowly to validate the transaction. If the people are in the competition to pay more and more to get their transaction to be confirmed in short time and the big competition of the fees will make your transaction fees get deprioritized and it can back to your wallet because the mempool is forgetting your transaction.

In choosing the fee you going to use in transaction, you should consider things like your need and how you are going to used in transaction. Because the differences of each transaction fee is base on  the time or how long it will take to proceed the transaction and if you are going to used or the transaction is quite urgent it is better to used high fee with the high transaction value because it may less the amount of fee. But if you do not need the transaction is much better to use low fees in transaction and wait for conformation.

Here the condition is also same for me ( in the most of the cases ) . I usually made  trading at yobit.net exchange more than at other exchange  , because my most of the friends are using yobit.net exchange , so here we made yobit.net code to buy sell our Bitcoin .
And the payment of the signature campaign usually send with very low priority and get confirmed after the one week ( sometimes 2 week in the last month ) .

Well the real problem is ratio between fee amount and transaction size in bytes since blocks are limited in size, 1MB. It's expressed in sat/B (satoshi per byte) end you can check which value you should target on https://bitcoinfees.21.co/ because it changes over time depending on current number of unconfirmed transactions.

Are you using RBF (Replace By Fee)? If so, other Electrum users should know that this isn't the default option with Electrum wallet. I would love to RBF a transaction I made with below normal fees... But I can't, because I didn't tick the checkmark for RBF before that transaction. Now I'm stuck just waiting it out. I guess there may be a faster method, but it would have helped if I had known about RBF before I tried to get stingy with fees.

It's too risky for me. Using a very small fee can make a very long delivery transaction. You can reduce the cost, but you will be difficult if you have to wait a long time. Imagine if you are in need of bitcoin but the transaction is still running, of course it will make you confused when need bitcoin on the spur of the moment.

I did experience to wait for almost 20 hours before my transaction gets confirmed because the fee is only 0.0002 BTC. I have seen people paying .001-0.002BTC just for their confirmation gets faster. People that pay for a huge transaction to get confirmed is the ones that should be paying because they are doing business with large sums of money. I wouldn’t want to make money and wait a bunch of hours when spending $7 for some transaction fee. I am pretty sure that people will have another type of method of spending Bitcoin pretty soon. He already said he paid "10 satoshi per kbyte". Via btc requires x1k times that.

You are right, normal fees are not normal, they are ridiculously high, and even my "cheap" fees like 40-60 sat/byte are very expensive, because if you are paying 0.0005 BTC for 0.01 BTC transaction, that's a 5% fees - something that rarely happens even with fiat transactions. I have a feeling that miners are just preying on people's fear of uncertainty, people are afraid that their transaction will get stuck forever and lost, so they want it to get confirmed asap, which makes them to push fees higher and higher. I won't be surprised if we find out that miners are behind spam attacks and that they are doing everything they can to keep fees as high as possible.

Correct, we are the one adjusting and paying the price of using bitcoin now. But whatever angle you look at it, this will have a negative impact to the bitcoin ecosystem. Well, for people that want fast confirmation always use a standard fee for their transaction, up to 0.0005-0.001. With that fee you can get cofirmation 30minutes-1hour depend on the fee. For me, i always use 0.0003-0.0005 fee and i use txid accelerator for make it faster.

contact support? if you have private keys then you can import them to another wallet that does let you control your fees. if you don't have them then you're at their mercy.

It's most probably because the input and output in your transaction are rather many that cause the transaction to have an overwhelmingly high size, though, that's still not an excuse of how the fee is ridiculously high that it far surpasses any other similar services out there that offer more benefits.
Talking about the confirmation and the efficient way, better to use someone else's service to include your transaction into a block by paying some amount of BTC which is smaller than what quoted by block.io

i am not using low fees because i understand that with low fees, a transaction will need longer to be confirmed and we need to be patience to see the balance is show in our account. at least we need to use up to 0.0005 btc for the fees and if we want to see fast confirmed, we can use 0.001 btc for the fees. for myself, i always use more than 0.0005 btc for the fees and sometimes i used 0.001 to send a big transactions, and the confirmations is not take more than 1 hours.

If the fees are hurting your deposits and withdraws then you should really rethink your business model.
Right now if you have an online shop you're far better with somebody else managing the payments and transfers like bitpay.

