Your time frames sound way too optimistic to me, but time will tell.

TerraHash, would it be possible to setup a mailing list on your site to sign up for status updates?

One option that I wish that was available was to have either the 16 or 64 board to order without Avalon chips being installed. Hopefully this would be cheaper and allow me to get a system up faster as I don't have to deal with the wasted time of shipping chips back and forth.

So, you have access to a reflow oven?

Just curious.

Tricky warranty questions may arise if one of the reflow ovens (TerraHash's or yours) winds up not being calibrated properly and, as a consequence, damages/destroys one or more of the electronic components.

Yeah I work for an electronics company that has a reflow oven I can use after hours. For me I am most concerned about the turn around time. If I can get a board from terrahash or directly from BBK that should help me to get mining with the chips faster.
Pick & Place machine also I presume?
Do you have a plan for the solder paste stencil - e.g. source/thickness?
Solder paste in mind? (Assuming everyone is going to use lead based since it reflows at such a nice low temp and is all around awesome)

Lead-based solder is basically outlawed in California now - this just FYI.

Terrahash,

Are you sending your sample chips to Bkk?

So you want Bkk to perfect his design without sample chips, so you can use his design to make money?

I figured to purchase a lot from you, but now I highly doubt that I will purchase ANYTHING from you.

Good luck with that mentality.

No IIRC they even offered paying him to use the design. He is getting some batch 1 samples anyway, calm the unnecessary hostility.

It sounded like Steamboat would be providing some of his batch samples to BKK.

My guess is that BKK will have more than enough samples with the number of folks who are planning on solely using his design.  Other folks who are looking at home grown options will necessarily need their own samples for their own proprietary solutions.

Of course us in the peanut gallery love the open source approach, but it isn't the only way... and those other options may have longer "dedicated" support.

I am still planning on getting a K64 board or two from terrahash if they are able to stick to their price guidance.  I will also be looking at who else is making boards (sensei?/steamboat?/viceroy?/etc.)

How long do you think it'll be until you get your chips in? I'm buying the K64 module from you guys for sure.

If you read my original comment correctly, I said "license the design from BkkCoins". We will either buy the boards from him, or license his design. In any case he will be making money from us.

Your original comment went something like...
" A. No, we will be using BkkCoins' Klondike design. We are already in talks with him for a bulk order. But of course, we are still waiting for specs from Avalon, before he can finish the design."

... so, do let us speak about accuracy, reading comprehension, integrity and industrial paracitism.

Q. Are you going to design your own PCBs?
A. No, we will be using BkkCoins' Klondike design. We are already in talks with him for a bulk order. But of course, we are still waiting for specs from Avalon, before he can finish the design.

As it is open source they could quite easily, legally, and technically ethically (developer was the one to make it open) take those plans, commercialise them and sell at 100000% markup without even informing him. Instead they're voluntarily offering to licence em and are in talks. They've got no obligation at all to do this!

Seriously why the hostility?

I don't see it as hostility at all.
But ducks rightly are known as ducks, correct?

Terrahash wants Bkk to do the heavy lifting for them.
Their 2 full orders worth of sample chips won't be going to Bkk.
I find that telling.

Why the concern about what a customer thinks?

I am not compelled to turn away silently from what I consider a shitty deal.

Why are you so concerned for their feelings?

You sound angry and confrontational about things that are non issues. If bkk had any problem whatsoever with people using his designs he wouldn't be publishing them on the internet.

I am interested in this:

http://terrahash.com/hosting/

Can you explain it a bit more please?

Quote
The hosting charges are as follows:

4.5 GHash modular boards: $3.00 per month per board.
18 GHash modular boards: $10.00 per month per board.
TerraHash DX Mini: $30.00 per month/unit.
TerraHash DX Large: $50.00 per month/unit.

How many accounts do you expect to get onto each 4.5GH/s board?
If I pay $3.00/Month as suggested above, what is my ROR? How is this calculated?
Can I rent the entire thing myself for $x per month?

Will the DX Mini and DX Large products be modular enough to allow future extensibility through later purchases of their respective module boards or will they be locked down to only support the number of boards they are originally purchased with?

IE, will a purchase of a DX Mini with 5 boards provide hardware that has the capacity to be later upgraded to the full 20 board capacity with purchases of compatible modules later on down the line?  There’s a really large slice of ambiguity on your website there, ‘Can contain up to 20 boards’ doesn't indicate if every product can do that, or just the 20 board product can do that.  If they are indeed modular, will end users be able to add capacity with purchases of later module cards without soldering or is diy a factor there?  Just how end user friendly are they?

Maybe it’s just me but I need to be absolutely certain about what I’d be getting, even if I have to look silly in the process of asking.  But… maybe think about throwing up some diagrams up for anyone that’s especially anxious / inept at deciphering the current statements.  Even a little bit of the unknown in this is harmful for you and if you can indeed provide a platform that allows miners to scale so easily - i think you'll certainly have something that some of your competitors are missing, certainly unique at this power and price point.

Yes, the DXs are truly modular. You can buy a DX with only one board installed, and buy additional modules later and install them in it.

outstanding!

I too found this a bit unclear on your webpage. Overall, it's a nice, clean and easily navigable page, but it could use some revision in the descriptions. I know you're still developing, so this part is more of a "wish-list" item, but when available, can you post up pics on the page? Even prototype pics would be useful (and titillating...)
