yes it probably will one day, once bitcoin gets VERY popular and they will be very hard to mine.
but i guess until that point, most of us will have already sold their bitcoins because prices went up soo high

BTC is inherently deflationary. By design it has a fixed number of whole coins - 21 million. So far there had been hundreds if not thousands of coins lost (forgotten passwords, lost wallets, etc...). This means there are actually less usable/transferable coins than the total that currently exists. As long as demand rises, while supply stays limited, prices will rise accordingly.

Just one, actually: Shorter confirmation times. And it's a crappy one, since the confirmation times are still 2.5 minutes. In the future, that may even be a disadvantage, since, once the network gets really large, 2.5 minutes may not be enough time for transactions and blocks to propagate around the world (block sizes will eventually be quite large), and the whole Litecoin system may explode in fork chains Sad

Well i mean it is theoretically possible. it will definitely take a long time. possibly once we reach cap and no more coins can be minted it will reach that. the chances are slim though.

Won't reach cap for over 120 years. So, you're saying not in our lifetime?

It's August. 2012. A bitcoin is worth about $7. It will obviously NEVER reach $100. At least not any time soon. The idea that it would get there in a year is ridiculous.

Lesson - never say never.

I think the bigger question, is that when the bitcoin's value is at what would right now be $1000 usd, will the usd still be worth anything?

Yes you can buy 1 bitcoin for it and wait for a rise to 10000.   Grin

Do you really honestly believe that USD inflation is rising at a rate anywhere approaching the rate of bitcoin adoption? If you do, I'd love to see your zeroed out savings and investment accounts.

With that spike a while back up to $260+ its really hard to say. Bitcoins can't be interpreted like typical currency exchange.
That said I really wish I would have cashed out at that all time high but then again I was getting greedy and thinking it could easily see the $500 mark lol
