nightengale, I haven't heard the episode yet, I'll get back to you Smiley  Sounds like something Andreas would say.

Andreas indeed chimed in, no big surprise there.  : )   But prior to the discussion they played an audio quote from Dan Komensky (sp?) at Bitcoin San Diego 2013 where he made a claim that the current proof of work algorithm would not last another 12 months. He's of course not the boss of Bitcoin, but the boldness of his statement and the implications of it got my attention.

First I've seen of them actually.  Looks like they have been taking orders for over a month at least, though, and were supposed to deliver a couple days ago.  Maybe this is a typo on the page, since it says they have 2500/2500 machines.

Yeah I would like to put everyone on, but I have to see a more about their credentials and business model.  They just came out of the blue with pictures of fully built miners.

Bitfury just released an update with new miner specs for the 400GH/S.

  • October pricing for the 400GH/S is 7500 EUR
  • August pricing for the 400GH/S is 15000 EUR.
  • There's also a "starter 25GH/S kit" for 1000 EUR.[/i]

Value chart created.  For now the original chart is under the links, but eventually it will not be needed.

I'm not seeing these on their page or link.  Thanks for trying, I've looked twice now at different time, and I'm not coming up with anything.

Ok great!  I wonder why it's not on their site.  Not the easiest format to pick info out of either.. but maybe that's just me.
Thanks for the link.

Changed the main section of the table to Value.  ROI/Cost

Old table still accessible at the bottom of the page.

Lead times changed to manufacturer stated time.  Soon I'll have the data up so people can choose what month they think is right.

Strange, I definitely fixed some of that at one point.  Sometimes that happens to me on excel, and I haven't figured out why.  Maybe too liberal with ctrl-z

Now it should all be fixed.
Thanks

Removed Big Time Coin.  Didn't see that they had cut their operation.  Good for them, I hope they get another chance some day.  Rather than getting deeper they cut out before they put anyone else in financial jeopardy.

I am just curious:  why are none of the projects, whether DIY, or kit, or offered assembly, for BFL's chips included in your DIY section?

A bit confused as to why the various Avalon Batches (B1/B2/B3) are not put in for comparison.

Not sure how the avalon batches is different the AM Blades which have been out of stock for a while now.

I guess this is only for folks buying new units, but seeing a comparison of the batches (B1/B2/B3), might help folks looking at a second hand unit.  I am guessing that the number of used Avalon's entering the market will start to be more significant before any of the competitors start shipping en masse (which will make them the most available).

Hi, you're the first person to poke me for not having them on Smiley  I'll get to it, didn't really realize they were starting to get organized.

I didn't realize I had an AM blade that's out of stock, I thought it was just an inconsistent flow.
I'm glad you're interested in having this information available, because I am definitely on the way to putting it up.  Wouldn't it be difficult to have a (B1/B2/B3) comparison?  It seems like many units are shipping out of sequence.  There may be an obvious way of doing this that I'm not seeing.

The method I was going to use was to give the current month and about 6 months out, giving the data on each month for each unit.  That would allow people to see if they got a unit now second hand what it would be worth, or if they had something coming a month from now.  Then it wouldn't matter what batch, just the hashing power vs lead time.

I suggest to make a distinction between the silver Avalons of B1 and black Avalons of B2.
The black ones are newer and are capable of running faster (around max. 300Mhz versus 350 Mhz).

I am selling in stock OneStringMiner boards, based on the Bitfury chips. Have a look here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=495536.0

Thanks.

By the way, a great thread and great service, IMO.  Objective comparisons, without the noise, spin and FUD of fans and bashers is essential for this general topic.

Thank you, again.

Why is Avalon not on this list?   That seems very odd.
