No, we increased the speed to 40 seconds per block. Bitcoin based means the code is forked from bitcoin core but added features to support decentralized applications

There have been many newcomers to FLO installing and compiling FLO from source on Linux machines. If you're facing build errors please see this thread for help debugging:

Florin is on both poloniex and bittrex. That alone gives it value. The majority of other projects will never stand a chance of getting listed on those high volume exchanges.
