I'm seeing similar behavior.  8 connections out.  0 in.  Regardless, blocks appear to be downloading here and there.

[EDIT] Fully sync'ed.  I guess # of incoming connections shown is irrelevant.

Solved. For anyone else who encounters this on a mac os, I backed up my wallet.dat file and deleted everything in home/library/applicationsupport/florincoin directory except the wallet.dat file, then redownloaded the blockchain.