I don't usually do this because when I sell my bitcoins, I always compute the transaction fees within it even if the price is ridiculously high. The only time I sell bitcoins is the time when I really need the money and time most so selling it with a high amount of dollar per byte is fine with me.

Indeed using low fee will get slow confirmation but it's not will take too long. I also using low fee to save bit of my money i'm ok with that the most important the transaction will be confirmed.

to send bitcoin from wallet to market or wherever I use a very relative payment cost, when bitcoin price is very expensive and when the transaction is very solid then I will give an expensive shipping cost in order to quickly get to. but when the market conditions calm not too crowded I can use a small fee.

Fees are much lower than what we got used to and I think if current fees are maintained I honestly don't see or find a reason for other merchants new to the use of crypto will not use these digital currencies and I can say am enjoying the fees now, if they can go lower that would be fantastic and i think almost 90% of bitcoin community is now enjoying the lower fee because most of the bitcoin exchanges integrated the SegWit to reduce the bitcoin transaction fee and also the latest bitcoin core 0.16.0 comes out as SegWit fully supported for bitcoin users to enjoy lower transaction fees worldwide.

Sometimes when I withdraw BTC to my wallet, I set really low fees like 50-70 satoshi per byte and wait for weeks, because I'm not going to spend those coins in the near future anyway. I think it's a good way to save a bit of money, because if you look back, you might realize that your fees have added up to a big amount in USD value, while it wasn't always necessary to get those coins confirmed asap.

Yes i uses low fees though it is a great advantage though , so i use the low fees all the time and sometimes i tend to meet a person then negotiate , by person to person i can buy at the lowest fee.

I always use 30 satoshi per byte and i'm letting Jihan BU to pay the rest on my behalf.Viabtc's free service does the job very well.  Paying>200satoshi/byte started to hurt me very badly. I have to move my coins from one address to another from time to time because those small incomes which i collect from here and there create many inputs in time and i don't want to look at a 100$ fee in some day.I even used to think like that if i am not in a hurry,but then some my transactions with low fees got rejected and so i stopped doing transactions with very low fees and even i am starting to go over the bridge and start putting higher fees even though i am not in a hurry just to get those coins transferred.

With the higher bitcoin price, the dollar we pay for the transaction fee will increase as well, even though the actual amount of bitcoin we pay for the transaction fee is fixed from the first. To be honest, this is a problem when the amount of dollars we spend on transaction fees suddenly rises as the price of bitcoin increases.

I dont want to bargain on fees, I think by using higher fees it gives me peace of mind that my money will be recieved just in time. To be honest putting too low fees in my transaction makes me stressed because I have that idea behind my mind that it will not be confirmed.

Using low fees is a good option now because your transactions do not take forever to complete. This is because the volume of transactions now is very low which means transactions are confirmed faster than when the transaction volumes were high so even though you use low transaction fees your transactions would still go through quickly so take advantage of it now that you can.

Why would it be a bother to the miners? In fact they will be overjoyed to what you are doing there that is there job. Do you know where the fees are going? The fees we are paying are for the miners that is accepting the transaction. The more the transaction is, the more they earn.

Low fees are not a great idea until LN was used. I think the transaction is faster now than those last years.

Everything now is really calm including the transaction fee,  you can literally use bitcoin to buy a cup of coffee which wasn't possible some weeks ago,  I guess this downtrend is also helping transaction fee in becoming stable, I was surprised the other day when I sent  out $500 worth of BTC to someone and I was charged just about $0.01 as transaction fee. I was scared at first.

Im not using low fees, wallets that use low fees I think are low on security and I only send and transact BCT in larger amounts. Sometimes Im converting BTC to fiat and then send it as a fiat to avoid such fees.

Probably it's very stupid to use low fees. I am not greedy enogh to pay $20 insteed of losing my wallet or money on it. Security on low fees wallet isn't the best.

everybody wants a low fee for each transaction, even for rich people who have lots of bitcoin pun it is necessary. Unfortunately there is no free fee from coinbase, I used to use coinbase for transactions but now no, even now the fee is quite big compared to other bitcoin wallet, so I menyimpanya in poloniex, in addition to its trading fee is quite small

Not anymore because then all my transactions would probably get stuck. Now I use wallets with dynamic fees policy. But there are also no low fees anymore, even those labeled as normal or low are very high.
