Basically any fan that does not use the Socket for support, or 'Jerry rig' the arctics with an extension cable.

I'm seeing a 'change in the USB power contact resistance' over time with the swan neck fans.(all sockets I have tested)

*in English* The vibration from the fan travels down the swan neck and causes the contact between the fan and the USB socket to arc slightly, thereby increasing the resistance and causing 'self heating' of the socket, which in turn causes the contacts to break loose of the integral plastic assembly in the sockets.

Interesting. Though your reasoning is sound, and should be taken into consideration, I have not noticed any adverse effect of such fans. I have two that are running 24/7 for half a year now in the same two sockets.

I have used an Arctic Breeze for over 4 months in my 3rd Anker 7port.  I will keep this in mind when I setup the new hub tomorrow.
I do have a short USB extension cable I could use and mount it to the side somehow until I can find a standalone USB fan.
Thanks for the advice.

And here the second part of the 19-porter hub review. I received my AntMiners U1s and got to play a bit with them. This time the hub is hosted by Win7 with 64-bit bfgminer 3.10.0.
I mixed 3 types of miners (8xAnt, 4xBE, 6xBlueFury), gave it the following command:

Code:
-S opencl:noauto -S erupter:all -S antminer:all -S bigpic:all

and observed the results:

All three managed to co-exist peacefully, and Ants even hashed between 1.7 and 1.9 on default settings.

I also tested the hub with all-Ants, and ran 18+fan without any side effects.

When I started bfgminer with

Code:
--set-device antminer:clock=x0981

for a 2GH/s overclock, I started seeing two random Ants producing HW errors. I had to reduce the number of simultaneously running Ants to 13 for the HW errors to go away, and for them to run stably at 2.0-2.05GHs

4.5a has enuf juice for 9 stock miners.

USB miners pull about .05 - .07 each
Some more, much more when clocked.

10a min for 20miners 12a would be better.

ferget about watts, it is all about amps, watts can easily be calculated v x a=w

That one might be tight on power as it only run from one molex connection.
If you have a few more dollars get an Anker 7 port hub.
I used 3 of them until I got the big beast hub.  They ran all of my miners ok even overclocked a BiFury with no problems.

That's hard to say.  You might get lucky and run all ten ports but I am more inclined to believe that you would get 6 to 7 working.

yeah... Roll Eyes

20V*4.5A = 90W
5V*0.5A=2.5W

90/2.5 = 36 USB Miners that run at typical 500mA

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461

ok so what do I need to do to wire a PSU to that 20 port hub and have the power I need to run say 15 Ants or yellowjackets

will one 5v line be enough for the amps I need   will I need to run 2 5v lines into the hub?
as soon as I get it ill post pics of it and the psu   maybe someone can walk me thruy doing it!

so I recived this hub and it works well with 4 overclocked NFY jellowjackets and 2 over clockd ants but dosnt have enough power to handle 3 Block erupters also
Do they make a molex to barrel adapter   or maybe a 6 pin to barrel adaper?   I took the hub apart   it looks to be 4- 5 port hubs   I don't feel comfortable removing the existing power socket ( a yellow barrel type) and wiring in atx power ( what lines? how many? ect?) I need like 12 to 15 amps I feel to populate it and overclock
