In order for the staking to work you should see the green arrow light op that says staking.
Also in order for you to stake coins, the wallet must be opened for staking, (unlock wallet, for staking only)
The coins must be at least 7 days old (so 7 days untouched) and then leave the wallet open 24/7 for it to work

I have no clue, you should make a backup of your wallet and create a new fresh one and send your COLX to this new Wallet Address.
Please make sure that you have properly set up your computer clock via the Internet using tools built into the operating system.

I split them up into blocks of 25,000.  For the moment I am just not having the wallet unlocked for staking because I don't have time right now to recreate my MN in a new wallet file as was suggested.

Yes I hope so too.  I don't care about the value of the coins which are lost but if there is a bug in the code these should be fixed so COLX can grow in the future.
