I am not sure about the exchange rates, but it seems to me that Ethereum might be having a larger market cap than Bitcoin, by 2022 or 2023. Ethereum has managed to remain in the game despite several setbacks (such as the creation of Ethereum Classic and the robbery from DAO wallet). As the saying goes, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

At the rate it's going, I'm not surprised to see Eth hit 1000 end of the year. It grew by 400% in one month (since early May). Doubling or tripling again in the next 6 months is completely possible IMO.

In 5 years? Who knows, hope it goes to $5000 though.

The problem with technology stocks (i.e. ones who's value derives from their 'advanced technology') is that they're always at a disadvantage from being first. Monetary stocks however (i.e. ones who's value derives from pure store of value) are at an advantage of being first. They do not rely on advanced tech, in fact almost the opposite. They rely on being stable.

Now comes the next tsunami of smart contract blockchains: Tezos, EOS, Rootstock, Ark and the rest.

Bitcoin resisted the onslaught of competition. A flotilla of altcoins came along in their hundreds and not one of them made even a dent in its marketcap despite being more advanced technologically. That's because it is a monetary asset.

Ethereum is a technology asset. It only has value because of its use as a technological platform. It is unlikely to exhibit the same resistance to competition since there is no advantage to hosting an equity offering on Ethereum over one of the newer chains if they happen to deliver the functionality that you need. (Hashpower possibly but that just moves with value).

In the picture below, Bitcoin, LTC, Dash, XMR, PPC etc are in the top category. Ether and its sibling smart contract tokens are in the bottom category. So in 5 years time there will have been a lot of jumping from bottom to top.

I think it depends on bitcoin destiny. If bitcoin hard fork will success then ethereum will lost his price a lot. Because now ethereum price grows up so fast because of fear before bitcoin hard fork of some investors. My price is between 1,500-3,000$. When bitcoin price should be not less then 10,000$. I am very optimistic

Haha. Well, yes that's true. Haha. After a little thought, I would have to agree. I have noticed that BTC always double each year (on average) from each yearly low. And every time the reward halves, the angle of the growth increases equal to the half value.

But honestly, ETH is not a block chain, its smart contracts. Smart contracts are the next generation. BTC is the first generation. BTC is meant for larger money assets, not little dinky dinky chump change. I think ETH could very well be worth more than BTC. ETH is going to be used for thousands of things, like trading electricity between counties or state to state. This is contract trading.

My guess is more than BTC at some point, but I don't know if it will stay higher in price.

The reality is that we have few coins which have better performance then what the Bitcoin have .
Here I am looking at the price of the ETH from 2 years and seeing that the price of ETH changed into 13 times more .
But still ibhade never invested .
But according to the current conditions it seems that the price of the Bitcoin will rises to about 1 byc in the last of the next year .
So here you expecting price of the Bitcoin is about 1btc= 1 ETH , and now you can think what may be the price after 2020 year .
With this thinking I invested about 0.07+ btc in the ETH at the rate 0.092btc= 1 eth and now I am in the profit .
Now here a good thing for us is that we have a coin like Bitcoin that will became brother of the Bitcoin soon in future .
