Even more claiming bcc/bch through desktop or hardware wallet is so risky as their are scam wallets which steals your btc when you download the bch/bcc wallet and try to claim the free bch/bcc.

My Trezor worked great, just a couple days late.  They programmed in a "sweep", so all transaction history prior to Aug 1 12:20, was compressed into one.  It looks like I've only received one transaction instead of the entire history.  Pretty good for reducing Unspent Transaction Outputs.

And there goes your privacy.  You'll have no idea which unspent outputs are linked with which other ones when you start transacting BCH.

What you're doing is not the safe way recommended on this thread. You should have sent your BTC to a new address or addresses. If the BCH wallet you're using is compromised, it can steal all your coins with the way you have proceeded.

Now about sending BCH at the same time as BTC, it's not possible, so there is no risk of that happening. It's like asking if you can make a single wire transfer with dollars and rubles, not going to happen.

So the 1st post in this thread states to do things in this order:

1. Create a new wallet
2. Send all your BTC to this new wallet
3. On a separate computer, install a BCash wallet and import keys from your original, now empty, BTC wallet

So that is pretty much what I did, only I did step 3 before moving my BTC to the new wallet.  I'm now working on steps 1 and 2.

The reason I'm doing steps 1 and 2 is that I understand there would otherwise be a risk of loosing my BTC balance when I transact my BCC since they both share the same keys.

All 3 computers are on my local LAN with a gateway/firewall to the outside and all the wallets are encrypted.

That's not the risk at all. The risk is that you have given a private key (wallet.dat in your case) full of BTC to an untrusted piece of software.

You can still correct this, if your funds haven't been stolen, by sending now your BTC to a new address.

So Bitcoin ABC Wallet is untrusted?  I downloaded it directly from https://www.bitcoinabc.org  The look and feel is identical to Bitcoin Core.

Hi everyone !

1st August my coins were on a multisig Copay Wallet. I would like to get my BCH.

The problem is for one of my 2 private keys when I put it in Electron, it gives me a different public key and shows no coin.
If I put the public keys in "just watch" mode I can see my coins...
I think its linked to the fact the copay is Bip44 and electron Bip39.
It is the same problem with the seed (mnemotechnic).

Does anyone have a solution ?

For the other key, it's not working if I put the private directly, but its working with the seed (public address shows by electron is the good one).
Strange thing, the key which is not working is in French with é (accentuation).

Bitcoin ABC client gets code implemented by devs not related to Core, and thus can't be seen as equal to the Core client in terms of how solid it and well tested it is. They even removed the SegWit code. At the end of the day, it's all up to you whether or not you want to make use of it. Just make sure that you only import private keys that don't contain any Bitcoin value -- there is no need to expose yourself to unnecessary risks.

Correct me if I am wrong...   In order to "correct" the jeopardy of the BTC, they have to be sent to a new address that is in a new wallet, and once the transaction has been sent (maybe a few confirmations, minimum) then the coins are safe in the new address, so long as they are in a new wallet and before they are potentially jeopardized by being unnecessarily exposed to questionable software as they remain in the old address and old wallet?

It's already over even If you add bitcoins into exchanges right now, you won't be credited BCH and If you are looking for exchanges that accept deposits with low amount of confirmation then I suggest HitBTC, and for a full list check CoinMarketCap as BitcoinCash official site seem to be outdated.

The BCH distribution is over, it happened on August 1st circa 12:20 UCT. All participants will have now received the BCH if they were due any.

you can still claim with your local wallet, any privatekey that go through the fork and was holding bitcoin before it, i'm sure not everyone claimed his/her bitcoin cash yet
