Lab_Rat, I paid for my shares from my QT wallet --> Weexchange --> Bitfunder. Are you paying our dividends to Bitfunder wallet, Weexchange wallet, or QT wallet?

Thx

I paid dividends to the address you have listed on BitFunder.

Thanks. Have they all been paid out? I haven't seen it yet.

My Bitfunder bitcoin address was updated on Friday. When did you pull those addresses from Bitfunder?

thx

@Lab_Rat indicated (Possibly privately) that he'd pull the assetlist at noon.  Depending on which timezone, that could be http://bitfunder.firstitinc.com/asset-list/assetlist-2013-10-12-11:00.txt or http://bitfunder.firstitinc.com/asset-list/assetlist-2013-10-12-12:00.txt .  (My time stamps are CDT.)

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Got my dividend 4h ago.
Wonder for those with an invalid address there ^^
Heh.  The invalid addresses are easy.  The problem is going to be the ones who are even dumber, and entered a valid address that they don't control or no longer have the private key to.

I was in the #bitfunder IRC chat a couple weeks ago, and watched a user (not an LRM user) come to the realization that the 2+ BTC he sent to his BitFunder address was gone, because he generated the public key with some tool when he created the account, and didn't keep the private key.  $200+....  pffffft...

Mine came thru without a hitch...You have to have control of the private address to make sure you will receive it.. We have been warning everyone here since bitfunder made their announcement... Im not sure this works, but it should, your coinbase addresses will always stay with you or go make an account at blockchain.info, its really easy, just dont set it up to be sent to mt.gox.. The rule of thumb, if you have control of the private key, your set...

if you can send and receive messages, you should be set... I would probably still steer clear of any exchanges addresses. Best to have your own wallet, then transfer it to your exchange..

Remember there was a .025btc fee for him doing it manually. Thats probably why you are short...

I dont think that there is a way (at least with a mac) to be able to see the private key if there is, please let me know macs are a pain when it comes to bitcoin use.., I know that you can import it pretty easily, but if you have the bitcoin QT latest version, then you are able to sign your own message.  there is a program called the armory which is awesome.. you can make your own paper wallets and totally take your coins off the grid, make them totally safe...I'd recommend others to look into it, when bitcoin gets more popular, we will start seeing a lot more bitcoin thefts, so its best to start practicing safe bitcoin now, lol...

The private key is what enables you to spend the BTC associated with the address.

http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/7536/how-do-i-export-my-private-keys-from-my-bitcoin-qt-client

http://www.blockrun.com/faq/how_to_sign

And a sample signed message that I posted yesterday:

Test message.  Ignore the dashes above and below when you copy and paste this to verify.

If you can verify this, you've probably figured out enough to sign messages with your own keys.

It kind of goes without saying, but If you do have a local wallet, MAKE SURE you ENCRYPT IT!  Otherwise its just like leaving a wad of  money on the dashboard of your car.

And once you've encrypted it, put copies all over the place.  On your home PC.  Work PC.  GMail.  Thumbdrive(s).  Dropbox.  Etc.  And don't forget your passphrase.

The forums are filled with tales of woe from people who can look at blockchain.info and *see* their Bitcoins, but they have lost the ability to access them....

Tell m if Im wrong, But from what I understand once I have made a backup of my wallet and I dont add any more addresses to it, I dont have to continue to make backups every time I receive or send coins, correct? Its only if i add an address that I have to do another back up. Or am I wrong?

You shouldn't even need to back-up when new addresses are added due to the way the addresses are generated. Just Google "deterministic brain-wallet" for more info...

(By which I mean new receive addresses. New wallets you will, of course, need new back-ups of!)

I hope we start seeing some hashing power added, I think the next difficulty will be around 240million, actually, It will be more like 250million or more because of KNC miners and bitfury coming online.. I hope it slows down soon.. Thats like a 25-30 percent jump..
