If you have >1000 Khash/s just keep solo mining.

You still find an average of 9 blocks in 24 hours at current difficulty with 1000 Khash/s Smiley

No pool fees, no DDOS, no pool crashes, etc.

Just went back on mining solo again Smiley

I'm pretty sure its less than that.

Difficulty is 2.22 (last i checked).

It should take only about 4 hrs to find a block with 600 kh/s at current difficulty.

SOLO mine away !

Is there a dummies guide to setting up solominig?

Everytime I try to start the server it tells me I need a

rpcpassword

even though I have one set in my .conf file;

#
listen=1
upnp=1
rpcuser=YourUserName
rpcpassword=YourPassword
rpcallowip=*
rpcport=9554
rpcconnect=*
daemon=1
server=1
gen=0
#

What am I doing wrong?

Often that error pops up when the file is saved as .conf.txt, make sure it's just .conf

How do I tell if I have set it up correctly without waiting for an entirely new block? cgminer currently says

New Block Detected on network. Does that mean it's workign correctly? How will it know where to payout?

I assume 127.0.0.1 is your computers localhost and we should use what we get from cmd>ipconfig instead?

"New block detected" that means another miner found the block, so you receive no reward.
127.0.0.1 is good.
Seems like you are solo mining just fine, once you solve your first block it is very exciting!

how will I know and how long should I expect to wait if I have 2500Kh/s ?

When you solve the block a message will appear, "Found block on pool 0" or something like that.
As far as how long it will take, it depends.  2500 Kh/s is a good rate and you'll probably find a few blocks today.

You're using your wallet as a server to run cgminer and once a block is found it will payout using one of the addresses it finds in that server(your wallet).

If you're mining to your local wallet, then base it off of what cgminer is reporting. That is your actual hashrate.

Pools, only estimate hashrates anyway, based off share submissions.

I switched over to pxc.HackShardGaming.net pool, started out around 10% rejects, after about an hour nearly all my shares are being rejected.

Are all these rejects due to the pool or should I change settings in my cgminer?

The rejects COULD be due to the network.

I'm guessing maybe you're on stratum, if you're local mining without stratum then I know you need to set the ask rate to about 1-5 seconds. Test around til you have desired stale %, once the network adjusts , the stales will round off.

They could be caused by the port you are using as well.  Sometimes we have a problem with 1 of the 4 ports getting alot more rejects. You can try switching ports to one of the other 3.  I have been mining for about an hour since restarting my cgminer and I have 456 accepts and only 9 rejects.

So Definitly not my pool

*EDIT* you can also try changing your Intensity to a lower number or a higher number. Just play around with it.

Ok thank you guys, I switched the port and just got through my first 1000 accepts with a little under 4% rejects.  If the rejects go back up I will lower the intensity.

Anyone else consider that a good sign?  I know I do.  When you start getting the attention of the ddos kiddies you know you're doing something right.

Charlie Kelly: I'm pleading the 5th.  The Attorney: I would advise you do that.  Charlie Kelly: I'll take that advice under cooperation, alright? Now, let's say you and I go toe-to-toe on bird law and see who comes out the victor?  The Attorney: You know, I don't think I'm going to do anything close to that and I can clearly see you know nothing about the law.

Nope no relation to that link at all...

I suggest you ask them if they licensed the image like we did from http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-illustration-9751223-death-of-a-phoenix.php?st=d9c5b9b

We deal with people all day stealing our content, we enforce our copyright and abide by all 2257 laws. We surely would not come into a new industy
and rip off someones image. For some out there that might be a business model but for us this is not.

If you have >1000 Khash/s just keep solo mining.

You still find an average of 9 blocks in 24 hours at current difficulty with 1000 Khash/s Smiley

No pool fees, no DDOS, no pool crashes, etc.

Just went back on mining solo again Smiley

could you educate me on how you found this information and came to this conclusion?
