I think honestly, Bitcoin has the potential to, not literally, but replace USD for most used currency. Over time, if crypto-currencies aren't removed to some massive error, or anything else, It would be awesome to see digital currencies replace phisical money overall.  Shocked

Think About it, (all positive statements+)
1 anonymously buy and sell
2 ZERO money printing costs
3 Easier and more reliable payments online
4 Secure and more anti-theft than dollar bills or coins
5 You Can back up your bitcoin wallet, just in case. If you lose bills or coins....they're gone

If they did replace all physical money with digital currencies, here's what I think Would happen: (could be positive - or negative + statements)

1 Government would try to interfere minimally, in some way so they profit (goes without saying) (-)
2 Economy EVERYWHERE would BOOM due how easy it would be to send and receive money (In my oppinion way easier than paypal, western union, ect.) (+)
3 Old money would be slightly more valuable due to printing stop (+)
4 Internet usage would rise, meaning advertising more effective, ect. (+)
5 Also, less or more taxes (+/-)

I want to know what you think of my ideals  Grin ...reply post on this toppic with @htk00001 in top of post

Whats the inflation rate on fiat currencies  Cool
I think it depends on the currency. Try googling it, there should be a lot of results.

Bitcoin may hit $500 within 10 years. But $1000 is impossible.

Any arguments backing that up?

My guess is that sometime in 2015 it will be $1,000.  I doubt it will maintain that log appreciation after that.

It is doomed to have log appreciation while being in circulation since other currencies inflate exponentially.

but why? 5, 32, 50, 100, 500, 1000 - are just arbitrary numbers. why do you think 1000 is very hard?

who is to say $1000 Eventually (the  way were printing it) USD will be worth little.....as a bleak example 1 bitcoin is like 3000 rubbles.....
just because BTC its worth $1000usd doesnt neccesarily mean its worth alotin other currencies.

Hey Im selling 1 bitcoin for $1,000,000

I just $1,000,000 =100 eur

just a thought

I would still be difficult for all currency pairs to collapse in unison. Governments own a lot of fiat currency (not just their own) and will always need to exchange this currency reserve for there own currency. In this way a lot of value can move between fiat currency pairs. So it is relative and not all pairs can devalue unless Governments decided to hold Bitcoin as a reserve currency (not impossible buy unlikely).

Well the topic said will bitcoin reach 1000 one day so yes it can if any one currency collapses vs a full basket of different currencies is a different scenario
If inflation is at 10% a year it would reach 1000 faster than at 2% a year assuming bitcoin keeps growing against any one fiat currency
With less units being created in bitcoin causing appreciation of each unit of bitcoin if the value of bit keeps growing in total value over time Smiley

Assuming it stiii exists, it HAS to because the dollar is constantly losing buying power and the difficulty is rising constantly.

People like Avalon and BFL will not allow it to stay where it's at for long.  It will rise again past $250.

No one really knows but after the next 6 months to a year are over you would be in a much better place to make a call like that.
