Hopefully the top 20 investors will come quickly. In the US any cash transfer of over $10K must be reported to the IRS. I presume there is a similar rule in Canada. It would just invite unwanted attention.

The remaining accounts sum to more than a quarter of a million, but probably most of those will be claimed within the week

In hindsight it would have been better to have something on the website that says anything below 1 BTC has a shelf life if not divested in 30 days.

It looks like you have 3781 investments averaging about $20 apiece, but totaling over $70K. You can't really give it to charity since people could come and claim in six months, and keeping it could get you in trouble to some zealous investigator. It would be a shame to ruin a clean operation over such a relatively small amount of money.

I wouldn't be surprised if you have a few thousand small accounts that don't get claimed within the month.

In any case, it's not like the government will actually know how many accounts/bitcoins you still have stored. This isn't like a bank. What are they going to do, force their way into your wallets/database to inspect? You can just say all the customers' balances have been cleared and you're good to go.

Of the 53,000 coins Just-Dice was holding, only 2,500 are left now. That's less than 5%.  Over 95% of the coins we were entrusted with have been returned to their owners in just 8 days.

I do hope to find a way to bring the sites back legally. I'm not prepared to comply with invasive KYC/AML regulations so if it's a choice between snooping on players and shutting down the site, I'll shut down the site.

Hopefully there's an alternative where I can move the site to a more friendly locality which doesn't drive business away with silly regulations.

If it's an honest escrow, if the escrow get a fixed amount every month, not a % of the money left, and the rules to recover the money are very clear (have username and password or x informations among a list) and if all the money is donated after x years, it could work fine; it is better than ending up in jail anyway, isn't it?

It would be for investors and players that didn't recover their funds and didn't have any emergency address in the account

Unless legally there is a problem with doog being entrusted with the coins until their rightful owners come and claim I don't see why he can't just keep hold of it. First of all, you don't have a right to spend other people's money (even if it is on an escrow) without their consent. Secondly, there aren't exactly a lot of people who could be trusted with the money or who wouldn't possibly abuse the position they'd be put in. Whose to say they wouldn't take a cut for themselves and pretend that someone claimed it.

As an "escrow" holding coins he is transferring currency now and thus would need to get information on the people he is transferring too.  Remember having to send license ID, utility bills to Gox and Bitstamp last year to get your funds out.  Pretty much the same thing imo now.

The new canadian law makes what he is doing clearly illegal; giving the hot potato to an escrow solves his problem but the escrow needs to be very trustworthy as he will handle usernames, passwords and BTC which doog may not be confortable with

When investors and players who have their account blocked because they lost their F2A will withdraw and those who have an emergency address registered will received their funds as well, there will probably not be much left anyway since investors/players are probably still withdrawing as we speak

There are probably players with a balance which doesn´t even cover standard bitcoin transaction fees.

He has always treated members equally wether they had a huge balance or a small one
-withdraws are being made
-members that have their account blocked by F2A will start to withdraw
-emergency addresses
-then we can talk about the dust addresses, escrow ect.

Doog I might have been a pain in your ass but I support your choices you had to make, it was a good run and Im sure your loyal users will come back when you are ready to return, take it easy now that you have that burden off your shoulder.  I hope you enjoy your summer.

Very sad to see this site taken down. Only recently got involved with Bitcoin and was excited to gamble on such a popular site. Considering what I found about the reasons why they stopped, it seems like the smart choice.
