Anyone else finding 0.10.4 for OS X is crashing just as the wallet attempts to sync? Is this because I should be rescanning. Would be appreciated if someone could outline this in steps?
I'm not technically inclined, from the crash log these bad/invalid operations stood out. Any suggestions as to what i might be doing wrong would be helpful?
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV) Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000008 Exception Note: EXC_CORPSE_NOTIFY
I have tested the OS X client and have not noticed any crashes. I think your intuition is correct, you may need to initiate a rescan of the blockchain.

To rescan the blockchain, create or modify your florincoin.conf file. On OS X, the path to florincoin.conf is /Users/<your username here>/Library/Application Support/Florincoin/florincoin.conf add reindex=1 to this file. ... addnode=54.209.141.153 gen=0 testnet=0 reindex=1
I'm also doing a reindex now to make sure it works properly. IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure you remove reindex=1 before you start the wallet again, unless you want to reindex all over again.

Am i not creating the conf file properly? Un-check the box to "Hide Extension" the file is named "florincoin.conf.rtf" as seen in your screenshot right hand side

Am getting an error message about parse configuration file, any ideas how to solve this? It looks as though some of the rtf formatting tags are still in the document. Can you now open the file in a plain text editor and delete the offending lines. Notepad++ works well for that on windows not sure what you have on a mac though

Since it sounds like it was saving as rich text, what you should do theColj, is go to the Format menu and click "make plain text" and that will convert it for you.
