Why not? bitcoin will be always on the top since the bitcoin will be successful bitcoin will be on the top no matter what happens also ethereum is just an alternative coin ever since ethereum will never be on the for sure ethereum is the secondary or following bitcoin steps and never be defeat bitcoin for the pricing.

You should narrate animé, you make as much sense.

Etheream has nearly caught btc in market cap. It could pass it this week. Whether or not it will stay there remains to be seen. But you can bet the days where btc is needed to buy and sell other coins are nearly over. You can already buy Dash and etheream directly.
Hey, why would it be worth for btc holders to jump into ethereum? To me it looks like a big bubble about to explode, it can't keep going up, or at least I can't see the reason
I read that fees are lower and it's a young project, anything else to convince me? Cheesy

Given that I'm not an ethereum supporter, you should save that bullshit for someone else. That doesn't stop me from taking note when BTC loses the number one spot for the first time in history.

For years people have said that BTC was first and will always be king.
Others say BTC is like Gold, it is a limited supply and thus will only appreciate as popularity rises.

You may witness ETH overtake BTC in market cap very soon, it's nearly at 80% of btc which is pretty nearly there in my book.

These 2 coins are worth 80 billion, or about 80% of the overall crypto market. A year ago BTC held 80% of the market on it's own. I think this is a clear indication that BTC can no longer be treated as gold.

What worries me more is the significance of ETH taking the number 1 spot. To many people this will be a demonstration that no currency has the divine right to be number 1. I think too many people have thought that BTC would always hold this place and hence was a safe investment for long term. I think there will be a very sudden realisation that any digital currency can get the top spot, and there are 1000 other currencies behind ETH that could challenge in future. If any currency can get there then what is the value in holding BTC today? If ETH beats it soon then what's going to beat it next? It's already too slow and expensive to be used to purchase things other than drugs/guns etc so most of its (and other currencies) valuation is pure speculation.

Do you guys understand the implications of this?

At the end of the day its always going to be a matter of opinion whether ETH (or BTC) is in a bubble and only time can tell. My feeling is that ETH is going to crash but I think it will still overtake bitcoin longterm (unless BTC gets its shit together).

That's good because I just earned a $50 profit by dumping my ETH on those people buying currently because of FOMO.
You know at least Bitcoin has ASIC so not every body could start mining it while even GPU manufacturers could be mining ethereum right now without us knowing it.
Now I have another theory, LTC has 2 minutes block time and has a very low transaction fee but why no body showing any interest? I might know why, they don't control LTC supply to be able to manipulate it.

It's not that big of a deal for me, I was just asking you to give me some reasons to put my trust in it.. but judging by your answers you're just looking to get satisfaction from seeing bitcoin go down

I wouldn't say that no one is interested in Litecoin

It might have been true in the past when Litecoin had essentially been the same Bitcoin, Bitcoin copycat on juice, but since Bitcoin was (and still is) mostly used for speculation, low (or high) fees don't matter a lot at the large scale. Now that Litecoin has SW and LN when Bitcoin faces potential chain split, a lot more people may finally get interested in this coin. So if people turn away from Bitcoin for whatever reason, they will most likely end up with Litecoin

I really think ETH is going to take the number one spot, ETH is slowly growing, it's just a matter of time. Bitcoin is way older than ETH, Only if ETH was older than BTC, we would have been saying a different story now

So this is going to be a crypto war between ETH and bitcoin, what ever it is ,it will take a really long time to catch up with bitcoin as it needs to increase five times with the current value of ETH,lets see how things go and when it will catch up Cheesy

Litecoin has already had a really good run and I'm also kinda positive about the fact that the price hasn't risen in a way that screams bubble, now it's sitting fairly stable at around $25 - $30.
If you check out what's still planned for development, you'll see that there are still a lot of features that are going to be added.

You can check out the 2017 roadmap for Litecoin here:

Yes, It's possible. Last couple of days the progress of ETH so impressive. Not only you every bitcoin holders stated that ETH will be the next Bitcoin. Seems like digital currencies have another big winner now, Ethereum surely it’s more than just good news for early investors.

It is true that litecoin is the only coin that is yet to see a good rally, almost all of the coins have risen throughout the past few months and litecoin is yet to have a good rally that could break its all time record, even i am positive that it will catch up in the future.

if bitcoin is getting to more expensive than now and bitcoin is only for exchanging from bitcoin to fiat or altcoin to bitcoin, then maybe eth will take the number one spot for altcoin and eth will replace the function of bitcoin. but we don't know what will happen in future and we only followed the crypto currency world so i think we can waiting that time is come and we can see what will happen. i think its not because eth is younger than bitcoin, but its about the history of cryptocurrency itself.

Please, don't think only about price.
We should also check other factors like how many merchants accepts certain crypto currency,  how much there is ATM and debit cards for this crypto currency etc.
When everything is taken into account, bitcoin is still number one for a long time, and all other crypto currencies are still far away.
Of course, things on Internet can change very quickly, so if bitcoin don't solve current issue with very long confirmation time and high transaction fees, we may see another winner in a few years.

That might be true. But I do not believe Ethereum will be able to hold their gains for long. Sooner or later the price has to go down simply because that is what markets do.

So always remind yourself not to get lost in the mania and try to stay objective. In a market like this, it is easy to think that the good days will never end.

Ethereum is under a massive bubble due the ongoing ICO frenzy where everyone wants to buy into the next %1000+ performer. They all need ETH to buy into those ICOs. The Bancor ICO is today so it's clear that this is helping into keeping ETH on the green while BTC dips and so do the rest of alts.

I think ethereum cant even pass the bitcoin behind.Because bitcoin has already reached many people more than the ethereum and the bitcoins popularity is way much higher that that. The fact that bitcoin is very powerful makes it more impossble for the ethereum to pass it behind.

I thought for sure it would take until the end of 2018 but it looks like this summer ethereum might pass it up. With the turmoil around BTC potential splitting, it might be very soon. IMO this is healthy, we will always value bitcoin for being the one that started it all, but it's time for a more dynamic and adaptable currency to take the lead.

ethereum passing bitcoin lol when? ethereum is still at 0.1 and dash also went to 0.1 but it didn't pass bitcoin, it was dumped after that, it will be the same for ethereum, there was never a coin that matched bitcoin 1:1 and i think never will be

But i do not think so. because etherium is still too much fare away from bitcoin, bitcoin is still becoming more stronger, the popularity of bitcoin is still increasing, because moe and more people are  entering in the world of bitcon which is making bitcoin more stronter.

ETH has potential, that is true but O don't beleive that it will take the number one place among cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin is very established and accepted so far and despite the issues he faces still has no serious competition, especialy regarding to value and implementation in real life.

ethereum has risen fast this weeks . i think ethereum will be no. 1 soon. market fluctuates too high although it has some severe crushes . the real question is who will be the next coin that will be no.1 for a long time. still bitcoin hold that record.
