I'm a little too lazy / busy to run a block explorer, but after the crazy last two trading days, I'm a little bit concerned by how much the existing PXCs are concentrating in the hands of a quite small group of people ...

For the well being of the coin, it would be better to have more dilution ... (and thus more involved people)

From the behavior on cryptsy it was clear that most buy orders were coming from a few people competing.
(well, by selling and buying again I managed to double my holding, even if I missed the first and biggest spike because it was during my sleep time ^^ ... almost 10K now, not that bad considering I only invested my modest 850kH/s mining power for a few weeks)

In my opinion there is no way the coin will gain a lot of value over night (and keep it) at that point  ... This is not even advisable in those "coinchoose" days, as we can see on the difficulty. Most holders now are long term ones ... we do not care to wait months or years.

That's an interesting assertion. What do you base it on, though ?

I think It can be argued both ways. I have a feeling that most of the small holders have sold when PXC first hit cryptsy, and yes, I agree with you that only the big holders bought even more. That's because we have faith in the future of Phenix, most of all.
In stocks trading they have the terms " weak hands"  and " strong hands ".

The big holders right now are strong hands. We hold because we are waiting for all the cool services that Mike and John are working on. They are e-commerce veterans that are working around the clock to code, make connections with developers and do a lot of politics behind the scenes.

The weak hands are the ones who are looking to flip their PXC in a few days for double or triple digits profits, percentage-wise. Those guys are gone now because they didn't get results fast enough.

Ok, to come back to your statement ; yes, it's probably better if more people hold PXC, because they can spread the word faster. Then again, a few hardcore followers ( like yours truly Wink are also very good at promoting PXC because we're so enthusiastic.

We also hold the price up. I personally buy all the coins under .00018, without thinking, as long as my savings account holds out. There are more guys like me.

I disagree. While I'm a long term bull on PXC, i think it also makes sence for daytraders to buy. Look at what happened with that first spike. A few screenshots and good news released by Mike and John, and BOOM ! Prices thorugh the roof.
It wasn;t even that much that they gave away. Imagine what happens when a really exciting [ANN] thread gets posted here for a new PXC service.... and trust me, that's going to happen sooner or later.

Who are "we"  ?

I don't mind waiting months or even a year.  I'd rather slowly keep buying something that's going to appreciate in value 10x then  make dangerous bets on altcoins that COULD double in value in a few days. But I have a feeling these days those opportunities are becoming very rare.

PXC is incredibly undervalued right now. If I didn't have a wife and child I'd sell my everything I don't need to survive and invest it into PXC. I've chatted with John a few times and I trust him not to let us down.

I got your point, but isnt it safe to say that there is only a small volume being traded on cryptsy, therefore this isn't representative? and yes, I also think and "believe to know" that PXC is a long term thingy ... look how nice the devs acted up to now, what they presented and what they announced.. I have no doubt one can trust all this ...and again: You can do much more with PX now already than with most other coins supposedly during their whole liftime. The devs contributed to the scene already great stuff like the free of fee escrow thing...maybe this needs to get more publicized or SEO'd a bit so ppl realize that this exists and who gave it to the ppl Smiley ... You can make your off exchange trades in BTC, LTC, PXC and WDC, that's nice as I see it ... PXC will rise, def! Amen! Oh it's only saturday  ... lol

This is digital money we are speaking of. By design 28800 units (in average) are introduced each day. For them to see their value increase, we need a rather large audience that the actual poker site does not have yet (this is a newly launched site, with little promotion outside this forum - at least from what I can see).

New apps and sites are much needed, as a larger promotion ... The strong point of this coin is its dedicated people that clearly have an interest in developping applications for it.
This is different from most other altcoins launched these days, were there is at worst only a pump & dump scheme, and at best a hope to see the coin widely used for general transaction ... but lacking any non-gimmick specifities compared to the many other competing altcoins.

I'm starting to think it's actually fine that there's not much publicity yet. The customers will come when the services launch, they will come to gamble and to trade. We don't need to convince anyone yet ! This is the time were we mine PXC while the difficulty is low and buy cheap PXC.  ( diff. will drop again after next adjustment, for sure ! )

Your impatience actually identifies you as a weak hand.

New apps and sites are being worked on as we speak ( er...type ...) They're gonna be very professional, not like all those bitgrenade or dice games we see now.

You can't build real infrastructure over night, it takes months !  But it IS coming.

Usually the volume is low ... yesterday it was not. I'm certain hundred of thousands PXC changed hands (it was quite easy to predict that dumpers would come after the spike and the first place on coinchoose though Smiley )

Were did a say I was impatient ... I said those sites / services are needed(read "are a condition") for the value to increase, not that I want them now at the risk of not being attractive ^^

I also rather mine a few more at low diff before the increase ^^

Ah yes, then we are in agreement. Some speculative value already exists, and real value is to follow soon.

Difficulty is TEN now, though. How often does PXC retarget ? Every two days ? Four ?

EDIT :  Block Target is 2.5 minutes  Difficulty changes every 2400 blocks, heh I suck at math...

60x24 is 1440 minutes per day... devided by...2.5 is 567 blocks per day, yes ? So every 4.2 days there's a difficulty change. If my math is right. Which it's usually not !

Every 2400 blocks (100 hours, a little over 4 days at 2.5 minutes per block) ... with the current diff and hashpower, I would say at least 10 days tough. Not as extreme as FTC after the big dump, but still long.

hmmm sadly i think it is after a certain amount of blocks, that is the problem with this. Hopefully  though i am wrong and perhaps it is a time frame, not block number that triggers diff retarget. If it is an ltc ftc clone then it may need a fix like bushstar gave ftc it seems to have worked now because it is actually profitable to mine ftc today for the first time in a while. If pxc has a loyal fan base though like ftc did then perhaps some will leave a miner on pxc even though it is very unprofitable to mine right now.
