Hi Guys,

Im pretty keen to understand more about ICOs and intend to invest in some.
ANY recommended ICOs and any advise how you guys determine whether is it a legit or Scam?

Thanks in advance.
Most ICO’s are legit. But a few are also scammers. So we really need to be on our toes.

You can check CryptoVentures for some current or upcoming ICO’s. When selecting a project, initially check the rank and trust rating of the bounty manager. ICO’s are usually legit when campaign managers have the rank of hero or legendary with a positive trust rating. You can consider a Sr. member campaign manager considering his trust rating is substantial. When you’re done doing this, then you can go over the white page for the other project details.

Some pointers...

1) If the ICO claims to be the New Amazing Bitcoin alternative - such as http://www.bitcoinfuji.com/ - it's probably a scam

2) If the ICO has no team members listed, lists team members but they don't have linked in accounts, they have linkedIn accounts but they are new accounts/have no real history, recommendations, etc...It's probably a scam,

3) If the team looks like this:

It's definitely a scam.

4) If there's no credible contact info - It's probably a scam

5) If you do a WHOIS and the domain name is registered to somebody in Croatia, when they claim to be out of San Francisco - yep, you've guessed it. It's probably a scam.

5) If they require KYC but are requesting it to be sent via email - run away!

6) If they appear legit, and require KYC, ask them how they're handling it. If they are not using a reputable automated 3rd party service (also check with that company that they are actually supporting their ICO)...It's probably a scam.

7) Research the proposed product and whitepaper, gauge the competition and whether the vision seems feasible. There are a lot of great ideas out there, but a lot of them are pipe dreams.

Cool If you're even remotely in doubt, step away and save your money.

if you will look at the model from afar - the motivation for ICO is obvious. developers are not confident that their product will reach desired value in free market (exchange listing) - so they setting the the price themselves. people see high price and investing right away, without first reading basics of blockchain tech. this is confirmed by the amount of legit github accounts around all ICOs on the market and basic observation of last two years. also if you like to read white papers - you would noticed that most of all documentation is dedicated to expanding budget covering or referral program. there is a line between fast money and investment. nobody wants to their homework, laziness and greed got us to current ocean of scam we all calling cryptocurrency market.

Crypto market is a far west, so you can find scammer at every corner. It's up to you to detect them and to not be scammed.
But there are a lot of opportunities, and some ICO are very promising.

Like in everything, there is two sides of the coin means good and bad, some ICO's are good and and some are bad, you just have to be careful where you invest your money.
I believe that ICO as a whole is necessary, since it enables the development of the Crypto-currency and improve it.

You can ask every scam questions for understanding about project. What do you need to know: white paper, card and soft cap, actual topic of project, for what money, how they built promotion, what the team, what the token.

Some ICO's are scam, some are legit. You havr to think twice before joining it, you have to read its platform, is it possible or is it so good to be true. The smartest way to chose when joining ICO is chose campaign manager of ICO who is trusted already.

To find good ICO you have to do your own research.. Deeply look in to project concept, development team, road map, advisory board etc.. For that you have to learn much about cryptocurrency..

there are some ICO's that lead to scam if they reach their hard cap of the project they will just abandon it very quickly and remove all the telegram, twitter, facebook accounts in one sweep that's why we can hardly trust ICO's right now

Hi Guys,

Thanks in advance.

99% of ICOs are designed for one purpose only - and that is to enrich the creator(s). In other words, yes, most of them are scams.

However, there are plenty of legit ICOs out there too. You just need to be very careful about which ones you choose to invest in. Do a lot of research in terms of the development team, whitepaper, road-map, etc. to gauge how successful you think it will be and then decide.
Are you sure that all 99% of ICO are scam?

Well we couldn't really say that ICO's are legit because some of them are failing to reach their goal,
Some of them are just a scam and wouldn't take care of their project after they get the money .
But we could say that most of them are just there to gain some money through it and let it run in the market they wouldn't care if their coin becomes shit coin or what.

ICO are legal, but you should be very cautious when you are going to invest in ICO as more ICO are conducted to gain more and more funds from investors,no proper project,no proper idea,no clear idea, only scams. So before investing in ICO make your research as much as you can,get all detail from all your sorces internet, social media etc, when your are fully satisfied go ahead and invest.Value of coin in ICO is usually low,so when these coins are traded at exchange level, their prices are high in this way you can enjoy more return. So differentiate between good ICO or scams.Always be calculative.
Investigating the project for the ICO is needed to evaluate if its development is doing well and not scamming investors. Calculative mind for the percentage distribution to make sure that the project can able to pay for that. It is hard to find which is the good and which is bad, but through researching for the background of it, you can make decision and choose which is good enough that will not just trick and collect from investors funds.

First, you need to sure that the admin is trusted. Second, visit their website if there is no malicious things on that. Third, visit their social media like twitter if they have many followers. Last, the money that's allocated on their campaign. That's only my opinion.

There are a lot of legit ICO out there and just be careful when you try to invest in them. Try for a small amount and learn by experiencing the process from reading and then waiting until the project gives you return.

I believe that most of the ICOs are legitimate although there may be some which are scam and may only be hiding as legit ones. In choosing ICOs we need to look for the ones that are back up by reliable individuals. You can easily find them within this forum.
