On your website it states: "Files uploaded via Oyster are stored on the IOTA Tangle. This means that an excess of redundant duplicates are stored throughout the network topology of the Tangle, therefore mitigating the threat of data loss. Nodes running the Oyster Protocol perform Proof of Work to guarantee that the Tangle retains the data."

I can see its an ETH based token, so are you going to combine the IOTA tangle on the ETH blockchain? And is this a unique thing that never happened before?

Yes the two are combined in a sense. The private seed keys of Ethereum addresses that contain PRL are embedded in the data structure of the uploaded file. This data is stored on the IOTA Tangle. The embedded PRL are in an embedded state known as being 'buried', which means that only 0.5 PRL can be withdrawn once per epoch (1 year). This ensures that if a node finds the PRL they only can only take an amount that is proportional to time past, instead of being able to gut out all of the PRL at once.

Very happy to see the dev is active, I had the same question but my English is not good enough to word it like that.
Saw a nice youtube video explaning Oyster ICO, did an independent person make this, or is this released by Oster?

I am keeping storj node long time and I am seeing that providing storage is not profitable with distributed hardware but this new approach must yet be tested to see how this plays out in real world.

1. What does the user contribute the GPU?CPU for?
2. Do the miners store the documents anonymously and get paid for that service?

Interesting concept for data storage and ads blocking! One stone two birds concept is always nice!
I have just one question : due to the recent surge in crypto mining in different websites done without the consent of the user are you not afraid that the different web browsers start to add protection against mining in javascript by blocking java scripts that use CPU/GPU?
Some news started on the web that Google is starting to develop this kind of solution.

I always use adblock in my chrome, if you solve this problem with advertising. It will cool.

This is a really interesting idea and has a ton of real world uses for businesses.

If companies can use Oyster to then not rely on advertising as a revenue stream the market would be huge! One question is the charging mechanism from Oyster, how does the company use the code (i.e.: is it chargeable or licensed to each user)?

Would be good to understand the revenue model but love the concept!

I think this is a great idea, solving the problem of paid advertising to give the internet a cleaner look whilst maintaining a revenue stream for the website owners. The use of the IOTA tangle is interesting and I think it will work very well for this venture - IOTA itself is something of great potential and this is a perfect example of how it can work.

As a programmer myself, I very much like they made an easy implementation, just one line of code. No need to rebuild projects from the ground up to use this system.
