So do you guys think this would be a decent long term investment? How would someone from the USA go about buying these stocks

Cheers

No matter how cheap they get, buying and holding BTC will always be worth more. Probably a LOT more. Hugely overvalued at the moment I think, and only to get worse as BTC increases.

I know its very worrisome, just to add a few...i know there was 2-3 more banks. They 100% burned through all the major banks. I believe DC Bank for debit cards probably just gave them the boot too.

RBC - Gone
CIBC - Gone
Bank Drafts - Gone
EMT - Gone
1-888 number - Gone (atleast the people that used to answer it)

I stick around because its Canadian, nothing else. Sometimes those lower fees and higher trading volumes at other exchanges get me thinking tho.

At this point in time, all the documented banks they had are no longer working with them. I may cash out my CAD due to not knowing where my money is being held.

I meant for the ability to send deposits... As far as I know TD is the only bank you cannot send from atm.

This was just a quick snatch and grab from there news updates, we are all aware some things have happened without notification. I though the Debit Card was going to be a game changer for the team at cavirtex. The future update of "24/7 instant loadable debit card" was absolutely amazing, im not sure if il hold my breath any longer. I am very dedicated to them but like i said before there are alot of steps backwards and nothing forward.

Yes ive been noticing, 1 day recently had mid 70s day volume. Keep in mind this could simply be a few peoples buy/sell. In the heat of things i seen a 1-2Million CAD trading volume, im going to tag along with your hypothesis and go out on a limb here. Trading volume has slowed ALOT. Trading volume in the BTC Exchange world is what pays the bills. Within the last month they have documented having over 21 employees working at any given time. With a trading volume of current (145BTC X 798$) @ highest trading rate of 1.4% , currently bringing you to 2.03BTC of earnings (almost end of business day EST) 2.03btc at 798$ each is around 1600$...from what i understand, they have a physical location and atleast 21 employees. Not even, if at all profitable (today) this is minus other fees like withdrawals and of the sort.

Yeah I been seeing the same thing, its sad though, back in the day I was able to chat with Joseph almost daily, now I cant get anyone on the phone and I've been a loyal client from end of 2012.

Anyways, there's always vaultofsatoshi and the new one opened by the bitcoinacs in Vancouver, I jut read about it earlier today, checked it out but forgot the name and cant find it on my zeroblock app now. but we do have options.

Not so sure.  Exchanges rates are creeping up slowly but trading volumes are way down across all the major exchanges and currencies since the huge Dec 18-20 sell off. According to http://bitcoincharts.com/, VirtEx trading volumes compared to closest competitor (MtGox) has been steadily increasing: 6 mo = 3x, 1 mo = 7x,  1 week = 9x.

Despite all the upheaval, they seem to be maintaining significant CAD exchange market share.

For now....

They haven't had a update on their site since Dec 19  Roll Eyes   it is safe to assume something fishy going on ?

anyone else gets the feeling of  a surprised announcement of their close down or something along those lines?!?

I really had high hopes for Cavirtex but it looks like we need a solid reliable alternative exchange other than this one.

Joseph David: “Happy new year to all! We have made substantial progress on verifications and tickets over the past few weeks and will continue to do so over the coming week as we now have all of our staff back from holidays. miicard live integration is going much slower than planned due to the many intricacies in the live integration process that did not exist in our test environment, we are continuing our full time efforts to resolve these issues. Our new data centers are still in progress of being setup; the delays on this are due to the many redundancies we are putting in place now to limit the time on any future outages should they occur. Debit card loading has been resumed and wire transfer functionality will also be restored in the coming days. I will also be releasing a year in the review message recapping the challenges and accomplishments in 2013 as well as a look ahead into our plans for 2014.”

Makes me feel a little better.
