Should I Go To College ???

Hi everyone,

What advice would you give a HS senior in US about to decide on and/or enter college ?

The decision is not that hard for me to do actually. To have a degree or not, I would definitely choose to have a degree. Which leads to another, to have a secure job in the future or not, I would choose to have a secure job. A college degree is a great asset. Not to mention the so many things that will be added to your knowledge.

Yes you should, You will not only get an education and it will get you a much needed social experience. Even if you go and take just the classes you like and don't get a degree.

I recommend an apprenticeship in the field of profession your prefer.
Adding working experience to your resume is probably the best way to stay ahead of your competitors in a job interview.
You will have real value to bring to the company, instead of a liberal arts, woman's studies degree.

Yes exactly.  Those who fails plan to fails it seems like that.  Why would you not take a chance to go to college.  It will be helpful to finish a degree.  If you have a degree it would be easy for everyone to at least have a good job or at least land a job because now, major requirements when you are applying for a job.  As one great leader said, the best way to fight poverty is through education.  So it is absolutely better to finish college than doing nothing and become part of unemployed people.

You must go to college. In college and universities you learn more about the system and socio-economics. If you go to college and graduate there are more oppurtunity that will comes to you and it will help you to have a good job .

Going to a college is not just beneficial for getting a future job. It has many other advantages as well. You will get the opportunity to interact with students and teachers from a wide variety of backgrounds, and you will get more opportunity to try your luck with arts and sports. Even if you fail to graduate from the college, the experiences that you gain may become valuable later in the life.

Decide if you want a STEM degree or not. STEM = Science, technology, engineering, or math. If you want a career in any of these fields then college is a great choice in my opinion. However, if you're studying art, business, polisci (I went this route), psychology -> then go work in the field for a year or two. See if you really like it. Most of these other non-STEM degrees I have found will accept folks at entry level without a college degree. Especially a young, hungry individual with a Resume, cover letter, letter of recommendation, ect. ect. I say the more the better when you're young. Good luck soldier Enjoy college if you go!
