I thought for sure it would take until the end of 2018 but it looks like this summer ethereum might pass it up. With the turmoil around BTC potential splitting, it might be very soon. IMO this is healthy, we will always value bitcoin for being the one that started it all, but it's time for a more dynamic and adaptable currency to take the lead.
Simply because it is not feasible that every day there are 100 ICO e-mails per day, and some of them have good coin, so it is perfectly possible to replace the btc. Good luck

yes, because most people in many countries still use their own currency as a means of payment for other transactions, and many still do not agree on the presence of new currency such as bitcoin to do or the second currency as a transaction.

The company and management of bitcoin is slowly build its name and waves its flag in the whole world.
Through their excellent management and innovation in their process they become the number one so all things regards to that issue are false and just gossip who tries to ruined its beautiful name.

Maybe. I also had the feeling that this 2018, Bitcoins wouldn't be king anymore. I really do hope it keeps collecting value throughout the year 2018. I still do hope that bitcoins keep to its name of being the king of all cryptocurrency, but as we progress to 2018, it keeps fluctuating hard.

You have said it all. Bitcoin as the foundation crypto did well and still doing well. The fact as it stands now remains that ethereum is very stable going by the track record for sometime now.

Bitcoin is delivering its promise of security quite well which is why a lot of people continue to trust in it. However, as for me, I would prefer security, low fees, and quick confirms all in one package...

Jokes on you because bitcoins are still king. Kidding aside, I think if the price of bitcoins today are kept trailing and stopped from rising, I think bitcoins will eventually crash yet again and etherium would take its place as the new king. There will be another fork on the 28th because the developers of Segwit2x have revived the campaign.
No it will ne the number one for long andt it will remain the king cryptocurrency because if bitcoin replace by another cryprocurrency it means it will also be replace by another cyptocurrency because they feated the the most cyptocurrency so it will easy for crypto to replace then. And for me bitcoin can be number 1 for long because it is the become well develop and become most trusted of many people in all over the world.
I do not agree with you i personally think that ethereum can replace bitcoin easily the price is increasing slower than that from bitcoin but in technology and other things ethereum is way more further.

I'm agreeing with you because from last few months ethereum got an spectacular growth rate in crypto market. So there is no more far to beat bitcoin if this performance countinues as now.

This may take a little time because the difference between BTC and the Altcoins is quite considerable in terms of price

Can you compare $1300 and $13000. It will take bitcoin to stop mining before Ethereum will surpass it. It may if possible will be for longer time to come. Bitcoin will do all within her power to remain number 1.

The price of bitcoin is down, investors are investing in other projects as much. The bitcoin market is shared by other types of crypto. I think bitcoin will not be the number one for a long time.

If we won't see some significant changes to bitcoin ecosystem and network we may see the slow decline of the king of crypto.
I still believe in Core team will lead us to victory here - but honestly what we can do when the power is shared with greedy miners?
This is the reason we have 2 forks with different actions already (Cash and Gold). I think that diminished the position of the original BTC.

I think it is not going to happen this year. In fact, Bitcoin price is not increasing for now, but there is no reason for BTC to stay stable for a longer time.

I think this is not certain, because bitcoin is still in its infancy and as more and more people now know that it is time to start investing in bitcoin, it can not be said that Bitcoin will not disappear for a short period of time.

When you wrote this post, Bitcoin was still valued quite lower as compared to what it has acquired in value right now, even if it has already gone some dumping for a while. Right now, Bitcoin is indeed in red blood. But so are the altcoins and that would include your coin of choice Ethereum. I know you have seen this red season several times before. And you know what will happen next if such a thing as this is happening. Money will be overflowing.  Wink

Maybe it is not, but now I think it will last longer to be the number one in the market and it will last longer if many will invest in it, also the price will increase.

Many companies believing on that since they want to replace the company of bitcoin in this particular industry.
The company of bitcoins always promote innovation in all aspect through this they can occur more great ideas to provide excellent services.
Aside from that this thing will not likely happen because many people in this world supports the services of bitcoin and they are loyal investors to them.

Well, even if ethereum is at number 2, it's still too far from bitcoin. Bitcoin is too far too be reached because a lot of people are trusting bitcoin. Bitcoin has gone through a lot and it still remained number 1 because a lot of people trust it. It will just keep growing as time goes by.
