Actual usage of the coin in question is what makes it really valuable, there needs to be demand for it not only by investors but by actual users.
You're saying that you're building a coin based on social sharing. Care to elaborate on that?

Why do you think people need the coin that you're designing? What problem does it solve?

Well, I think one of the most important features of altcoin is it gives flavor to the crypto market. Although at the moment it js never really visible because of bitcoin's staggering rise in value. The trade market works because of these differences in price that people play with to earn a profit. Also, it is a way for companies to start up and have people invest on them.

I'm developing an altcoin that is based on social sharing. What foundational technologies are going to make it the most valuable? What makes an altcoin valuable? I'm wondering if it is just how much people hear about it? Thoughts?

Here's a google doc that I'm using to gather thoughts. Add information about your favorite altcoin. This should start to give us a stronger idea of what is happening with altcoin value. Also, I need help linking the coin prices to the spreadsheet if you're interested in helping develop this for the community.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1UCpkXVLfKb94w02ZqyDCtzvGWLghi1tlvz-odCG-S9c/edit?usp=sharing

There should be a strong team behind the project that is doing active work at their project. A good marketing team is also important to reach the people with your vision!

I think majority of the community in this forum or industry They believed that most of the inidividual members here already got their profit in the altcoins and many of them became successful in it, therefore as long there are traders buying altcoins it is hows only that there profit in altcoin.

You can either make it as a currency for an app or other functions. The price and popularity of coins highly depends on how you make use of it.

I personally think that are different aspects that makes a coin valuable, simple put, it has to have a utility and must have users, so it has to build a community and I see some good projects fail to become successful because they look to fail in spreading the news about them in the right way and thru the right channels. They have/are a lot of specialists in their team but they poorly advertise or don´t feed information thru the pre and sale period, I even tweeted about.

OK, but what are the right channels?

Good background/people/community, always check for the name and website, checking qty (not over 100 mil.), checking if they have certain goals/targets and something unique.

People in this community gives value to a token or coins. If you want your altcoin to be successful and have value, you will need to advertise it well and make sure that your campaign has what it takes for people to also believe that your altcoin will really be profitable. In this forum, many of the people are really willing to invest in alt's but in order for them to invest in your coin, the coin must be well presented, unlike the shitty coins.

What are some well presented coins that you can think of?

Those, who are in the crypto world, always pick many altcoins to deal with. Each of these coins offers its advantages: Monero offers high privacy, DASH and Litecoin are very fast, IOTA is good for buying things in Internet, ETH is great for creating iCOs. Thus they are valuable. Trading with most of them brings profit.

If an altcoin has higher demand and low supply then maybe it makes it more valuable. That is my personal opinion. And if the creator of the coin launched a great and successful project then maybe it can be valuable also.

Well, as what i have observed and understood im the past few months of being here in the crypto world, the thing that really gives value to a token or coin are athe people. If a coin/token is unique and solves a great problem, then that attracts a lot of people. Along with big investors. Which then increases the demand and makes the token more valuable. That's pretty much it i think. Anyways, ho pe this helps. And hope you'd get to make a very prpmising coin that can really help a lot in the crypto world and not just aim for profit.

Good day. And good luck.

In Your case the community means much, but the key feature will be the strength of this community which for me means what value will have this alt to the supporters and the adoption of this in the mass! Anyway, the new techs will only add the value to every alt, but for this one will be cool to get the wallet integrated into the social account!

Technically speaking, an altcoin has value for the same reason everything else has value - people are willing to assign that much value to the object.
When I am looking into investing in an altcoin, I personally look into the devs, the community and the technology in that order. Novel tech is always good but it doesn't mean anything if there are sketchy devs or no community to pack it.

The more altcoins are accepted as currency by mainstream vendors (ie. how Bitcoin is accepted at some restaurants, websites such as Overstock, etc) can add value. Also, features and mentions in crypto and mainstream media can aid its perceived legitimacy (even though press coverage alone doesn't necessarily mean it is actually legit/safe/valuable)

There are many factors, especially the price of Bitcoin, the de factor reserve currency of the Bitcoin world, price of the U.S Dollar, Innovation, energy put into securing the blockchain of a coin, and reputation issues such as public perception, scams, and media response. Dilution of the market means many alternative cryptocurrencies will find it hard to gain a foothold. But many have a cult following so have some value. Legal issues can vary the price also as discussed above.

I wonder if one does a very focused local campaign if it would strengthen the value of the currency. If you could get locals to adopt it. How do people deal with currency fluctuations in that instance?
