Do Altcoins really have a future?

I think in short term every thing is possible as we experienced high increase in prices of most of major altcoins such as Ethereum. But in long term everything depends on what will happen to Bitcoin.
In my opinion in future we will have only one acceptable cryptocurrency. If Bitcoin can solve its problems like high transaction fees that you mentioned, It will be that cryptocurrency. If not we should wait for another cryptocurrecncy that will replace Bitcoin.
We should also consider another important issue which is governments decisions. In future after accepting bitcoins by entire world, Governments would like to have more control on the system. We should wait for their decision whether they want bitcoin to be that major cryptocurrency or not.

One acceptable cryptocurrency is the future. And government pressure into that coin is the thing to discuss in the future.

But if governments try to control that system, alternative coins will survive in order to eliminate the pressure..

I think the best thing about crypto for now is that governments have no control over it. Once governments sink their fingers into it, it might get all turpsy-turvy.

There are many promising and useful altcoins.Some  of them have focused on speed,some alts have low transaction fees,all altcoins have their aims and goals.i think that they have future,You can see Increase of profit by 2017: 1.Ethereum 2,000%+. 2.Litecoin 750%. despite this each altcoin comes with its own strengths and weakness.

Altcoins are only for short term. I don't buy altcoins, I earn them. When I earned, I sell it immediately. I don't hold it, I exchange it to eth and eth to btc. That's the time I hold it. When the value of btc increases, I exchange it to cash. But there are some altcoins have potential and some are not. I do have a hunderd or more shitcoins in my wallet.

I believe Bitcoin has a future in long term. It proved itself in the past years and it is getting widely popular. It just has a transaction fee problem atm.

What about the altcoins? Who does use them for real? Will people use them in the future for real purpose?

I only have a hope for ethereum and litecoin, but not for the rest. I am not even sure for eth and ltc.

If bitcoin solves the reansaction fee and time problem, I doubt eth and ltc even have a future.

The only altcoins that have a better future which I am sure that it has are Ethereum, Xem, Waves, Mysterium, Adex, Dent, And the upcoming altcoin due to it is currently in the ico campaign which is Earth token and Utrust, then Caviar.

This is true. That is why I told a lot of people to have a good portfolio in their crypto investment. Alt coins does have huge chances to gain massive profits like x10 or even x100 which it very hard for btc to do so. However, btc itself is stable and grow organic-ly.

If the right alt comes around with a solid team that has actual marketing experience, and had someone in a position of power at a top company (such as IBM, Amazon, etc) they could absolutely replace BTC as the dominant payment form. I would say Dash has come to the closest to this, as they actually earn enough funds from the coin to reinvest in marketing, an incubator program, etc.

BTC needs to fix the scaling issue, the mining centralization issue, etc for it to be dominant in 20+ years.

You can't compare BTC with ETH as you're doing. Both of them are solving something completely different than the other. Actually ETH is more similar to BTC than BTC to ETH, because ETH can do what BTC does (transfer of value) but BTC can't do what ETH is doing (programming smart contracts), and that's quite big. If anything has a future then it's Ethereum, it might serve at the moment mainly ICO's and act as a crowdfunding platform, but there will be far more applications launching in the short and long term and you'll see that ETH is capable of so much more than we currently are aware of. Most of the things that can be created with Ethereum have not even been thought about.. it's the very begin of a very long story and whoever is invested early will eventually reap the benefits.

altcoin for me are good only by day trading but for long term i dont even know and think if there should be an altcoin that are good on it that he can be a good for the nera future may be it will be for having the best team and people that are trusting on it.

I love this crypto world just because of this as we can hit any limit any time but need some work and luck because if you are going with right amount and right place you can earn as you have no dream I try few months ago but have very little profit still in hunting for this chance hope have in future

just a speculation but we can even know if that may happen , but for me nothing to be against with you the way on how you think for what will happen i dont think that it may happen so we should just wait , for the upcoming 2018 i am hoping that the market will be in a good it was a long run again with the currencies that able to make some profit , but who knows for this coming years that the altcoin most of them are make some noise. Many of alcoins on the market will die in the next few years (months for some coins maybe). But I'm sure that almost everything around us will be digitized and tokenized in the nearest future. So, these dead altcoines will be replaced by the next generation of altcoins v.2.0 soon.

The price of altcoin fluctuates far more than bitcoin does, so it is true that many of the fortunes are made on altcoin.
But the problem is that if prices fall, I think most of the altcoin is going down much faster than bitcoin, which is a problem that has to be faced.
