What encourages you to invest in any altcoin?

responsiveness/truthfulness of moderators in these channels
   
Fundamentals:

Team strength (number of experts in the field; linkedin profiles)   
Whitepaper originality/technicality/clarity   
Independent reviews   
Partnerships with corporates/academia   
Use-case strength   
Clarity of roadmap

Others:   
Existing Competition (other coins in the same space? how established are they)   
Regulation Risk (does it have security characteristics?)   
Hardcap (is it asking for too much money for its use case?)
Share of tokens distributed (are the founders/team keeping too much for themselves, escrow?)

Mostly the concept and the team encourage me. Additionally, I have been always doing the investigation of the altcoin dynamics. If I understand it will cost much more in future, I invest into it.

I think you need to look up the project, the team, their roadmap and their commitment
You should make concrete researches, and thats more vital and important too.

Thus, there is need to be careful, don't rely on any ico rating websites, they all get paid, so definitely they must write something good and impressive
alaways believe in your instincts, and trade as softly as you can.

First of all is what problem altcoin is trying to solve. Is that a real problem or just a hyped one by the members involved in the idea.
After that comes team, how professional are they, have they developed anything yet, etc.

Now they are not doing any ICO unlike others, so that's a big plus for me. Other than that privacy today is real problem and many of us needs that too be respected. Again a big plus. Team has already developed qt-wallets for all the platform, again a big plus. Check them out.

In my opinion, the price characteristics of a coin should be very important for every traders who are making investing in crypto. I think if a coin which has no organic price movements, the traders shoul be more careful about this kind of coins.

this has really work for me in checkmating some scam ICO. good project managment, popularity of ICO, Amount of token supply are few things to look out for in a project

When the project is very new,  I consider the team a lot and usually I do daily trading with such coins. Coins that are not possible to get a 24hr change of 50 are not suitable for this method.
