was something like this already suggested?
only include cryptocurrencies which are traded at least on "xx" number of long standing exchanges.
(and not if its only traded on 1-2 new shady "exchanges" with low volume which are created/selected solely for the purpose of market manipulation)

This. !

Nxt is launching decentralized exchange for converting BTC/fiat into NXT and back (or BTC to fiat and back). Having "xx" number of long standing exchanges doesn't make much sense anymore, unless u r going to stuck in Middle Ages, guys.

This does not answer these questions --

Quote
How do you prove the authenticity of this site?

It maybe that the NXT author just inflated the prices (cause he's also owning the website) and took BTC for a crypto which has no value.

Quote
Well I'm not the author of NXT nor American.

I'm the founder of DGEX and nextcoin.org, and this thread concerns DGEX the exchange, not the viabilitiy of NXT itself.

Regardless, I don't see suggested scam anywhere. I only see pouring out negativity arising from hesitation / envy / lack of courage or resources.

This does not answer my question.

If you're not the founder of NXT, then you may be holding a large stake in it (maybe you were given a lot of NXT just for the job and to keep quiet), and by creating these websites you're 'pumping' it'.

Now cause the coin is gaining on popularity (cause of false inflated prices as shown in the websites made by NXT holders), it may be listed in more popular exchanges and have a good price..

More suspicious is the fact that you made a separate exchange instead of requesting the existing ones to add the coins possibly cause they refused to artificially inflate the prices (or duping investors).

These sound like harsh questions, but these are real serious questions which need to be answered in order to prove the coin is not a scam. After I'm satisfied, I may invest.

From https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=189919.280

I'm sorry, but to prove the authenticity of the new crypto, you have to answer these questions.

As of the website -- coinmarketcap.com should show true market capital, not fakes from any website. Please take popular exchanges into account only.

Otherwise the authenticity of your site will be questioned.

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

Agree. Let's remove Nxt from the Coinmarketcap. It will be a problem of CMC who doesn't list one of the most popular cryptocoins, people will just move to its competitor who list all currencies.

Well done adding NXT back.

Do we have an official statement why it has appeared and disappeared several times? I assumed it was simply problems with the NXT client or blockchain.

Could you add MMC?

Block explorer which shows total amount of coins: http://www.chainbrowser.com/memorycoin/
Exchange: https://bter.com/trade/mmc_btc

Thanks.

Yes! Please add MemoryCoin 2.0 This is new innovative coin from the developer of ProtoShares. MMC is the next big thing in CPU coins.

NXT coin is created in to existence with 0 cost, given to selected group of people to be sold to public through their own exchange with complete advantage to selected few and you think you have evidence that they are manipulating price discovery? Say it aint so!

I am starting to think coinmarketcap admin was given some of these blasphemous coins to add it back up...

Also, with coins which come in to existence with 1 billion coins already made you cant take last 20-1000 trades and multiply that price using the rest of volume in order to come up with market cap, that is messed up in every way. You should only consider Coins for market cap which were sold SO FAR  not how many devs are holding in their dirty hands...

Why don't I create a shell company that issues 1 billion shares, then give them out to friends, selected investment advisers and sell 100,000+ on my own private stock exchange (which trades only this company's stock) starting with $1 price, to my own fake accounts and idiots who follow technical analysis to their grave. Does that make my company worth a billion $$$? Give your head a shake, seriously remove this nonsense or adjust the formula for coins with such insane initial distribution model.

Kthx

Ok NXT market cap formula is 999,997,986 X $ 0.037 = $ 36,968,943

Using this formula the moment it hits $1 you will effectively rank it higher then Litecoin on market cap.
Do you honestly not see a problem with formula used in this particular case?

999,997,986 coins were created out of thin air and never moved around or had any value put in to them, like electricity, mining equipment, human hours and so on.

You have to get a reliable feed/data which shows how many coins were/are sold on that stupid exchange they come up with and multiply that number by last price to get closer to real market cap. Although even in this case you have no way of knowing if they are cheating, considering they are all seeking financing benefit from it and are motivated to trade their own coins to bring price up.
This particular coin, by design, is VERY different from normal coin distribution models and it HAS to be taken in to account or you are deliberately misleading people in the community with false data.

In normal cases all coins which come in to existence can be used for market cap calculation as they all have intrinsic value of electrical cost, mining, human hours and seek profit to cover initial cost of acquisition. Where NXT total coins are just there and are not in circulation until people get them at what ever rate these few a@$wipes will sell them at on their own exchange, meaning in this model these come in to existence after purchase and thus can only be counted in market cap after first purchase.

This is ridicules

I see this problem. I remember when Litecoin was pumped from 0.1$ to 5$ in no time. All cryptos has this problem. Sad that u point only to Nxt and don't talk about the others.

There is no problem with the formula, you clearly do not understand what market cap is supposed to show. Any of the founders who hold a large amount of coins can sell them whenever they want. If their coins become worth $10 million and they only want to sell 1000NXT that is up to them. Market cap reflects the overall market consensus of the value of the coin based on who sells and who buys.

What about Satoshi who mined almost 1 million bitcoins? Or the Litecoin addresses that hold hundreds of thousands of Litecoin and haven't had any activity in them for a year etc. According to your own argument that would also make market cap invalid  Cheesy

Thanks Gliss for commenting on multiple ideas raised in this discussion!

Not easy balance as there are many vested interests - many folks seem to prefer talking up their book and attacking the competors on here Wink

Yeah, please add MMC. It now has a block explorer, an exchange and a few pools.
Please add MMC 2.0 soon.
