Are the links in the op still valid? Are these wallets legit?

http://primecoin.io/downloads.php

Thanks

They are legit, but huge problems with sync'' with network,

If someone could upload blocks + chainstate folders, that would be very helpful....
You can try this snapshot http://89.179.119.195:8080/primecoin_blockchain_20171214.zip
Old client based on bitcoin 0.8.3 synchronizes too slow now, it's become a problem.

Is there a place that collects the prime numbers found by Primecoin? Or is it just spinning it's wheels?

I'm trying to connect to a primecoind running as daemon using a second computer (supposed for mining only).

My config looks as follows:
Code:
server=1
daemon=1
listen=1

# You must set rpcuser and rpcpassword to secure the JSON-RPC api
rpcuser=primecoinrpc
rpcpassword=XXXX

# Listen for RPC connections on this TCP port:
rpcport=9000

# You can use Bitcoin or bitcoind to send commands to Bitcoin/bitcoind
# running on another host using this option:
rpcconnect=127.0.0.1

rpctimeout=16
rpcallowip=0.0.0.0/0
bind=192.168.180.30
externalip=192.168.180.30

Trying t connect from 192.168.180.31 (mining pc running ubuntu + primecoind as client only) results in HTTP 403 Error (using rpcconnect=192.168.180.30 and same rpcuser/rpcpassword)
Quote
error: server returned HTTP error 403

Any suggestions?

read the forum i'm picking up on, people who lack ability attempting to modify code they don't really understand, and by the adaption of the coin could totally ruin the coin, it's called Primecoin, for a reason. due to the way it's coded and it's more complex than to let someone come along and try modify it with a limited ability and skill. you'd have to be proper good, and i'm not getting that vibe from what i read here. you'd cause more damage by screwing it.

Its not that easy to manipulate primecoin as most other old coins since it is much better distributed. For other coins "scammers" could easily buy 50% of the coins, do a "relaunch" and dump on the new "investors". I hope this don't happen with primecoin.

http://primecoin.io/bin/primecoin-paper.pdf

if the is no cap on this coin it might need a cap at some point, but only when we see a massive price rise would or should anyone consider a move like this, and i don't think it's any time soon. code in a cap at some point i believe, but no time soon, the only good idea is increase adoption, and use cases, before anyone considers a cap. it's a good coin due to it's maths formula, but i still think it might have to have a cap in the future, because at some point the will be to many. and you will no longer have to keep minting coins, the is a limit to everything.

i get the impression people don't like caps, but at some point you certainly have to cap the supply.

The codebase is very old, the current intention is just to have it updated to the latest Bitcoin codebases, the code isn't being updated for fun - there are vulnerabilities being fixed, there is protocol parameters being modified for the better, to keep Primecoin's code at 0.8 will not be good for the long-term interests of the currency

Primecoin was one of the first coin that I had contact, the famous fork of Peercoin, there is still hope for Primecoin? The community doesn't seem to be the same, but some people keep them alive, since it's still listed on Poloniex, one of the reasons for forgetting would be outdated technology? Shocked

Care to explain what happened there?

The whole reboot idea was good, why did you kill and lock your own thread?

I hope it has nothing to do with the likes of 'German Klimenko' babbling utter nonsense...

Datacoin to be listed on Next fiat exchange:  https://next.exchange.

There is a lot of development around Datacoin and that is why we really want to engage with the parent cryptocurrency (Primecoin).
Datacoin thread:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2188160.0

Cloned Primecoin Core 0.16 from Github and compiled with autogen, configure, make etc.
Used bootstrap and sync is stuck at 3 years and 6 days.  addnode returned null.

Anybody else experienced this?

You can "bootstrap" from old primecoin client data directory.

Quote
addnode 89.179.119.195 onetry
addnode 194.87.96.132 onetry
For use with testnet only first (89.179.119.195) now working.

This client can synchronize from same clients or intermediary nodes https://github.com/primecoin-ng/primecoin-intermediary. Intermediary node can interact with any type of client.
Old client can synchronize from any type of node, but can't be source for new primecoin-core.
First step is replacing old client with intermediary nodes, later I will make release for Win/Linux/Mac and bootstrap.dat.
